House Bill 1197

The legislation House Bill 1197 would prevent the placement of cell phone towers not currently under contract on DeKalb County K-12 school property. HB 1197 does not attempt to interfere with contracts already in place. The process Ten signatures of members of the DeKalb County legislative delegation were required to move the legislation forward for consideration: Rep. Drenner obtained 16 (of 18) signatures from members of the delegation. The legislation must now pass through the House Intragovernmental Coordination Committee before it can be considered by the full House of Representatives. The problem The chairman of this committee, Rep. Chuck Sims, has decided that HB 1197 should not be heard by the full House of Representatives. We need your help to respectfully change his mind. What can you do? Please let these legislators knowrespectfullythat HB 1197, the bill that would prevent the placement of cell phone towers on DeKalb County K-12 public school property going forward, deserves to be voted on by the full House of Representatives. If you visit the legislators office, you may need to write a note and leave it for her/him: Keep it short and simple, and feel free to use language from this flyer if it is helpful. You can send a brief, polite note in to a legislator while the legislature is meeting in session. One of the young people working as pages will take it into the chamber for you.
