GOAL: Instead of solving quadratic equations like x 2 + 8 x + 12 = 0 , we want to solve quadratic inequalities like x 2 + 8 x + 12 < 0 . Question (a): Is x = 1 a solution to x 2 + 8 x + 12 < 0 ? Question (b): Is x = 2 a solution to x 2 + 8 x + 12 < 0 ? Question (c): Is x = 3 a solution to x 2 + 8 x + 12 < 0 ?
