l20
Report Mode Monitors
This table describes terms used in the previous Report Mode tables and
lists a "suspect LRU" that is a likely cause of the fault. Still, do not simply
replace this LRU without further testing and troubleshooting to verify the
source of the problem.
ACCMON Basic autopilot acceleration data (vertical or normal) from
the AHRS/IRS is invalid. Suspect the AHC/IRU.
ACTPOS The rudder actuator position is excessive for the current
indicated airspeed. Valid IAS data is required to make this
determination, the ACTPOS report problem also occurs
whenever IAS data is invalid. Suspect the SVL.
AHRS The serial bus from the AHRS/IRS is invalid. Suspect the
AHC/IRU or the FCC; further investigation is required.
AHRTST The AHRS (AHC) is in test mode.
ATTMON Basic autopilot pitch or roll attitude data from the AHRS/IRS
is invalid. Suspect the AHC/IRU.
BOOST A rudder boost failure is detected. This term sets with
BSTDAT or BSTMON. Suspect a failed sensor or the FCC;
further investigation is required.
BSTDAT A rudder boost input data error is detected. This means that
data from the sensors is not reasonable, or that these values
do not agree with the cross-side FCC values. The BOOST
DATERR report parameter lists the number of detected data
errors. Suspect a failed sensor or the FCC; further
investigation is required.
BSTMON A rudder boost computation error is detected. This means
that an unnecessary rudder boost occurred, or that the boost
is in the wrong direction. The BOOST ERRORS report
parameter lists the number of detected computation errors.
Suspect the FCC.
CMD-AP A servo command error is detected in the pitch or roll axis.
The I/O processor has detected an excessive servo
command rate in the pitch and/or roll axis. The CMD-P
ERRORS and CMD-R ERRORS report parameters show
how many errors have been detected in the pitch or roll axis
since power-up.
CPU The main processor has been reset. Suspect the FCC.
CROSS The cross-channel bus from the other FCC is invalid.
Suspect one of the two FCCs.
CROSTR The cross-side steering code is not zero. Check the STEER
CODE report parameter for the other FCC to determine the
cause of the FD flag. Suspect the cross-side FCC; further
investigation is required.
l2l
Report Mode Monitors (Cont)

This term sets with CUT-PH or CUT-RH. Check the CUT-P
HARDW and CUT-R HARDW report parameters to isolate a
pitch or roll failure. Suspect the FCC.
CUT-O A cutout occurrence in the pitch, roll, or yaw axis is detected.
This term sets with CUT-PO, CUT-RO, or CUT-YO. Check
the CUT-P OCCUR, CUT-R OCCUR, or CUT-Y OCCUR
report parameters to isolate a pitch, roll, or yaw failure. This
does not indicate a failed unit.

command input to the FCP.
DISCKT Disengage switch circuits in the panel have failed. Suspect
the FCP. Cycle power to clear the fault message.
DISCMD An autopilot disconnect command input to the FCP is
asserted. Suspect an aircraft switch discrete input to the
FCP or the AP DISC switch bar; further investigation is
required.
EQU-AP An autopilot (pitch or roll axis) equalization error is detected.
This term sets with EQU-P or EQU-R. Check the EQZN-P
ERRORS and EQZN-R ERRORS report parameters to
isolate pitch or roll failure. Suspect one of the AHC/IRUs or
FCCs; further investigation is required.

l23
Report Mode Monitors (Cont)
PANEL Communication between the FCP and the FCC is invalid.
Suspect the FCP or FCC; further investigation is required.
P-DATA The pitch outer loop data monitor is invalid. This means that
data required for current pitch computations is invalid.
Suspect the external system supplying pitch (vertical) data in
that mode.
For example: If vertical speed (VS) mode is selected and the
STEER CODE shows the P-DATA term is set, refer to pitch
outer loop monitor chart below. Under VERTICAL MODES,
find the VERTICAL SPEED line. The array shows seven
items on this line. This marks the seven DATA MONITORS
that can set the P-DATA term in VS mode. If VS, TAS,
vertical acceleration, onside air data, vertical speed
reference, pitch attitude, or roll attitude to the PFD is invalid,
then this term sets and the FD flag shows on the PFD.

Report Mode Monitors (Cont)
RUDPWR The rudder actuator has no power. This is caused by a
pulled circuit breaker, broken wiring, or activation of the limit
switch in the rudder actuator at high IAS. The RUDPWR
report problem also occurs whenever IAS data is invalid.
SSMFCS A monitor from the servo switching module (SSM) is bad,
affecting the flight control system (autopilot or yaw damper).
SSMFCS is an ORing of the SSM-AP and the SSM-YD
logic.
SSM-AP The servo switching module has detected a problem with its
switching of autopilot related data between the two pairs of
FCCs. The problem is related to switching of the pitch servo,
roll servo, and/or pitch trim system.
SSM-YD The servo-switching module has detected a problem with its
switching of yaw damper related data between the two pairs
of FCCs. The problem is related to switching of the yaw
servo.
STRP-E External aircraft strapping is not compatible with the FCC
configuration ROM. Either the IAPS configuration strapping
is incorrect or the FCC has an incorrect software version.
SVO-AP An autopilot (pitch or roll) servo amplifier error is detected.
This term sets with SVO-P or SVO-R. Refer to AMP-P
ERRORS and AMP-R ERRORS report parameters to isolate
pitch/roll error. Suspect AHC/IRU, FCC, pitch/roll servos, or
mismatched discrete inputs; further investigation is required.
SVO-P A pitch axis servo amplifier error is detected. This means
either a hardware failure occurred or that the inputs to the
two halves of the pitch servo amplifier are not alike. Suspect
the AHC/IRU, FCC, pitch servo, or mismatched discrete
inputs; further investigation is required.
SVO-R A roll axis servo amplifier error is detected. This means
either a hardware failure occurred or that the inputs to the
two halves of the roll servo amplifier are not alike. Suspect
the AHC/IRU, FCC, roll servo, or mismatched discrete
inputs; further investigation is required.
SVO-YD A yaw axis servo amplifier error is detected. This means
either a hardware failure occurred or that the inputs to the
two halves of the yaw servo amplifier are not alike. Suspect
the AHC/IRU, FCC, yaw servo, or mismatched discrete
inputs; further investigation is required.
TRIM A pitch or roll trim-system failure is detected. Check the
TRIM-P ERRORS report parameter to isolate pitch or roll
failure. Suspect the aircraft pitch/roll trim system or the FCC.
TRMANN The pitch or roll trim fail annunciator test failed. Suspect an
annunciator bulb.
l26
Report Mode Monitors (Cont)
WRP-AP An autopilot (pitch or roll) wraparound error is detected. Look
at the WRAP-P ERRORS and WRAP-R ERRORS report
parameters to isolate the pitch or roll failure. Suspect the
FCC.
WRP-Y A wraparound error in the yaw axis is detected. Suspect the
FCC.
WRP-YD A yaw damper wraparound error is detected. Suspect the
FCC.
WSWRN A windshear condition has been detected. This includes a
windshear warning from an EGPWS/GPWS (or other
external device) and radio altitude and IAS within predefined
limits.
XSLATA There is an excessive lateral acceleration problem. The
XSLATA report occurs when there has been excessive or
invalid lateral acceleration for too long, while at a high IAS.
YD DIS The yaw damper is disengaged. The yaw damper must be
engaged before the autopilot can engage.

INPUT MODE Page
1. Show the MAINTENANCE MENU page.
2. Move the cursor to the FCC DIAGNOSTICS
line, then push the SEL button.
3. The MFD shows instructions to access and
enter FCC DIAGNOSTICS (REPORT MODE).
4. Simultaneously push any two FCP mode
buttons to select the INPUT MODE page.
The INPUT MODE page lists the input signal
information that is received by the FCC
computers. This mode is especially useful for
isolating a failed unit that supplies data to the
FCCs.
Five selectable parameters show the signal data
inputs to the LEFT FCC and RIGHT FCC. If
applicable, the unit of measure also shows. Use
the FCP mode buttons to select the input mode
operations. Use the VS/pitch wheel to change the
input signal parameter on the cursored line.
l28
The IOC labels show below the five signal lines in
both the LEFT and RIGHT columns. The label in
the LEFT column indicates which IOC-3 input bus
(IOC-LA or IOC-LB) is currently being used by the
left FCC computer. The label in the RIGHT column
indicates which IOC-3 input bus (IOC-RA or IOC-
RB) is being used by the right FCC. The operator
may switch to the other IOC bus by manually
engaging, then disengaging, the autopilot (push
AP ENG button, then lower the AP DISC bar on
the FCP). Both FCCs then use the other IOC bus,
if it is valid.
The Input Mode Parameter List shows all available
input signal parameters. The most useful inputs
are decoded, and show with a unit of measure
(such as feet or degrees) so that this value can be
easily compared with related displays/indications
in the aircraft. The SOURCE LRU column names
the unit that generates that input signal and the
source word label. This column also names the
data bus (IOC-3, AHC/IRU-1, etc.) that supplies
this information to the FCC. ARINC data words are
organized as follows:
BITS DESCRIPTION
1-8 Label (octal)
9-10 SDI (source ident)
11-13 Pad/secondary data
14-29 Primary data
30-31 SSM (status)
32 Parity bit
External (non-FCC) data shows as two input
signal parameters. One parameter is a descriptive
name, and the other is an SSMPSI parameter. The
SSMPSI parameter shows the SSM, Pad data,
and SDI values. These two parameters show all
the pertinent information in the input data word.
For example, preselect altitude information is
l29
provided in the 102 word. This information is
presented in the ALTPRE and 102 parameters.
The ALTPRE input parameter shows the preselect
altitude setting in feet. This information is decoded
from the primary data (bits 14 through 29) of word
102. Note that some primary data is not decoded
into a signal value, but instead shows as a
hexadecimal value. The unit of measure for these
signals shows as "29-14H".
The 102 input parameter shows the remaining
pertinent information in three digits. The unit entry
on this line is SSMPSI. This means the three digits
are (in order): the SSM, Pad data, and the SDI.
A typical SSM digit is 0 (failed), 1 (no computed
data), 2 (unit in test), or 3 (normal). This digit is
decoded from bits 30 and 31 of the input word.
The Pad digit lists miscellaneous information that
is normally pad (0 = not used) or secondary data.
This digit is decoded from bits 11, 12, and 13 of
the input word.
The SDI digit is 0 (not used), 1 (left LRU), 2 (right
LRU), or 3 (not used). This digit is decoded from
bits 9 and 10 of the input word.

OUTPUT MODE Page
1. Show the MAINTENANCE MENU page.
2. Move the cursor to the FCC DIAGNOSTICS
line, then push the SEL button.
3. The MFD shows instructions to access and
enter FCC DIAGNOSTICS (REPORT MODE).
4. Simultaneously push any two FCP mode
buttons to select the INPUT MODE. Repeat to
select the OUTPUT MODE.
This page lists selected outputs from the FCC
computers. These outputs may be controlled if
both FCCs are in diagnostics mode and the
aircraft is on the ground.
Five selectable parameters show the output
signals from the LEFT FCC and RIGHT FCC. If an
output can be changed, the MODIFY column
shows on the right side. Use the FCP mode
buttons to select the output mode operations. Use
the VS/pitch wheel to change the output signal
parameter on the cursored line.
l3?
The Output Mode Parameter List describes each
parameter. This table lists a signal description and
modification range for each parameter.
The FCC outputs always show, but they can only
be controlled when both computers are in
diagnostic mode (use both FD buttons on the
FCP; TEST annunciates on both PFDs). If it is
possible to control (modify) an output, the word
MODIFY shows as a column heading. If the active
(cursored) line can be modified, then EITHER,
BOTH, LEFT, or RIGHT shows on that line in the
MODIFY column.
Note that the EITHER and BOTH modify options
are not available unless both FCCs are in the
OUTPUT MODE (not just in diagnostics). Push the
XFR button (on FCP) to alternately select left- and
right-side display data to make sure that both
FCCs are in output mode.
When EITHER shows in the MODIFY column, the
left and right FCC logic outputs can be modified
independently. Push the left FD button, on the
FCP, to change the logic output of the left FCC.
Push the right FD button to change the logic
output of the right FCC.
When BOTH shows in the MODIFY column, the
left and right FCC linear outputs can be modified
synchronously. Push and hold the left FD button,
on the FCP, to synchronize both linear outputs to
the master FCC value, then change both outputs
in a minus direction. Push and hold the right FD
button to synchronize both linear outputs to the
master FCC value, then change both outputs in a
plus direction. The master FCC is the one that
supplies display data to the MFD (indicated by the
arrow on the center of the page and selected by
the XFR button on FCP).
l38
When LEFT shows in the MODIFY column, only
the left FCC output can be modified. When RIGHT
shows in the MODIFY column, only the right FCC
can be modified. Push an FD button, on the FCP,
to change the modifiable output.
The display source indicator (arrow) points left or
right to indicate which FCC supplies display data
to the MFD. In the output mode, this indicator is
especially useful. Both FCCs must be in the output
mode (not just in diagnostics) to fully utilize the
modify options. Since only one FCC supplies
display data to the MFD, it is helpful to push the
XFR button, on the FCP, and check the selected
mode of the other FCC before beginning
troubleshooting effort using the output mode. The
arrow also indicates the (controlling) master FCC
when both outputs are synchronously changed.
The output mode can be used to drive the servos.
First, set the 65APMN, 65YDMN, 86APEN, and
86YDMN parameters to TRUE. This sets the FCC
internal monitors to a valid condition. Then set the
AILCUT, ELECUT, and RUDCUT parameters to
FALSE. This sets the FCC cutout logic so that the
system can engage. Next, engage the yaw
damper and autopilot. Select the AILCMD (or
ELECMD/RUDCMD) parameter and move the
cursor to this line. Push the left or right FD button
to apply a servo command voltage. The control
wheel (or control column/rudder pedals) should
move as the servo runs. Note that the AP, YD, and
CUT parameters must remain set as described
above or the system will not engage.

FCP. Reversing direction several times
may reduce the rudder servo error
voltages to within tolerance.
Recommendations:
If, during the above test, the rudder servo error
(RSVOER) is not correct for the right or the left
side, a problem with the SVL-4000, FCC-4006, or
a wiring problem can be expected.
1. Swap the FCCs. Do the tests again and see if
the same results are observed. If the same
results are observed, then continue to step 2.
If the incorrect reading changes sides, replace
the FCC that is providing the incorrect results.
2. On the side (left or right) with the failed
results, use a meter to check the wiring
between the FCC and the SVL for continuity
and shorts. If no wiring problems are found,
replace the SVL and perform the test again.
l46
EXIT FCC DIAGNOSTICS:

Exit Diagnostics
Be sure to exit the diagnostic systems properly. It
is important to ensure that related systems are
taken out of test or diagnostic modes before flight.
An exit procedure is provided below.
EXIT FCC DIAGNOSTICS:
If FCC DIAGNOSTICS were used, be sure to exit
these diagnostics first. If these diagnostics were
not used, skip this step. Note: If both FCCs are in
diagnostics mode, exit both sides.
1. Show any FCC DIAGNOSTIC page.
2. On FCP, simultaneously push any three mode
buttons until TEST annunciation (on PFD)
goes out on selected side.
3. Make sure both FCCs are not in test mode.
The TEST annunciation does not show on
either PFD.
4. On DCP, turn the FORMAT knob to show the
MAINTENANCE MENU page.
EXIT MAINTENANCE MENU:
Always perform these steps after using MDC.
1. Locate the MFD2/MFD1/OFF switch behind
the pilot's seat. Set this switch to the OFF
position.
2. If preparing for shutdown, remove power from
all avionics systems.
