Internalization is only a cover for mainlandization.
Infiltrating Hong Kong's higher education is essential to controlling the minds of the masses in Hong Kong. The growing
number of mainland Chinese students enrolled in Hong Kong's tertiary institutions is the result of executing a wellcoordinated plan designed to influence the future make-up of a pro-Beijing ruling class in Hong Kong. 11 23 11:50

Ah Arroz I beg to disagree though, Liberphile. A double-edged sword now the party sees such covert scheme if it ever
exists as youngsters by and large given the opportunities would embrace values that they find wanting in their backwater
up north. A case in point would be that young lady from Gweizhou , if my memory still serves me right who came forth to
defend the much avowed tradition of HKU during the centenary fiasco a while ago, putting into shame those commitee
and heads of departments who should be more than anyone else to have stood their ground in the first place.
Fear not those young ones with a future but those established ones who try to entrench their positions.

Ah Arroz,
There may be a few exceptions like that young lady. Overall, I'd say the odds are in favour of Beijing. In general,
Chinese intellectuals are too pragmatic to be willing to risk taking a more non-conformist route. 11 23 13:45
Ah Arroz Take heart though - seeing a normally timid young lady springing forth to take up a cause she felt worth fighting
for is already a start - an eye-opener at least for those who would normally toe the line and at least in the present
climate political climate in HK she should fear no reprisal and I think an antecedent like this would persuade more to
rally should the thugs up north (and here as well) decide to test the water again.
This generation is not as gullible and is not afraid to stand up for their own rights. I see in them a lot of
qualities should they be called for. 11 23 15:31

Remember what HKU's Professor Tsui said recently about his institution serving not only Hong Kong but also China?
The top administrators at local universities have become very politically savvy when it comes to kissing up to the regime
up north since the handover. 11 24 00:09
