Series 626-54 Dual Fuel Burners Series 626-54 Dual Fuel Burners, of in sizes -3, -4 and 5 make possible the use of the

presently available high viscous furnace oil ( heated to a viscosity of 70 seconds Redwood I) in the range of 36 litres/ hr down to less than 7 litres / hr, with good flame characteristics within a limited range of lean (excess air) to rich (excess fuel) operation. Centrifugal Air Blowers CONTINENTAL blowers incorporate the best concepts in centrifugal machinery designs to give high efficiency performance. These are combined with the latest manufacturing technologies to minimize cost without sacrificing the sturdy and easy maintenance features for which CONTINENTAL blowers have acquired a strong reputation over the years. Self Proportioning Burners Self Proportioning Burner operates by reducing areas by cones within cones to control the air which gives the desired feature of constant air velocities at any point within the Burner turndown. As kinetic energy is a function of velocity, squared times mass, it means that the kinetic energy/oil capacity ratio is constant throughout the Burners turndown. Pneumatic Actuators We offer to our clients superior range of Pneumatic Actuators which are also known by the name of pneumatic quarter turn (90) actuators. Apart from these, we also offer to our clients their special versions which are available for half turn (180) applications. Features: Design utilizes a double rack & single pinion. Provides 3 point support for pistons. Comes with three carbon filled teflon guide bands which are balanced between piston and cylinder walls, helping in eliminating wear & increasing the life of the actuator. What is Procurement? Procurement is the acquisition of appropriate goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership to meet the needs of the purchaser in terms of quality and quantity, time, and location. Direct procurement and indirect procurement TYPES Direct Indirect procurement procurement Raw material and Maintenance, repair, production goods and operating supplies F E AQuantity Large Low T U FrequencyHigh Relatively high R E S Value Industry specific Low Nature Operational Tactical Examples Crude oil in Lubricants, spare parts petroleum industry

Capital goods and services Low Low High Strategic Machinery, computers

What is inventory management? Inventory management is primarily about specifying the size and placement of stocked goods. Inventory management is required at different locations within a facility or within multiple locations of a supply network to protect the regular and planned course of production against the random disturbance of running out of materials or goods. The scope of inventory management also concerns the fine lines between replenishment lead time, carrying costs of inventory, asset management, inventory forecasting, inventory valuation, inventory visibility, future inventory price forecasting, physical inventory, available physical space for inventory, quality management, replenishment, returns and defective goods and demand forecasting. Procurement of Raw materials:1.Raw Materials Procured: Scrap(old fabricated irons for shaping iron) Lubricant oils Nut bolts 2. Basic Requirement: Big lathe Turning machines Furnace(for melting) Mix of kerosene, oils, and diesel How they Procure their Raw materials:The basic raw material is Iron which is very costly to manufacture, therefore it is procured from specific vendors and scrap dealers. The procurement is done from a limited number of vendors so as to ensure timely delivery schedules and requisite quality of raw material. So this firm is dependent on these dealers and vendors no matter if they charge more as compared to the market rate. They use scrap for getting raw material i.e iron for making furnaces. The other important requirements are lubricant oils and nut bolts. They dont manufacture nut bolts but purchase it for the production process. Other basic requirements are big sized lathe which is used for different purposes drilling, turning etc. A lathe is a machine tool which rotates the work piece on its axis to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation with tools that are applied to the work piece to create an object which has symmetry about an axis of rotation. Turning machines are also important requirement for production of burners. Furnaces are required for melting iron to bring them into proper shape.

Procurement of spare parts:They procure spare parts from specific vendors as they are required for customised machines, so their old vendors are contacted for spare parts and other components. Their vendors are very limited because of special raw materials requirement which conforms to the specification of the machines and processes followed in the company. Inventories stored:Their inventory primarily includes scrap (iron), nut bolts, lathe blades, kerosene oils, lubricants, cement slabs. As these are the primary requirements for making furnace, the inventory system focuses on these things: Inventory system used:The Inventory control system generally used is periodic. Customised ERP systemFoxpro based as it provides the control and visibility needed throughout the operation to maximize profitability and consistently fulfil customer demand. The solution empowers process manufacturers to manage manufacturing operations with dynamic forecasting and scheduling, formula-based production and yield management, quality control, inventory management, complex product costing, and streamlined regulatory compliance. They use tally for accountancy use. The company was not able to furnish information about Multistage and Multiechelon Inventories. Vendor rating: The vendors are rated according to the goodwill they hold in the market, past record of delivery with respect to time and quality of raw materials. They also require a compulsory ISO 9001:9002 certification to ensure the processes of the vendors are in place. Hence the vendor rating plays an important role in finalising the vendors. Source Location: All major raw materials are procured from in and around Pune city only near the factory premises so that the transportation cost is less, delivery schedules are matched and also to monitor the processes of the vendors so that they can manufacture as per the requirement. Process of manufacturing:Works engineer visit vendor installation to check performance. Report submission of works engineer Then he goes to purchase department. Validation of report as per requirement and report given by works engineer. Then quotations are required (closed tender).

Organisation for purchasing function and delegation of authority:

Workers: They report to the Installation and floor supervisor. Burner Mfg: 50, Furnace:-25, Lathe:- 15(5 machine), Turning:- 6-7 persons Turnover- Over 100 crores Conclusion: The company Ray Enterprises follows stringent contemporary practices which are followed in the manufacturing units with reference to the Procurement Function and hence procurement activities and inventory management is studied. The report highlights various aspects of the practices followed such as special attention is given to safety and quality and hence the trade off is done on the grounds of cost most of the times but the quality and safety is of utmost importance. Also the furnaces used in the industry are both i.e. Electric as well as Diesel so as to meet the timely delivery of the materials. The use of electric-furnaces also contributes to the environment.
