PURPOSE OF STUDY & PROFESSIONAL PLANS:-

My name is Saqib Baig and I have completed my baccalaureate degree in Electronic Engineering with Honors . While reasoning my intentions to pursue Masters in Electrical Engg at California state University Northridge , I would like to throw some light on my educational career uptil now, Ive always fancied myself with Computers right from my childhood and thought of becoming a Electronic/Computer majors . A career in Engineering seemed the most challenging and logical extension of my abilities. My interest in applied sciences goes back to my college days. Also during my undergrad degree, I designed & built basic circuits to complex circuits(Such as:Power Supply , Uninterrupted Power Supply , Frequency Generator , Amplifier , Thermometer with LED display , Controlling 10 electronic devices with the help of PC, CRC & some CCNA & CCNP labs) all the way through upto my final year. Along the way, however, I realized that the problem-solving aspect of making electronic gadgets was what I enjoyed the most.

I wish to earn an MS degree in ElectricalEngineering. I intend to follow this up with a Ph.D., and later, a career in

research and teaching. I have spoken to my professors, seniors and colleagues about my choice of University, and have applied to because it is reputable for its research facilities and computing resources. The department web site revealed a very strong faculty involved in extensive research . This has strengthened my resolve to study at USU Norhridge.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND & RESEARCH INTERESTS:-

During my undergraduate studies at the Electronics Engineering department of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology the subjects like Power Electronics,VLSI,Digital Electronics,Electronic Devices & Circuits (I & II),Microcontrollers, Microprocessors, Clanguage, Computer Networks & Data Communication (I & II) caught my interest. I was fascinated by the potential of 8086/8088 processor ,no wonder they revolutionized the working of computers in a decade. I was by then determined to focus on microprocessors/controllers/image processing/IR sensing during my Final Year project and successfully achieved it.

I bring along a strong grasp of fundamentals in Electronics and Computers(Specifically in Microprocessors , Microcontrollers & some in Java and C language),an

aptitude for teaching and team work, a zest for challenges and an enthusiastic desire to learn all I can. I would like to take with me, in addition to knowledge of Computer Networks, a network of strong and lasting relationships with my teachers and fellow-students. I hope that my background and qualifications are found suitable for an MS in Electronic Engineering at University of Western Ontario.

The course has been designed to give me insight into the world of academic and industrial Electronics/computing research. By focusing on several currently active areas I can have the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the topics of the course and in doing so, to develop the skills necessary to carry out innovative work within the discipline of engineering. I strongly believe that a Electronics major should be instinctive, innovative, quick to adapt and adopt new technologies, which is only possible with solid foundation and profundity in his subjects. This entails thorough understanding of the intricacies of the subject. Thats the reason why I am inclined towards M.Sc in Electronic Engineering. I am sure that with my interaction with the faculty and peers at your university,it will provide an ambience conducive for my transition from a bachelors to a Masters of Electronic Engineering . It is my strong belief that graduation from this institution will take me close to

achieving my ultimate goal . While my sights are firmly set on graduation, it is my strong desire to pursue research program following my graduation in any area of myriad research fields within Electronic Engineering like Communication Systems & Data Networking or Robotics & Control or Microsystems & DSP or Power Systems or Software etc.
