Move needle position to far right. Wrap green dot fabric tightly around cord and place under foot. The wrapped cord is contained within the groove of the foot (photo 1). Place piping on one edge of the orange square fabric, aligning raw edges, stitching on top of the previous line of stitching (photo 2). Align this piece with the tucked orange and yellow fabric, raw edges even. Place under the foot so that you can see the stitched line. Line up this line with the groove on the top of the foot. Move needle position one position to the left and stitch (photo 3).

The walking foot comes with three soles. The one shown is the open sole that allows the most visibility. There is also one with a center guide that makes stitching in the ditch super easy.

Free Motion Quilting Attach BERNINA Stitch Regulator #42 to machine.

Lower feed dog. Thread with yellow thread; select Straight Stitch. Select preferred mode of operation---Mode 1 or 2. Layer large print fabric and batting using temporary spray adhesive to bond. Quilt as desired.

Tote Construction Attach Patchwork Foot with Guide #57 on the machine.

Thread with yellow thread top and bobbin. With right sides together, seam front to back at sides and bottom. Repeat for lining pieces, leaving an opening for turning along one side of the linings. Square off the bottom of the bag and the lining. Do this by folding the bag so that the side seam is even with the bottom seam forming a triangle. Measure up the same distance on each end and sew across.

After quilting is complete, trim the sides of the bag. Determine the maximum size you can trim to. Ideally it will be 10 X 14 . However, it may be a bit smaller such as 10 X 14. Whatever that size ends up being, trim both front and back to the same dimensions. Trim the two lining pieces to the same size.

Stitch across folded corner to form the base of the bag

Pin handles in place on the front and the back of the bag. Turn the lining inside out and place the outer bag inside the lining, right sides together. Sew around the top of the bag and lining. Turn through the opening in the lining. Press the lining to the inside of the bag. Sew lining seam closed. Top stitch around the top of the bag using the Patchwork Foot with Guide #57.

Making the Handles Attach Double Cord Foot #59/59C to the machine.

Thread machine with black thread top and bobbin. Select Zigzag Stitch at default settings. Fold long black cord in half; starting with cut ends of cords, place cord under the grooves of the foot. Zigzag cords together. Fold this piece in half and cut into 2 pieces. Once again, place under foot and zigzag together, so you now have four cords that make up the tote handle. Fold long strip in half and cut for two handles.
