INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Any import/export operation uses an intermediate file that defaults to a .txt file extension. Hence, regardless of the direction of information movement, two operations are needed, one in SKETCHUP and one in SOUNDVISION. The operations in SKETCHUP are available from the SU4SV toolbar or the Plugins menu. The operations in SOUNDVISION are available from the toolbar in the 3D ROOM DATA window ( documentation). ; refer to the SOUNDVISION

Move room data from SOUNDVISION to SKETCHUP 1. Launch SOUNDVISION. 2. Create or open the 3D room model to be exported. 3. Click on the Export File icon.

4. In the Save as Text export file popup window, browse to the chosen location, type the name of the .txt file to be created, and click on the Save key: all the faces of the current SOUNDVISION model are now exported to the .txt file. 5. Launch SKETCHUP (if not already done). 6. Click on the icon or the SOUNDVISION SU function.

7. Browse to select the preceding .txt file and click on the Open key: the faces of the .txt file are now added to the room data currently in use in SKETCHUP. Concave faces Currently, SOUNDVISION may render a model incorrectly if it contains any faces that are concave. Consequently, all concave faces should be divided before exporting a model from SKETCHUP. The procedure is the following: 1. Click on the Selection Tools/Select Concave Faces function to select all concave faces (including faces containing holes) and the edges causing them to be so. 2. Manually divide each selected face. Orientation For correct orientation in SOUNDVISION the SKETCHUP model should be built under the following conditions: The main axis from the stage to the audience is the green axis. The stage is located at the origin. The audience is located in the positive green axis zone (bold). These conditions will set the angle of sources pointing straight towards the audience to zero. Additional features SU4SV has additional features (see figure on the right) that may be helpful if working with large, complex models or models imported from other CAD systems. Please refer to the help file available in SKETCHUP by clicking on the Help Files function.
