GENERAL INFORMATION Aalto University School of Economics Two Business Campuses

The Aalto University is created through a merger between the Helsinki School of Economics, the University of Art and Design Helsinki and the Helsinki University of Technology. The Aalto University creates a new science and art community from the three universities of technology, business studies and art and design. Merging the three universities provides possibilities for multidisciplinary and strong education and research. The goal for the new university is to be one of the leading institutions in the world in terms of research and education in its own specialized disciplines by 2020. More information: www.aalto.fi/en The Aalto University School of Economics (Aalto ECON) is the new name of the Helsinki School of Economics (HSE) which was founded in 1911. The Aalto University School of Economics engages in economics and business research and education. It is the largest institution of its kind in Finland with over 4,000 students. In 1998 the Aalto University School of Economics (former HSE) became an academic member of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS), thus enabling some of the Masters students to obtain a CEMS MIM (Masters in International Management Program) degree besides the Aalto University School of Economics home degree. The Aalto University School of Economics has two campuses: one in the city of Helsinki and the other in the city of Mikkeli. At the Mikkeli Business Campus, the Aalto School of Economics offers a degree of Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration (BScBA, a lower academic degree) with a major in the degree program of International Business. All studies for the degree are offered only in English. All courses are taught in the form of intensive three-week modules that run through the entire year. The degree can be completed in 2,5 years. As part of the degree studies students study one semester abroad. Students admitted to Mikkeli Business Campus take the Bachelors

It is also possible to complete a Licentiate and Doctors degree at the Helsinki Business Campus the doctoral program has its own admissions procedure and guide, see www.hse.fi/doctoralprogram. The applicant may apply and also be admitted both to the Aalto School of Economics Mikkeli and the Aalto School of Economics Helsinki, but can accept only one study right. 3.1

General Eligibility to Apply

In order to be eligible to apply, applicants have to have finished upper secondary school and to be eligible for university-level studies in their own country. An applicant must fulfill the formal eligibility requirement for admission to the Bachelors studies as defined in the Finnish Universities Law. An applicant can show this eligibility, for example, with such secondary education which gives an applicant eligibility for university studies in the applicants own home country (e.g. Finnish Matriculation Examination Certificate, High School Diploma or its equivalent, International Baccalaureate Diploma, European Baccalaureate Diploma, Vocational College Diploma (minimum 3 years), Reifeprfung Diploma, Community College Diploma equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree or A University or College Diploma equivalent to a Bachelors degree or higher).

3.2

Study Right and Possibilities to Study in English

It is possible to take the whole degree in English. See chapter 6 on further information for degree structures and degree programs at the Aalto University School of Economics. There are altogether seven choices for the 60 ECTS credit Bachelors major (five degree programs, out of which one has 3 fields of specialization). Out of them, there are currently three options to complete in English: a degree program in Business Technology; a degree program in Economics; and Finance a field of specialization in one of the degree programs offered. When admitted via SAT Reasoning Test, new students get a study right for both the Bachelors and the Masters degree. They start by studying towards the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration degree. The completion of the Bachelors degree according to the requirements is obligatory, no matter what the students background might be. On completion of

that, the students can continue studying for the Masters degree. The students will choose a preferred Masters degree program when taking the Bachelors diploma.

3.3

Admission Process and Admission Quota

The selection is based on the SAT Reasoning Test score. To be considered, the SAT Reasoning Test must have been taken in January 2009 or after. SAT Reasoning Test consists of three test sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. To be eligible to apply via SAT Reasoning Test to Aalto School of Economics Helsinki Campus, applicants must: 1) fulfill the general eligibility to apply AND 2) have a score of at least 500 in the Writing section AND 3) have a score of at least 1050 in the Mathematics and Critical Reading sections together (a minimum requirement, please also see statistics) SAT Reasoning Test is considered as a whole. Thus, the above-mentioned minimum scores need to be achieved in the same SAT Reasoning Test. Scores of the sections from several SAT Reasoning Tests cannot be combined. The admission process takes place among the applicants who fulfill the criteria for eligibility to apply mentioned above. Altogether a maximum of 38 new students with the best results will be admitted on the basis of the SAT Reasoning Test. There are two admission groups and quotas: Admission Group A 15 new students are admitted of those, who have taken one of the following high school degrees: - Finnish Matriculation Examination Certificate - International Baccalaureate Diploma - Reifeprfung Diploma - European Baccalaureate Diploma The selection of students is based on the order of the applicants total scores in the Mathematics and Critical Reading sections together. If there is more than one applicant with the same total score, the applicant with the better test score in the Mathematics section will be admitted. If the applicants points are still equal (on place 15), they will all be admitted. However, the maximum number of the students admitted cannot be any higher than 18. In such case, less than 15 would be admitted. Admission Group B 23 new students are admitted of those, who have not taken any of the above mentioned high school degrees, but fulfill the general eligibility to apply. In addition to SAT Reasoning Test score, also consideration may be used. However, the abovementioned three minimum requirements of eligibility to apply also apply to the admission group B. Consideration is based on the application form and its enclosures. The following may be taken into account: SAT Reasoning Test score of Mathematics and Critical Reading sections together applicants previous studies applicants motivation to business studies and taking the degree at the Aalto University School of Economics

4.1

General Information on the Eligibility to Apply and on Applying

The application period for the Masters degree admissions is from January 3, 2011 until February 28, 2011. The deadline in the Masters degree admissions is on February 28, 2011 at 16:15 (4:15 pm, GMT +2:00 hrs). The deadline for GMAT results and language test results (if required) is also February 28, 2011 (4:15 pm, GMT +2:00 hrs). 19

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS ADMISSION GUIDE 2011

___________________________________________________________________________
Applicants, who have not yet completed their degree of the admission group by February 28,2011, can also apply. If, however, the applicant is applying for admission with an incomplete degree, (s)he must make sure that the degree is completed by July 31, 2011. In other words Aalto School of Economics requires that the degree giving the eligibility to apply, must be completed by July 31, 2011. However, only studies completed by the application deadline, 28 February 2011 at 16:15, can be considered in the admission (completed meaning that the applicant is able to present a transcript or equivalent). When assessing fulfillment of the criteria for eligibility, those studies included in the applicants university degree/program will be assessed in the first place. However, in addition to the studies of the degree giving the eligibility to apply, also other studies taken at a Finnish or non-Finnish university/polytechnic may, by the decision of Aalto University School of Economics, be taken into consideration. However, only studies completed by the application deadline, 28 February 2011 at 16:15, can be considered (completed meaning that the applicant is able to present a transcript or equivalent). Note: The definitions for a credit i.e. old Finnish/Aalto credit and ECTS credit are as follows. One credit i.e. old Finnish/Aalto credit (opintoviikko) is equivalent to the input of 40 hours of work by the student (contact hours, lectures, exercises, seminars, and the students independent work at home, in the library, etc.), and one old Finnish/Aalto credit corresponds to 1.5 ECTS credits, ECTS = European Credit Transfer System (opintopiste). Only ECTS credits are used in measuring the extent of the studies. If the studies of the applicant are only measured in old Finnish/Aalto credits, Aalto School of Economics converts them into ECTS credits using the factor 1.5. If studies are measured both in old Aalto/Finnish credits and in ECTS credits, the latter system will be taken into account. If the studies have been completed abroad and are measured neither in old Finnish/Aalto credits nor in ECTS credits, they need to be converted into ECTS credits. See more information on the ECTS in: http://ec.europa.eu/education/lifelong-learning-policy/doc48_en.htm. If the applicant is required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Aalto University School of Economics expects to get the Official Score Report straight from the test organization by mail. The Aalto University School of Economics (former HSE) GMAT code is C1N0J-83 ("MSc Degree Programs"). For GMAT result the unofficial score report, if got from the test organization, is enough by the delivery deadline February 28, 2011 at 16:15, but the Official Score Report must come later directly from the test organization. Though an applicant has applied in the Masters admissions for a Masters degree program, there still remain options to apply also: Via SAT Reasoning Test to study for both the Bachelors and the Masters degrees at Aalto University School of Economics Helsinki Business Campus. However, if admitted via SAT Reasoning Test, taking the Bachelors degree at first is obligatory. To study for the Bachelors degree (BScBA) at Aalto University School of Economics Mikkeli Business Campus

ECTS credits ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits measure the workload of a full-time student during one academic year. For example a Finnish 3-year Bachelors university degree equals nowadays typically 180 ECTS credits (sometimes more). The student workload of a full-time study program in Europe amounts in most cases to around 15001800 hours per year and in those cases one credit stands for around 25 to 30 working hours. Student workload in ECTS consists of the time required to complete all planned learning activities such as attending lectures, seminars, independent and private study, preparation of projects, examinations, and so forth. The general idea of ECTS conversion of the studies that the applicant has taken outside of Finland is needed for the application (not course by course). Normally 60 ECTS credits are taken within one academic year (see above). Some examples of converting the international degree into ECTS credits: In a Chinese 4-year Bachelors degree (~160 credits) 1 credit normally equals to 1.5 ECTS credits (the degree totals to about 240 ECTS credits) In a UK 3-year BA degree (~360 credits) 1 credit normally equals to 0.5 ECTS credits (the degree totals to 180 ECTS credits ) In a US 4-year Bachelors degree (~120 credit hours) 1 credit may often equal up to 2 ECTS credits (the degree totals to about 240 ECTS credits) In a Russian degree the work load of the degree is often measured in hours. In Finland one ECTS credit equals 26,66 hours. Therefore 26,66 could in many cases be used as a divider to work out how many ECTS credits a Russian degree corresponds to.

ECTS grades The Aalto University School of Economics uses 5 scale grading system (ECTS grades) in the Masters admissions. As a principal rule, the normal rounding is used. That is, for example, a GPA of 3,49 in a scale 1-5 would be rounded to 3 and 3,5 to 4. There are some equivalents for the verbal grades in table 2 below. If the applicants university does not use 5 scale ECTS grading, the grades still need to be compared to ECTS grading and be transferred into 5 scale system in some way. Table 2 below shows how the grades in Finland and at the Aalto University School of Economics would be compared to the ECTS grades. Notice that only the passing grades are mentioned in the 5 scale system. A failing grade is not part of the grading, so if the grading is 4 scale and includes 1 failing grade, it is not yet a 5 scale system. Please see more grading definitions and converting of grades e.g. in http://www.enscm.fr/ects_system.htm. One-place-per-student Provision in Finnish Higher Education and the Requirement of Confirming the Enrolment to the University

In compliance with Finlands one-place-per-student provision in higher education, a student may accept only one student place in a degree program belonging to the joint university or joint polytechnic application and beginning during the same term (Universities Act 558/2009). Separate admissions to higher education institutions are not included in this provision. The academic term (from 1 August to 31 December or 1 January to 31 July) is the set framework for implementation. The provision does not prevent acceptance of a place in another degree program during another academic term. In practice, the one-place-per-student provision means that a person who has already accepted a place for a degree program in a university or polytechnic in Finland cannot accept another opening during the academic term in question. An official letter of acceptance will contain details on this requirement. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Studies and Registrar, Admissions, tel. +358 9 4703 8238 or +358 9 4703 8235.

___________________________________________________________________________
Note: Confirming the enrolment to the university is binding and irrevocable and it cannot be altered. If you have applied to several universities/polytechnics in Finland (e.g. Aalto University School of Economics Helsinki Campus, Mikkeli Campus, and some others) find out the results of all the selections to which you have applied before sending the confirmation form. The outcome of all the student selections in Finland commencing in the autumn will be announced in July, at the latest. Do not confirm the enrolment until you are sure about your situation. However, do note that the confirmation forms arriving after the prescribed time limit cannot be considered and the applicant loses the study right already once earned. The implementation of the one-place-per-student provision will be checked with the help of the universities' applicant and enrolment register (HAREK) and the polytechnics' applicant and study place register (AMKOREK). The registers are maintained by the Finnish National Board of Education. The applicant has the right to check his/her personal data from the registers. The registered information can be disseminated to education authorities, Statistics Finland, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA), the employment authorities and providers of student health care. In addition, the registrar can also disseminate registered names and addresses, with the applicant's permission, for marketing and education-related information purposes. The application forms have a place where the applicant can give permission or deny that.

5.3

Decisions on the Admissions and Confirming the Enrolment at the Aalto University School of Economics

The final decision on student admission is made by the dean of the School of Economics. The results of the admission based on SAT Reasoning Test to take both the Bachelors and Masters degrees at Helsinki Business Campus (as well as BScBA admissions of Mikkeli Business Campus) will be final on 8 July 2011. The first possible publication date of admission results of the Masters admissions is 28 April 2011. The applicants will get an official notification of the admissions results to their mailing addresses after that. The enrolment to the School of Economics needs to be confirmed. Students admitted for the Masters must confirm their enrolment on 30 June, 2011 and students admitted in SAT admission and students admitted for BScBA Program in Mikkeli must confirm their enrolment on 2 August 2011 at 16:15 hrs (4:15 pm, GMT + 2:00 hrs) at the latest. If the enrolment is not confirmed by the given time, the applicant loses his/her right to study at the Aalto University School of Economics. See also chapter 5.2. If an applicant declines admission to the degree program/s at the Helsinki campus, no other applicant will be selected instead, i.e. there is no waiting list system.

5.4

Duration of Study Right Time Frames for Taking the Degrees

According to the Universities Act 558/2009, the student has a right to complete the studies leading to a Bachelors or Masters degree according to the degree regulations and syllabus of the university in question. A student must register to the university either as attending or non-attending every year (within the time limits for registration set by the university). Should (s)he fail to do that, (s)he loses the study right and has to plead the university to allow him/her to get it back.

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS ADMISSION GUIDE 2011

36

The standard time for taking the Bachelors degree is 3 years and for the Masters degree 2 years. Sometimes, for undefined reasons, a student may end up studying for a longer time. However, based on the Universities Act the following limitations have been set nationwide, parentheses include the Aalto University School of Economics degree for which the limitation in question affects. A student admitted to study for the Bachelors degree only, must complete his/her degree in four years (the maximum given). In addition to this, the student can be non-attending for four terms (the maximum given). This means that the student may register as attending altogether for 8 terms (4 years) and non-attending for 4 terms (2 years). (BScBA, the Aalto University School of Economics Mikkeli Business Campus) A student admitted to study for both the Bachelors and the Masters degree, must complete those degrees in seven years (the maximum given). In addition to this, the student can be non-attending for four terms (the maximum given). This means that the student may register as attending altogether for 14 terms (7 years) and non-attending for 4 terms (2 years). (SAT Reasoning Test admission to Bachelor's and Master's, the Aalto University School of Economics Helsinki Business Campus) A student admitted to study for the Masters degree only, must complete his/her degree in four years (the maximum given). In addition to this, the student can be non-attending for four terms (the maximum given). This means that the student may register as attending altogether for 8 terms (4 years) and non-attending for 4 terms (2 years). (Masters admissions, the Aalto University School of Economics Helsinki Business Campus). The student is considered to start the studies for the degree the year (s)he confirms his/her enrolment to the university, that is, the year (s)he is admitted to the university. The above time limitations start then. Being non-attending for reasons of voluntary military service, compulsory military service, maternity leave, paternity leave or parental leave does not diminish the time limits explained above.

5.5

Right of Appeal

Applicants unsatisfied with the result may appeal. The claim must be substantiated. The letter of appeal has to be submitted to the Office of Studies and Registrar of the Aalto University School of Economics within 14 days of release date of the result and addressed to the Aalto University School of Economics, Registry, P.O. Box 21230 (Lapuankatu 6, Helsinki), FI-00076 Aalto, Finland. A study right already granted may be cancelled if it is revealed that the applicant has provided the Aalto University School of Economics with, in any way, inaccurate, false or misleading information or if the applicant has not completed his/her degree of admission group by July 31, 2011.

5.6

Visa, Residence Permit and Insurance

Depending on your nationality and the length of your stay in Finland, you will need a visa or a residence permit. Visas are permits to enter a country. In Finland's case they are valid for temporary residence that does not exceed three months. Stays of this kind include holidays, business and conference travel.

37

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS ADMISSION GUIDE 2011

___________________________________________________________________________
Because of agreements signed by Finland, not all foreigners entering Finland need visas. For information about visas and visa applications, you may contact the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and all Finnish diplomatic missions abroad. A visa is granted for a maximum of three months. Students who intend to stay in Finland for more than three months must obtain a residence permit through the Finnish embassy or legation in their home country before their arrival in Finland. Notice: 1) Nordic citizens do not need to apply for visas or residence or work permits. 2) Citizens of the EU/EEA member countries will not need to apply for a residence permit until after arriving in Finland. The application for a residence permit requires a letter of admission to an institution of higher education and a proof that the foreign national has valid insurance with a solvent and reliable company or institution covering medical treatment. Because foreign students do not qualify for the Finnish health insurance system or for municipal health care services, the foreign nationals entering Finland for the purposes of studies are required to have some other comprehensive health insurance. In Finland, such insurance means insurance covering treatment and costs. Any student who submits a residence permit application on or after September 1, 2007 must attach details of their comprehensive health insurance cover to their residence permit application. Comprehensive insurance cover means insurance which includes the types of treatment and costs that are covered by municipal health care services and the health insurance system. For studies of less than two years in duration, a student must have private insurance which primarily covers the costs of medical treatment up to 100,000 euros (cost level in 2007). Where the duration of the studies is two years or more, a student will usually have a home municipality in Finland and is therefore entitled to municipal health care services. In such cases, it is sufficient for the insurance to primarily cover the cost of medicines (in practice the cover extends to doctors fees and costs of treatment and examination), up to 30,000 euros (cost level in 2007).

A student must have insurance cover when applying for a residence permit as without it a residence permit cannot be granted. A residence permit cannot be issued for a period exceeding the period of the insurance cover. The student residence permit is issued for one year at a time and has to be extended at the beginning of each academic year. Before a residence permit can be granted, a student must make a bank deposit in his/her own name and this must be renewed each academic year. Alternatively, a student must demonstrate that he/she has this deposit sum available for transfer to ones account for study purposes. There are no restrictions on how one uses this money. A charge is made for the processing of a residence permit application. The charge must be paid on submitting the application. It is a processing charge, which will not be repaid should the permit be denied. STUDYING AT AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS Academic Year and Teaching Methods

The academic year begins officially on 1 August and ends on 31 July. However, courses are mostly offered between from September to May. When starting the studies, the first term starts around the end of August with the orientation to studies, the objective of which is to familiarize the students with the facilities of the Aalto University School of Economics and the other new students, as well as to advise them on how to start and proceed with their studies. Later on, teaching usually begins at the beginning of September. The last exams of the academic year take usually place in May. The Aalto University School of Economics Open University offers some courses also during the summer time. The academic year is divided into two terms (fall and spring), which are further divided into two periods. There is often a mid term examination week between the periods. The fall and spring terms end with the examination term. There can also be examinations in between. The Aalto University School of Economics has actively adopted modern teaching methods and increased student involvement in the teaching-learning process. Presentation, teamwork, and communications skills are emphasized in teaching and special attention is paid to the use of cases, reports, and other assignments. The goal of teaching is to enable the graduating students get the skills that are necessary in working life: teamwork skills, communication skills, analytical skills and abilities to constant learning. Varied and interactive methods are used in teaching throughout the studies and students are encouraged to be active. Several courses are completed in parts. In addition to the traditional lectures and final examinations, the courses can have for example a starting examination, midterm examinations, exercises, essays, case works and/or oral presentations.

7.2

International Studies

The Aalto University School of Economics Bachelors and Masters students may study one semester at a business school abroad. Annually about 200 students have used this opportunity. Credits for completed courses are transferred to the degree. The credits completed during the exchange period usually form the students minor studies in the degree. There are a number of partner schools (currently about 100) all over the world, which accept the Aalto University School of Economics students as exchange students. As well about 200 exchange students from abroad come annually to the Aalto University School of Economics for an exchange period. Membership in the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS) provides the Aalto University School of Economics Masters students with an opportunity to apply for the CEMS MIM (Master in International Management) Program. Selected students can pursue the CEMS MIM parallel to their Masters degree. Students will complete most CEMS elements, including studies at home university and a semester abroad, during one academic year. The CEMS MIM is most suited for a student who is interested in languages, aims at a European career and is committed to a long-term study plan to achieve this goal. Already during studies there are internship opportunities with partner companies and the corporate partners may recruit CEMS graduates for permanent jobs. The Finnish corporate partners are Nokia, Kone, Stora Enso and Elcoteq. The credits completed during the CEMS MIM usually form the students minor studies in the Aalto University School of Economics Master degree.

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS ADMISSION GUIDE 2011

___________________________________________________________________________ 7.3 Cost of Study

Since higher education is funded by the state through the Ministry of Education, students taking the Bachelors and Masters degrees have paid no tuition fees. There has been some discussion that this may change sometime in the future. The student associations charge an annual membership fee (90-110 ), which is compulsory for all university students studying for their Bachelors or Masters degree. That fee also includes a compulsory health care payment that entitles the students to inexpensive health care services (Finnish Student Health Service). The students get a student ID card which gives them also some other discounts, for example an affordable lunch at the campus. Thus, all degree-seeking students are members of student associations. At the Aalto University School of Economics, all the Aalto University School of Economics students belong to the Aalto Student Association, which arranges cultural, sports and social affairs. There are a number of clubs for various hobbies, sports and cultural interests. Students have to pay for their books and other materials as well as housing and living expenses themselves. The minimum budget for a student for one month is around 700 (incl. rent, food, transportation) depending e.g. on the kind of housing the student is able to get. Note: the Aalto University School of Economics does not have any funds available to support students in need of financial assistance. Foreign citizens can get financial aid for studies from Finnish government only if they have lived in Finland at least two years for purposes other than studying, and their residence in Finland is considered to be permanent.

7.4

Accommodation

It is recommended that foreign students look for housing through one of the established student housing foundations. Housing can also be arranged through the student associations or regional student clubs. Admission to a university is a prerequisite for obtaining student housing through these organizations. There are two basic options students often use: Aalto University Student Association has several hundred rental apartments for Aalto students in the Helsinki area, see www.ayy.fi/en The members of the Student Association may also apply for accommodation from the Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region (HOAS), see www.hoas.fi. Most student apartments consist of single rooms and shared apartments with quite good public transportation to the Aalto University School of Economics. A lot of students in Finland live in these shared apartments, which are cheaper and usually easier to get than private housing. A shared apartment is basically a big apartment where every student has a private room and where the kitchen and bathroom are shared.

7.5

Student Health Services

University students have their own health centre, Finnish Student Health Service, which provides preventive health care, dental health care, and mental health care. The services include free medical examinations and consultations, vaccinations, maternity care, and general medical treatment. For specialists appointments and dental treatment a small nominal fee is charged. To receive these services the student must have a valid student ID card, which is get after paying the student association membership fee.

AALTO UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS ADMISSION GUIDE 2011

42

Because the Finnish student health service system does not cover all the medical costs of the students, foreign students are strongly recommended to have a medical insurance of their own while staying in Finland. See also the insurance requirements in chapter 5.6.

SAT REASONING TEST SAT Reasoning Test in the Admission to Take Both the Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Helsinki Business Campus

SAT Reasoning Test is given by an organization founded by universities and colleges for the purpose of assisting the admission officers in student selection: to help them compare the academic achievements of students from different schools. SAT Reasoning Test is taken in English. SAT Reasoning Test consists of three test sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. To be eligible to apply via SAT Reasoning Test to Aalto University School of Economics Helsinki Campus, applicants must: fulfill the general eligibility to apply AND have a score of at least 500 in the Writing section AND have a score of at least 1050 in the Mathematics and Critical Reading sections together (a minimum requirement, please also see statistics in chapter 10) The applicants who do not meet the above-mentioned criteria will not be given further consideration. SAT Reasoning Test is considered as a whole. Thus, the above-mentioned minimum scores need to be achieved in the same SAT Reasoning Test. Scores of the sections from several SAT Reasoning Tests cannot be combined if the applicant has taken SAT Reasoning Test several times, it is, for example, not possible to take the Writing section in consideration from one test score and the Mathematics and Critical sections from another. If multiple SAT Reasoning Test scores are provided, taking account of the time limits in the admission, it will first be checked in which test score the applicant has reached at least 500 in the Writing section. If, after that, there are still multiple test scores to look at, the test with the highest score in the Mathematics and Critical Reading sections together will be the one used. The minimum total score that can be get from the test modules Critical Reading and Mathematics in SAT Reasoning Test is 400 and the maximum is 1600. The maximum score for the Writing section is 800. The scoring of the test takes place in the USA. Aalto University School of Economics expects to get the test report directly from the test organizer. Even if the applicant has taken SAT Reasoning Test already earlier, the score reports still have to be requested by the applicant to be sent directly to the School of Economics. Please use the code 1700 (Aalto Universitys code). To be considered, the test must have been taken in or after January 2009 and the report has to reach the Aalto University School of Economics by 16 June 2011 at the latest. Please note that when applying via SAT Reasoning Test, the deadline for the application is 12 April 2011 at 16:15 (4.15 pm, GMT +2:00 hrs), even though the test results can be delivered after the admission deadline! In order to guarantee that the results will reach the School of Economics by 16 June 2011, SAT Reasoning Test should be taken no later than on 7 May 2011, for which one must register no later than by 8 April 2011.
