The Awards Issue

The night of glamour is over and all that remains is for someone to sweep up the confetti and take down the streamer and pick up the scorched almonds. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed the evening, rugby and all. Congratulations to all those who picked up awards and to all those who contributed on and off the field to make this a memorable year. Particular thanks need to go to all those who managed and coached teams during the year and to those who gave up their time on committee. Natalie, Reid, Will, Sascha, Chris and Andrew, I would like to make special mention of the work that you have all done, which combined not only coaching and managing, but committee jobs as well.
Good luck to those of you sitting examinations in the coming weeks. And just a gentle reminder that the AGM is on Tuesday 8th November (after exams have finished), 7:30pm at The Dons Bar. It is important that we get as many people to attend to elect the 2012 Committee. The bar will be open (but not an open bar) and well get Brett (the guy who owns the bar, in case you didnt know) to serve up some unhealthy fried food.

Trial Dates 2012

With the cricket season clashing with football preseason and trials we have reached a compromise with the Hamilton Junior Cricket Club, for use of field space. While this is not wholly ideal for us as the University based club to have to work around a non-University organisations schedule, it is the reality we have to live with for the moment. Trial dates have now been amended as follows Saturday 10 March 2012 1:00pm-3:00pm Mens Premier and Premier Reserve trials Saturday 10 March 2012 4:00pm-6:00pm Womens Premier and Premier Reserve trials Sunday 11 March 2012 10:00am-12noon Mens 3rd/4th teams Sunday 11 March 2012 1:00pm-3:00pm Mens 5th/6th teams Sunday 11 March 2012 4:00pm-6:00pm Womens 3rd/4th teams Saturday 17 March 2012 1:00pm-3:00pm Mens Premier and Premier Reserve trials Saturday 17 March 2012 4:00pm-6:00pm Womens Premier and Premier Reserve trials Sunday 18 March 2012 10:00am-12noon Mens 3rd/4th teams Sunday 18 March 2012 1:00pm-3:00pm Mens 5th/6th teams Sunday 18 March 2012 4:00pm-6:00pm Womens 3rd/4th teams Squad numbers will initially be based as follows Mens Premier 15 players Mens Reserves 15 players Mens 3rd-6th teams 18 players each Womens Premier 15 players Womens Reserves 15 players Womens 3rd-4th teams 18 players each All Waikato Womens division allow 4 rolling substitutes, and currently the Waikato Mens divisions C/D/E have 4 rolling subs. Unicol will be asking WaiBop to allow the Mens B division to officially allow 4 rolling subs as well. Based on the events of this year it is also likely that there will only be 3 womens teams in 2012, in which case the 3rd team will have a maximum of 20 players in the squad. We envision entering teams as follows. Mens Federation Division 1 (1 team) Mens Waikato Division A (1 team) Mens Waikato Division B (1 team) Mens Waikato Division C (1 team) Mens Waikato Division D (0 team) Mens Waikato Division E (2 team) *As no Waikato Mens Division teams were relegated or promoted, they should stay the same as last year Womens Waikato Division A (1 team) Womens Waikato Division B (1 team) Womens Waikato Division C (1 team) *Even though in 2011 our Womens B Division team won the title we will be requesting they stay in that division for 2012

A big thank you to our 2011 sponsors:
