Warmth and Moisture Brings Blue

Significant year-over-year pasture and winter crop changes have occurred as a warm and wet winter has mended numerous areas. Pasture and winter crop conditions are greatly improved, particularly (dark blue) in Oklahoma and Texas, with additional improvement expected through April, due to a continuation of above normal rainfall. The Southeast may back-up though.

Pasture and winter crops are improved from last year across the South. Texas and Oklahoma show the largest year over year changes, while the Ohio Valley, Southeast, Mexico and the Southwestern States are improved, too. Northern improvement (light blue) is also noted as far north as Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Montana, where snow cover was/is missing.

About Allen Motew

Allen Motew has been an expert weather analyst for more than 35 years. Snow currently covers the Canadian Prairie, N Plains, Great Lakes and parts of the ECB too. Spring flooding is not going to be the issue it has over the past several years, except possibly a continuation of soggy soils (late planting?) in the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys.

Extremely moist conditions show over several districts in ND, SD, MI, IN, OH, PA and NY with above normal spring rains continuing this trend in many of these same areas.
