Overview
The Online Service System (OSS) is needed by SAP customers in order to communicate with SAP. SAP's OSS offers fast and effective help for R/3 System problems. OSS is also the core element of communications between customers, partners, and SAP. OSS is available 24 hours a day. SAP provides an application level gateway program called SAProuter. Its purpose is to act as a secure gateway into and out of your SAP environment. This is the required gateway for SAP communications. SAProuter is configured by means of a routing table. This defines both the permitted and the denied routes through your network. Once defined, SAProuter will only allow access to your network if the routes are defined in the route permission table. After configuring the OSS parameters, you need to install the SAProuter on Windows NT. This will allow you to establish the network connection between your computer and the SAP server sapserv4 , located in Foster City, California. Following are the steps which will allow you to do so.
