Fund Name: Awards for All Next Deadline Date: ongoing Website: www.awardsforall.org.uk Grants: 300 to 10,000 Awards for All will fund projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them. It is for voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations, parish and town councils. Projects must meet one or more of the following outcomes: People have better chances in life - with better access to training and development to improve their life skills. Stronger communities - with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems. Improved rural and urban environments - which communities are better able to access and enjoy. Healthier and more active people and communities. The application form is available on the Awards for All website, together with further guidance and information. You will find out if your application is successful within six weeks.

Fund Name: BBC Children in Need Next Deadline Date: 15th April 2012 Website: www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/grants Maximum grant: 100,000 (very rare) BBC Children in Need provides grants for up to three years to properly constituted not for profit organisations working with disadvantaged young people aged 18 or under. Within the BBC Children in Need grants programme, organisations can apply for Small Grants of 10,000 or less per year for up to three years and for Main Grants of over 10,000 per year for up to three years. Funding is available to organisations (including schools) that work with young people who are suffering from illness, distress, abuse or neglect, are disabled, have behavioural or psychological difficulties and / or are living in poverty or situations of deprivation. Fund Name: Cory Environmental Trust Next Deadline Date: 5th April 2012 Website: www.coryenvironmental.co.uk Average Grant Size: between 500 and 80,000

The Cory Environmental Trust will fund work in the following areas: Opening up access for the public to an area of land that has been closed or partially closed up to now. Cleaning up of land that has been polluted because of now ceased activity. Helping to improve, protect, provide and/or maintain land or a building as a public amenity. Protecting the environment, and conserving or promoting biological diversity. Helping to preserve, maintain, restore and/or repair a religious building or one of historical or architectural interest. Separate funds are available for groups and organisations based in Colchester, Essex, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock. Fund Name: Garfield Weston Foundation Website: www.garfieldweston.org Next Deadline Date: Ongoing Grants from: Various amounts The Foundation supports organisations working in the following fields: arts, community, education, welfare, medical, religion, youth and environment. The Foundation only considers applications from UK registered charities (unless you have exempt status as a church, educational establishment, hospital or housing corporation). The Foundation will fund project costs, but hesitates to fund a specific salary. Applications should be sent by post. There are no formal deadlines, but organisations should allow four months for a final outcome. Application forms can be downloaded from www.garfieldweston.org. Send it to the foundation with a covering letter, your accounts and annual report.

Fund Name: The Henry Smith Charity Website: www.henrysmithcharity.org.uk Next Deadline Date: None Average grant: 26,000 per year Provides grants for work with groups that experience social/economic disadvantage. The Charity will fund revenue and capital costs over a number of years. The Main Grants Programme is for grants of 10,000 per annum or over. There are two types of main grant; capital grants (one off grants for purchase of refurbishment of a building or purchase of specialist equipment), or revenue grants (grants of up to three years for core costs or the running costs of a specific project). The Small Grants Programme is for grants of under 10,000 per year. To be eligible for a small grant, your annual income must be below 150,000.

Fund Name: Jill Franklin Trust Website: www.jill-franklin-trust.org.uk/ Next Deadline Date: Grants from: 500 to 1,000 The Jill Franklin Trust is looking to support the following activities: Self-Help groups, advice, training, and employment; to support people with a mental illness or learning difficulties, and their carers (parents etc.). Respite care, and holidays (in the UK only). Grants for holidays are only given where there is a large element of respite care and only to registered charities, not to individuals. Organisations helping and supporting refugees and asylum-seekers coming to or are in the UK. The restoration (not improvement) of churches of architectural importance (half a page in Pevsners Buildings) and occasionally to other buildings of architectural importance. The church should be open to visitors every day.

To apply for a grant, send an email to jft@jill-franklin-trust.org.uk, or a letter to Norman Franklin, Jill Franklin Charitable Trust, Flat 5, 17-19 Elsworthy Road, London, NW3 3DS enclosing the following details: Details of the project Budget for the project Annual report and accounts Contact telephone number Fund Name: MSE Charity Website: www.msecharity.com Next Deadline Date: 31st May 2012 Grants up to: 5,000 Grants are available to groups or charities looking to develop projects that will help to educate people about money/debt/consumer issues. Projects must adhere to the following criteria: Projects must assist people to improve their quality of life through knowledge and understanding of how to manage and take control of their own financial situation. Groups will need to demonstrate that they have researched and assessed the need for the project. Groups must demonstrate that the project will make a significant difference to the beneficiaries so the OUTPUTS must be achievable, measurable, deliverable within budget and within a time frame and be sustainable. Groups will also need to show that the project will also provide outcomes that will benefit their wider communities.

It will be necessary for groups to demonstrate that they has the skills, ability and experience to deliver the project. The MSE Charity will consider full project cost recovery, but costs must only relate to the project itself and not the organisations core funding. Projects must provide value for money Projects should seek to provide long term solutions rather than short one off events. For existing projects with a proven success record, consideration will only be given to those that can demonstrate that funding will be used to extend the project beyond its existing boundaries in terms of the scope of project, number of beneficiaries and/or time frame.

Apply online on the MSE Charity website. The application form will be available between 1st May and 31st May. Apply early in the month, as only the first 40 applications will be considered by the Trustees.

Fund Name: Percy Bilton Charity Website: www.percybiltoncharity.org.uk Next Deadline Date: ongoing Average grant size: 3,000 Supports organisations and individuals in need throughout the UK. The Percy Bilton Charity will give grants to charitable organisations assisting disadvantaged youth, people with disabilities and older people. Organisations can apply for grants towards furnishings and equipment, building or refurbishment projects. The Charity will consider capital funding for the following projects and schemes: Disadvantaged/underprivileged young people (persons under 25) o Supported housing schemes and educational and training projects to encourage disadvantaged young people who may be homeless and/or unemployed away from crime, substance/alcohol misuse and homelessness. o Facilities for recreational activities and outdoor pursuits specifically for young people who are educationally or socially underprivileged or disadvantaged People with disabilities (physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems) o Residential, respite care, occupational and recreational establishments for children, young people and adults with physical or learning disabilities or enduring mental health problems Older people (aged over 60) o Day centres, nursing and residential homes, sheltered accommodation and respite care for the frail or sufferers from dementia or age related disorders o Projects to encourage older people to maintain their independence.

The Charity has two grants programmes; a large grants programme, which provides funds for one off payments for capital expenditure of approximately 2,000 and over;

and a small grants programme, which provides donations of up to 500 towards furnishings and equipment for small projects. Applications for small grants are considered monthly. Apply via letter. Details of information needed by the Charity are listed on the Charitys website.

Fund Name: Variety Club Youth Clubs Grant Website: www.varietyclub.org.uk/how-we-help/youth-clubs Next Deadline Date: Ongoing Average grant: between 800 and 1,000 Supports applications for equipment for youth clubs, but can occasionally support the improvement of youth club premises, equipment and facilities. Applications must benefit young people aged 8-18 years of age, and have sustainability beyond one year. In addition, young people must have demonstrated an involvement in raising funds. To complete the application your organisation needs to be affiliated with a local/national youth organisation. How to apply download and complete the application form available from the trusts website and send it to the Trust together with quotes for equipment needed.

Fund Name: Woodroffe Benton Foundation Website: N/A Next Deadline Date: Ongoing Grants from: less than 1,000 The Woodroffe Benton Foundation makes grants towards: People in need, primary care of people who are sick or elderly or those affected by the results of a local or national disaster. Promotion of education. Conservation and improvement of the environment. Grants are for UK registered charities. Write to the correspondent for an application form and guidelines.
