THE GOD WE KNOW IS THERE The world!s most famous atheist, Richard Dawkins wrote an anti-Christian work in 2006, The God Delusion. In this book, he ridiculed the belief that God existed. The cover boasts that it is, a compelling case that belief in God is not just wrong but potentially deadly and It also offers exhilarating insight into the advantages of atheism to the individual and society. However, although Dawkins is the high priest of atheism, his words and his true beliefs do not always match up. There are times that the mask slips and he lets us see a glimpse of his intuitive understanding. THE EVOLVING ATHEIST! In 2008 Dawkins debated the Oxford mathematics professor, Dr John Lennox at the University of Alabama. Lennox grew up in Northern Ireland and claims to be an Evangelical Christian. So powerfully did Lennox destroy the atheistic arguments in the debate that Dawkins was forced to concede, A serious case could be made for a deistic God. In other words, he was not so sure of his militant atheism. This 2008 admission was followed by another last week when Dawkins debated at Oxford University with the Anglican Archbishop, Rowan Williams. When referred to as an atheist, Dawkins corrected the chairman by saying that he is actually an agnostic, as he has no way of disproving God!s existence. " It seems the atheistic world need now search for another leader! THE BIBLE SPEAKS Th e re a so n D a wkin s o cca si o n a l l y expresses doubts in his atheism is that he knows deep down it is not true. The Bible makes it clear that no one is born an atheist! All of creation broadcasts 24 hours a day universally the existence of a Creator. For instance, the laws of nature presuppose a lawgiver. The Apostle Paul tells us that all men instinctively understand that God is our Creator: Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:19-20).

The Apostle also tells us that all men have the Moral Law or God written on their hearts, which their conscience accuses them of violating. He argues all men have, the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another (Romans 2:15-16). , The wisest king, Solomon, who walked this planet tells us that there is an intuitive knowledge in every man of eternity. He tells us that God has set the world in their heart, so that no man can nd out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The Hebrew word translated world here can also be translated eternity. So the instinctive knowledge of eternity, God!s existence, and the guilt of breaking the Law of God cannot be erased. Studies by Oxford University in Britain and Japan have even attested that children are all born with this knowledge i.e. they are wired to believe in a Creator. Dr Justin Barrett, a senior researcher at the U n i v e r s i t y o f O x f o r d! s C e n t r e f o r Anthropology and Mind admitted in a 2008 study, The preponderance of scientic evidence for the past 10 years or so has shown that a lot more seems to be built into the natural development of children!s minds than we once thought, including a predisposition to see the natural world as designed and purposeful and that some kind of intelligent being is behind that purpose. Barrett even accepted that theism was natural and evolution was an unnatural worldview, If we threw a handful on an island and they raised themselves I think they would believe in God. Children!s normally and naturally developing minds make them prone to believe in divine creation and intelligent design. In contrast, evolution is unnatural for human minds; relatively difcult to believe. CONCLUSION Science has improved our understanding of life but it cannot account for everything. Science cannot explain: Mathematics and logic (science cannot prove them because it presupposes them), Ethical judgments, Aesthetic judgments (the beautiful, like the good, cannot be scientically proven), and, ironically the Science Method itself.

Sermon Outline
WHO IS JESUS CHRIST? (John 1:29-34) The central gure of all history is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the great theme of the Scriptures. In the world today there are many conicting opinions about Jesus Christ. Some say He is merely a good prophet whereas others say He is just a role model or example. However, let us nd out today what the Bible says. That must be the ultimate authority. There are two vital questions that you need to know the answer to in order to enter heaven: Who is Jesus Christ? What did He come to earth to do? John the Baptist gives us the answer in John chapter 1. He will describe the: (1) PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST (2) PURPOSE & WORK OF JESUS CHRIST

the sacricial death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36). To all of our visitors today, we encourage you to think about your life. For the life we live is temporal and eternity is closer today than yesterday. A poet inscribed on a headstone of a grave in Ireland, Consider man as you pass by, As you are now so once was I, As I am now soon you will be, Consider, man, eternity. In Christ Pastor Paul Ferguson

So, we must recognise these limitations in our understanding of life. The reality is that all of us know intuitively that there is a God. We know that we have sinned against His moral law. That is why we have a conscience that is independent of us, as we cannot erase it. It keeps reminding us of the guilt of our sin and the judgment to come for our sin. Death and hell for sin are realities. The only hope for every man is to seek forgiveness for our sins by faith alone in

Let us watch how we walk The word #walking! is often used as a metaphor of life!s journey. The Bible has mentioned walking with God many times. One of the most notable character is found in Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he! was! not; for God took him. So, what does it mean to walk with God?" " First, it means we must go in the same direction as God following Him. Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light Second, it means to keep in step with God willing to be shepherded by Him, willing to obey God and to submit our will unto His, to" abide in Him. Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not full the lust of the esh. Third, to walk with God means"to see Him as the goal and destination of our journey. 1 Thessalonians 2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. However, there is another type of walking; it is the actual act of walking. How do we normally walk? Do we walk with a spring in our step or do we drag our feet as we walk? Let me explain why this can be important. Many years ago, when our children were just toddlers, our family used to go on Sunday afternoon drives around Singapore. We particularly loved the countryside and the farms. I remember that one afternoon we drove by a rather narrow road and came across a lovely chapel on a little slope. I saw people walking towards the chapel purposefully. As our car was passing by, I could not help but to turn back and gaze at the people. I wondered to myself: These people must be really godly to want to come to such a far out church on a hot and humid Sunday afternoon! Some time passed and it happened that our family wanted to look for a permanent place of worship. I recalled the lovely chapel by the road and the people walking purposefully. After an interesting hunt, we nally found the church next to Tengah Air Base. This is how we came to Tengah Bible-Presbyterian Church. It has been a good thirteen years since that day. I thank God exceedingly for the feasting on His Word and for the fellowship of all our friends here. Therefore, let us watch how we walk same direction as God, keeping in step with our Saviour and making Him our goal and direction in life. Let this be shown with a spring in our steps as we enter the house of worship every Sunday. --Joyce See

Ministry Update
Chinese Workers Gospel Outreach By the grace and mercies of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, He has enabled us to begin a Gospel Outreach to the Chinese national workers living in the dormitories along Murai Farmway and Jalan Lekar since 25 December 2011. This weekly Chinese Gospel Outreach service commences at 7:30pm. At 9.30pm, the chartered buses bring them back to their respective dormitories. We thank God that the attendance is an average of 35 people. Through this weekly outreach, the Lord has convicted 46 of them of their sins and they have confessed and accepted Jesus to be their Saviour and Lord. Each Sunday evening, the workers will start arriving around 6.45pm. Upon arrival, they will take their dinner at the Abraham tent. Dinner is catered package meal and tea. After dinner, the workers will go to sanctuary for singspiration followed by the message. The service will end around 8.30 pm. For the next one hour, the new believers will attend the Basic Bible Knowledge (BBK) class while the baptized believers will attend the Discipleship class. The BBK class is conducted by Dn Poh to equip the new believers with the basic Bible knowledge and to prepare them for baptism. On the other hand, the Discipleship class, conducted by Preacher Wong, is to teach and equip the baptized believers with more Bible knowledge as well as skill set to prepare them to lead worship service and Bible study when they return home. The class size for the BBK class is about 10 on the average, while the average attendance of the Discipleship class is about 6. For the unsaved ones, they will adjourn to Abraham tent whereby some of our members will continue to fellowship and share the Gospel with them over refreshment. We also thank God for the willing hands from our various Bible Study groups and the PA crews who co-labour with us in this new gospel ministry. The Bible Study groups have provided the logistic supports for this ministry like going with the bus to the dormitories as bus marshals to bring in the Chinese nationals, greeting and ushering the Chinese nationals when they arrive at church, distributing the package meals and drinks to them for their dinner and nally clean up the fellowship hall after the Chinese nationals departed. Their active participation has enabled us to kick start this outreach very quickly with the shortest preparation work. Through their participation, we could also see their passion for lost souls and their willingness to go the extra mile for our Lord. We are now able to establish a standing duty roster for every week. This xed roster will enable us to sustain the logistic supports of this ministry and also make it easy for our members in their planning. We also thank God for the PA crews who stay on and continue their PA duty for this evening service that takes them into the night. Many of them are the youths and young adults. We thank God for their ready response to call of duties and love for our Lord. We also see more pianists being rostered too. For all who serve in this ministry, we know that our Lord will bless them richly too. Dearly Beloved, the Chinese workers population in these dormitories which we are reaching out to is about 1,000. Comparing with the 30 plus of them coming to our church, there is a still very big group of lost

souls out there. There is indeed a large gospel eld for us to harvest and much work to be done. In the recent few weeks, we had noticed that other groups also actively inviting these same groups of Chinese workers to their activities. The devil is indeed working hard to resist our efforts. The work for our Lord is urgent! Besides having this weekly worship service and classes, we also will need to work on conducting weekly prayer meeting with them; as well as Bible study classes to build up their biblical knowledge and to strengthen their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Many of them have to work late and are not able to join in our weekly prayer meeting or Bible studies at church. As such, these meetings will have to be done on weekday evening and outside their respective dormitories. Who are willing to spend their weekday evening with these precious souls? May our Lord raise up His own choosing to reach out to them in these areas of work. These Chinese workers are very mobile. They will return to China when their contracts expire and may not come back again. Even if they do come back to Singapore, they may not return to these dormitories again. Even for those who are currently living in these dormitories, their employers can move them to other dormitories at any time because of cost. Therefore, there is a need to maintain regular contact and correspondence with them, probably through electronic means such as sms, email, website etc. We thus need someone who is capable in this to help us to establish a website and a channel so that we can continue to feed them God!s Word. The harvest is indeed white but the labourers are few (Matt 9:37). Dearly beloved, if our Lord has laid the burden on your heart, we welcome you to join us and labour together in this ministry. If you are unable to be with us physically, please do pray for the Chinese workers and this gospel outreach ministry such that more lost souls can be saved into our Lord!s kingdom, faith of the Chinese brethren strengthened and above all, the name of our Lord be gloried. Amen. --Dn Poh Ee Huat

New Life I thought sure I'd go to Heaven, Had worked hard a place to win; Then I read where God pronounced me dead in trespasses and sin, Dead in sin, can dead men labor? What good works can dead men do? Dead in sin, no hope of Heaven, What may I aspire to? In despair I cried to Jesus, Sinner's Hope and sinner's Plea; Chorus: All my sins He took upon Him,

But He gave new life to me. All my sins He took upon Him, But He gave new life to me. Death for sin, a dreadful sentence, And the law will have its way; But the sinless One in mercy undertook the price to pay. Dead in sin, but Christ the Saviour For this poor lost soul has died; And the hope of ransomed sinner Rest upon the crucied. In distress I cried to Jesus, Sinner's hope and sinner's Plea
