DEFINITION OF TERMS

Dwelling- as well as being a term for a house, or for living somewhere, or for lingering somewhere, is a philosophical concept which was developed by Martin Heidegger. Dwelling is about making oneself at home where the home itself is any place for habitation. In the US, the legal definition of dwelling varies from state to state but most include language that defines characteristics for the purposes of habitation. In the UK, a dwelling is defined (in line with the 2001 Census definition) as a self-contained unit of accommodation. Gizmo or Gismo- may refer toTechnology, A gadget, a small device with a particular function Technology- is the making, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, machinery, and procedures. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments. Gadget- is a small technological object such as a device or an appliance that has a particular function, [citation needed] but is often thought of as a novelty. Gadgets are invariably considered to be more unusually or cleverly designed than normal technological objects at the time of their invention. Gadgets are sometimes also referred to as gizmos. Critique- is a method of disciplined, systematic analysis of a written or oral discourse. Critique is [1] commonly understood as fault finding and negative judgement , but it can also involve merit recognition, [1] and in the philosophical tradition it also means a methodical practice of doubt. The contemporary sense of critique has been largely influenced by the Enlightenment critique of prejudice and authority, which [1] championed the emancipation and autonomy from religious and political authorities. Critique is an accepted format of written and oraldebate. A personal digital assistant (PDA)- also known as a palmtop computer, or personal data [1][2][3] assistant, is a mobile device that functions as a personal information manager. Current PDAs often have the ability to connect to the Internet. A PDA has an electronic visual display, enabling it to include a web browser, but some newer models also have audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via WiFi or Wireless Wide Area Networks. Many PDAs employ touchscreen technology. A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals (LCs). LCs do not emit light directly. LCDs are used in a wide range of applications, including computer monitors, television, instrument panels, aircraft cockpit displays, signage, etc. They are common in consumer devices such as video players, gaming devices, clocks, watches, calculators, and telephones. LCDs have replaced cathode ray tube (CRT) displays in most applications. They are available in a wider range of screen sizes than CRT and plasma displays, and since they do not use phosphors, they cannot suffer image burn-in. LCDs are, [1] however, susceptible to image persistence. LCDs are more energy efficient and offer safer disposal than CRTs. Its low electrical power consumption enables it to be used in battery-poweredelectronic equipment. It is an electronically modulated optical device made up of any number of segments filled with liquid crystals and arrayed in front of a light source (backlight) or reflector to produce images in color or monochrome.

INVENTIONS AND DISCOVERIES

A long slow sequence of invention and discovery has made possible the familiar details of our everyday lives. Mankind's programme of improvements has been erratic and unpredictable. But good ideas are rarely forgotten. They are borrowed and copied and spread more widely, in an accelerating process which makes the luxuries of one age the necessities of the next. The story is a disjointed one, since inventions and discoveries occur in a random fashion. They are described here in an approximately chronological sequence.
The latest invention in technology Anyone would be greatly impressed by is the Hapsite Viper Chemical Identification System. Taking into consideration that chemical detection ability is vital for the troops, the Inficon Company developed the system that incorporates an infrared technology that allows the improved identification of toxic substances and chemical warfare agents in the environment during just a few minutes. The Hapsite System can be installed inside a vehicle or in open space. It is remarkable that the system is one thousand times more sensitive if compared to NATO demands for such a system. The use of the system implies greater safety for troops and civilians in the area.

Inventions for enviroment GREEN ROOFS Cities may be losing their green spaces to development, but all is not lost. Look up to the roofs of buildings, especially office blocks, and there, where once there was dead space, you could now find a "sky garden" (Barclays' HQ in Canary Wharf, London, has one). They could be used as community spaces, chill-out areas for hassled workers, or even to grow food. But there are other advantages for the bottom line, too: they reduce run-off in periods of heavy rain, and they cut back on the heat that gets trapped in built-up areas, thus reducing the need for air conditioning. They could even improve air quality in congested cities. SOLAR-POWERED CELLPHONES Germany's Fraunhofer Institute, an alliance of 50 technology research organisations, is looking at how to integrate solar cells into mobile phones, allowing them to be powered continuously on just two hours of sunlight a day. The big manufacturers are interested, as the more software that's packed into mobiles, the bigger batteries they need. LAR-POWERED LEDs Picture a world in which the kids have to stop reading because the sun has set. Or where you have to burn dangerous, dirty and expensive kerosene to see what you're doing. The Indian government hopes to remedy this sutuation, which affects 112,000 rural villages across the country, over the next decade. The solution is a combination of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and solar power
