Vasavi College of Engineering, An Introduction

Founded in 1981 by Vasavi Academy of Education, Vasavi College of Engineering represents a rich tradition of excellence in technology-based education. A premierleague institution among the affiliates of Osmania University, Vasavi College of Engineering owes its vision to Sri Pendekanti Venkata Subbaiah, a veteran statesman of Independent India. Vasavi College of Engineering, in its 30 years of existence, is a well reputed institution in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The college in its pursuit for quality in technical education has earned 3rd ranking in the State and 32nd in the country (source: Hindustan Times on 24th June 2009). With dedicated efforts of over two decades, Vasavi College of Engineering has emerged into a centre of excellence in engineering education, Vasavi College of Engineering provides a superfluous opportunity for students to exhibit their talents in different fields of culture, science and technology. With a student friendly campus, highly qualified staff and remarkable educational facilities it stands at zenith in engineering excellence.

About Euphoria:
Euphoria has been defined as, An excited and heightened state of happiness. This is our intention when we host our much anticipated cultural fest named Euphoria. Euphoria needs no introduction amongst student community of the twin cities. As the Vasavi's annual inter collegiate cultural festival, Euphoria continues to be one of the hallmark events on the festival calendar and an eagerly awaited one too. This is the time for students to exhibit their talents in various areas other than the daily academic activities. Over the years, Euphoria has hosted celebrity events with artists like Shivamani, Parikrama, Devi Sri Prasad, Benny Dayal and Toshi. Euphoria is set to follow this tradition and become yet another zest filled celebration of the spirit of youth.

Events: TRADITIONAL DAY :

As a pre-Euphoria event, Traditional day, the first of its kind was introduced in Vasavi College of Engineering. The day starts with a traditional pooja in the college campus followed by the events. It is a welcome change for all the Vasavians, who were eagerly looking forward for the new change in attire and look wonderful in their colourful sarees, sherwanis and kurtas. A lot of traditional events like the mehendi competition and the rangoli for the girls and kite flying and matka phod for the guys will be held. The highlight event of the day would be "Dandiya" where the students dance to the famous dandiya tracks being played by a student of our college.

KRITI :
A resounding success since its first year, KRITI has always amazed and inspired the admiring public with the immense talent creativity of students, who present their ideas in the form of paintings, murals, photographs and sculptures. The inspired works appeared in various hues, shapes and formats from sketches in pencil and charcoal to regular paper and canvas. It is the creative genius and exceptional artistic sensibility of the students. The Kriti gallery, marked by beautiful exhibition of art are an eye candy and will enthrall everyone who like art.

VASAVI TALKIES :
Vasavi Talkies is our movie club with exceptional dramatic and acting skills and they perform with lot of flair and energy. The club has been actively helping amateur filmmakers in the college with their movies. The movie February 13 was among the top 10 movies in the country to be screened at Saarang the cultural fest of IIT madras, many of our short films have bagged awards in film festivals. Vasavi talkies will now be organizing a film festival for euphoria 2012. The first day will have will have the Vasavi talkies film festival and point of view .The second day will have the short film competition and a movie quiz.

THEME BALLET :
This is our colleges professional dance group. They take a theme and enact it on the grand stage of Euphoria. They are unmatched in precision and co-ordination. The theme ballet performance remains one of the major attractions of the college fest.

ABHINAY :
Abhinay is the place where talent meets fun and is the dramatics club of Vasavi College of Engineering. Students from diverse fields of interest find their talent a platform. Students even get a chance to tap their inner potential and explore themselves. Every year, Abhinay perfomances explore numerous genres of dance and drama activities alike. Abhinay gets together to enact a skit on sensitive social issues to send out a message to today's youth.

9 DAYZ :
The 9Dayz band is the brain child of our music group. 9Dayz, the official band of Vasavi College of Engineering, plays a wide variety of genres including Rock, Pop and now Metal. They create an invigorating experience for the crowd. Apart from playing covers of popular songs, the band has etched a tradition of making their own compositions since its inception in 2006.

CELEBRITY NIGHT :
Fame, Glory, Skill, Performance etc all go hand in hand. A performance by a celebrity is matched by none, but the crowds of Euphoria. Euphoria has hosted vivid array of celebrities like Shivamani, Benny Dayal and Parikrama.

STUNT SHOW :
One of this years novel ideas is to showcase a bike stunt show. In this event professional stuntmen would perform the stunts in front of an overwhelming crowd.

BATTLE OF BANDS :
This event was proposed to showcase the musical talent in the twin cities and encourage it. We are inviting the best bands in town to participate in the competition to make it exciting and invigorating. Lets Rock n Roll.

ANNUAL DAY :
The Annual day of the college will be held and awards for excellence in Academic and Sports will be given to the Students. A panoply of sports will be held. Students from various branches compete with each other in sportive and friendly sprit in a variety of sports events.
