Jangi Lal The foundation of Malwa Group (formerly called the VSO Group) was laid by Late Lala Vidya Sagar Oswal. In line with the vision of its founder, Malwa Group also runs India's second largest charitable Cancer Hospital. In 1997, Mr. Rishi Oswal, the Managing Director of Malwa Industries Limited started the denim manufacturing facility in response to the increased market demand for Jeans in the 1990's. Commercial operations started in 1997-98 and since then the company has been growing at a fast pace. Malwa's premier denim manufacturing plant is located at Ludhiana in the Punjab region, the heart of the Indian cotton producing belt. Its operations span India (where it is headquartered), Jordan & Italy. Its products are exported over 40 countries worldwide. The Company manufacturing units include Barnala unit, Paonta Sahjb unit and machhiwara unit. During fiscal 2010, the Barnala unit produced 11.37 million kilograms of yarn; Paonta Sahjb unit produced 8.165 million kilograms of yarn, and machhiwara unit 1.197 million kilograms of yarn. Cotton Waste generated during manufacturing is diverted to hand Carpet Industry for making World Class Carpets. This helps in the optimum utilization of resources. Rain Water Harvesting Rain water harvesting Plant is installed within factory premises at Machhiwara near Ludhiana. It stocks rain water which is provided for irrigation in the near by agricultural fields, free of cost. Rain water harvesting is believed to be one of the best methods of replenishing the water table there by giving back to nature what we take from it. It is yet another contribution of Malwa towards balancing the ecological system. Commitment Towards Society Malwa in a first of its kind initiative in this part of the country has partnered with the state government and local village community wherein treated water from our ETP shall irrigate about 600 Acres of land in nearby agricultural fields, thereby supporting the local farming community to over come irrigation problem. Malwa Group runs a 300 bed Charitable Cancer Hospital at Ludhiana (Mohan Dai Cancer Hospital ) which has State of Art facilities. This is second largest Cancer Hospital in the country. Malwa is also running a School to provide subsidized education for the children of its employees & workers.

Malwa Management organizes Yearly Health Camps for Community Welfare, attended in large numbers. Malwa is committed to community development. It actively participated in the construction of the village Community Hall, apart from organizing regular sport events for the local village community. Women Empowerment : Malwa has employed around 800 women workers from near by villages. These Dependent Girls who have come from a conservative background from families of Land Lords & Farmers are now very happy with the step they have taken to come out and work for Malwa. These girls in their young age have now transformed themselves into a Confident, Motivated, Self Independent and Outshining Personalities, apart from financially contributing towards their families. Malwa pursues the policy of No Discrimination on the basis of physical disability which has resulted in the upliftment of the needy & the oppressed. MANUFACTURING OF DENIM JEANS 1.Blow Room: In Blow Room the cotton gets cleaned, ironed and is placed in patches of 12ft.12ft. by Hi- tech machines then the cotton is transferred in other room through pipes for carding. 2.Carding Room: Here cotton is carded by carding machine.The carded cotton then passed through simplex machine where cotton comes in a spiral shape and the spiral cotton is placed in drum and taken to the ring machine. 3.Ring machine: Here the cotton is converted into small threads with rubber thread in the ratio of 80:20 and then the mixture is taken to the Ball Wraping machine. 4.Ball Wraping Machine: Now the mixture is converted into thread balls and then mixture is separated into 32 thick threads which shifts to the Dyeing Machine. 5.Dyeing Room: In this room the thick threads are dyed up into various colours like black, white and blue. 6.Long Chain Bearing:Dyed threads again separated into thin threads of size 3800-4000 mts. 7.Starch room : In this room the thread is passed through the chemical wash to give it strength and for making it more strong and the thread is again rolled and shifted to loom room.

8.Loom Room: In this the threads are winded together to make a cloth and the cloth is taken to the next machine for colouring and the coloured cloth is washed with cold chemical and then passed to hot water at 90C. and shifted to MCR M/c. 9.MCR M/c: Cloth is softened here and again it is washed by hot water in hot bath . 10.Extender M/c:Cloth is extended by breadth and length, passed by high temperatureat 190-200 C 11.Weigh finish fabric: Cloth is shrinked here.1 meter is shrinked upto 90cm and taken for inspection if, found any defects like (broken,coarse and loose) in the cloth that shifts by mending. 12.Mending: In this the defected or damaged fabric cloth is mended by renouncing its defects. 13.Cutting: The inspected and mended fabric cloth is not taken for cutting, rolled into rolls of about 80-150 mtr. and comes in B-Category whereas, cloth without any defects comes or falls in the Gold Category.

The material about 8-9 lakh of 80-150 mtr. rolls of clothes always available in the goddowns for export and for stitching.
