PUMP RETURN LINE FILTER INLINE FILTER

Fig. 1 Figure 1 above shows a basic hydraulic circuit showing controlling of double acting cylinder Direction change of cylinder is affected by a three position, 4-way, solenoid operated Direction control valve. When Solenoid 1 is energized and solenoid 2 is in deenergized state cylinder moves in forward direction. When Solenoid 2 is energized and solenoid 1 is de-energized cylinder moves in reverse direction. As neither the fluid flowing into the actuator nor the exhaust fluid of the actuator is restricted, no speed control is possible in either forward or return stroke of the actuator.

Meter - In type of speed control (Refer Fig. 2) When solenoid 1 is energized actuator performs forward stroke during which time the fluid entering the piston end of the actuator flows through the restrictor of the flow control valve FCV1 and hence metered quantity of fluid enters the piston end, there by controlling the speed of the actuator. Speed control of actuator stroke thus affected is referred to as Meter - In type of speed control.

Meter Out type of speed control (Refer Fig.3) When solenoid 2 is energized actuator performs reverse stroke during which time the fluid entering the rod end of the actuator flows unrestricted and fluid leaving the piston end passes through the restrictor in the flow control valve, FCV 2 (as the check valve in FCV 2 is closed). Hence metered quantity of fluid flows out of the piston end, there by controlling the speed of the actuator during its return stroke. Speed control of actuator return stroke thus affected is referred to as Meter Out type of speed control.

Regenerative circuit
A regenerative circuit is used to speedup the extending velocity of a double acting hydraulic cylinder. Both ends of the hydraulic cylinder are connected in parallel so that one port of the four way direction control valve is blocked. When the DCV is shifted to its left mode (Y solenoid energized), the fluid bypasses the DCV and enters into the rod end of the cylinder. Fluid in the piston end drains to tank through the DCV as the cylinder retracts. When solenoid X is energized the cylinder extends. The speed of extension is greater for a regular double acting cylinder. During this condition, pressurized fluid from the rod end is connected to piston end thereby advancing the speed of cylinder faster than the speed achieved by pumps discharge of the pump.
