INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPANY Pantaloon group is a large Indian conglomerate with diversified business interest and have been promoted by Kishore Biyani.. The company aimed at providing total satisfaction to the customers through wide variety of items, right pricing, pleasurable ambience, excellent service, best quality and convenient visual merchandising.

Pantaloon has been a pioneer in introducing the concept of mega retail stores in India called Pantaloons for the entire family In an extremely price-sensitive market like India, the Pantaloons chain of stores has been successful in maintaining the equilibrium between quality and price. Each region has a Regional hub. Under their control is several Distribution Collection Centres. The primary function of these DCC is to distribute the products across the PANTALOON retail stores

A pantaloon follows a divisional organisational structure and comes under Divisional Bureaucracy type of organisation. Decisions are taken centrally as well as locally at the regional level. MIS ARCHITECTURE The MIS is used by the head of the organization as well as the staff at different Regional hubs for taking localized decisions as well as keeping in tune with the central decision-making body.

Strict Mis flow is observed from the Head office, regional profit centre, merchandising, and Hr warehouses, Inward Picking, Dispatch Area Manager, category mangers, managers products packaged and team manufacturers.

Pantaloon India Organisational Structure

The organization structure shows that a Clustered Architecture approach will be suitable for developing MIS. O r g an iz at i o n is divisionalized but many decisions are centralized .Pantaloon opt for a Decision Support System which help them in capturing the customer data and further combine this data with back office applications for the fulfillment of their objectives. It deals with the unstructured problems; a model for decision making is required. MIS in pantaloons is followed at three levels strategic, tactical and operational, at all levels important decisions are taken and implemented regarding production, finance, and marketing. Reports of Daily revenue collection, Daily production and inventory sold, daily outstanding reports and decisions are carried on by board of directors and top level executives. General Managers are responsible for utilising MIS for taking decisions regarding Sale and supply reports, Inventory status report Daily product. Supervisors and operational managers use MIS to Product-type, Daily Procurement, Expenses, Inventories stock, finished goods.

Pantaloons MIS is used for production information system, Procurement information system, Marketing information system, HR information system, financial and accounting information system. Production information system is used for getting raw materials, Managing Demand and production and controlling surplus production. Procurement information system is used for procuring the material from wholesalers and providing technical knowledge. Marketing Information System is responsible for registering customer complaints forecasting demand stock maintenance channel management and combating competition. Financial Management System sets the accounting standards and managing accounts. HRM system plans the recruitment according to organizational policies and providing training, setting budgets, promotions and transfers. TRANSACTION PROCESS SYSTEM (TPS) estimates number of transactions with indications on mode and medium in an organization and it provides a scope to identify areas of automation in the organization to optimize transaction cost and time.
