EDITOR'S NOTE:

After presenting p`Bau smarNa last year, we are now encouraged to present p`Bau icaMtna,
our offering on the occasion of the Golden jubilee of Narasinha Havan at
Veling, Goa on November 3-4-5, 2011. A few stao~s have been rewritten. I hope
the saamaUihk Bajanas and additional bhajan collection will spice up today's need of
singing God's glories.
We have a centuries-old glorious history behind us and we need to
remind ourselves the sacrifices our Saraswat forefathers made. Communal
living, temples, spirituality and tradition of idol worship bound them together to
their roots. Natural intelligence coupled with a strong belief in the Lord took
them to prosperity wherever they went.
We all are children of one God, each of us a fragmental part of prmaa%maa,
the Supersoul. To serve our real father throughout our life is our natural duty
and to reach Him is our goal. God loves all His children and wants us to be
happy forever. We shall become His instruments to conduct His plan for us on
this earth. Let us serve Lord, like p`lhad maharaja and Radharani.
We seek dignity for every person in our society, by creating a social
condition through ancient and modern education. Individual YaaoDSa saMskars and
public welfare dova ya& like naRisaMh hvana sacrifices are aimed to strengthen the vaNaaEamaQama- prescribed duties and obligations, for smooth social order, happy living
in this world and thereafter.
Our forefathers lived very happily. Their spare time was well spent
collectively on spirituality. Today, our generation seems to be very busy,
chasing for instant material pleasures, but yet often seems confused, restless
and unhappy. Some of us are blessed with good modern education and
material prosperity. Now let us be guided by the universal Git philosophy, as
advised by the Lord himself : Bagavata naarayaNaona svayaM. We shall use our precious time
for saaQanaa, spirituality and achieve our life goal.

2. [ithasa OUR SANSTHN & HISTORY

By: Vman Krishna Nyak - Bangalore
Gomnt or Go, is the largest of Seven-Konkans saPt kaoMkNa claimed
by Lord Parashurm. ryan Sraswats from ancient Kshmir-Punjab who
settled here had rich heritage of worship in temples. Temples were active
centers of their communal life and noble living. No crimes and no courts! For
ages their temples, looked after their religious needs and Grmsansths ga`ama
saMsqaa looked after their material needs, agriculture, horticulture, public roads,
water supply, tanks and maintenance of temples.
Go Culture : Village community settlement units or ApraMt had kept
everyone occupied. Even kunaiba Aaidvaaisa farmer had ga`amadova for his place of
worship. All came together on every occasion, be there gaiety or grief.
Exquisite flowers, fruits or harvest of village were offered spontaneously first
to temple. Even the new clothes were first offered to Lord and later worn.
Temples provided religious study, discourse, held festivals, and encouraged
art, craft, painting, dance, drama etc. Large families had pooja room kUD with
statues of family God kuladova & wall full of deities. The society lent creativity,
time and support to temples. This enriched them to great prosperity.
Temple History :

Over 500 years ago, Lord Narasinha Stambh

baR*mailaMga is believed to have been brought by a Kshmiri Saraswat saint from

Punjb, to Sncoale, a village on West bank of Zuri river which is 12 km west
of Pond, or 8 km east of Vsco. The shrines of Laxminarasinha at Veling,
Shntdurg at Gothan and Vijaydurg at Keri originated from Sncoale.
There, EaI SaaMtadugaa- laxmaInarisaMh saaMKL\yaoM saMsqaana temple of ga`ama dovata is flourishing even
now.
The Portuguese invaded Go and ruled from 1510 to 1961. In the
wave of religious conversions in 1567, that is 444 years ago, they destroyed
about 300 temples in East Go, including ours. In 1568, again all tempes in
Bardez (North Go beyond Mndovi river) were raized and their was assets
were transferred to missionaries.
Out of 9 major recorded demolitions at Sncoale, SaaMtadugaa-, narisaMh,
ivajayadugaa-, Bagavait (saaMKL\yaoM) are prominent ones and are in existence now. Our
alert Sraswat forefathers, took help from fisher folk of Carnalla. Risking their
own lives, took timely action moving pMcalaaoih ivaga`h Murti, Stambh and
Shligrams to the other side of Zuri river in Pond tluka - a relatively safer
place, where Bijapur King ruled then. They first kept them near Veling under
8

The Banyan tree, located on the hill near the northern entrance to the tank
(Talayi) or EaI laxmaInarisaMh tIqa- and later shifted to the temple upon its
construction.
Who we are? : The sufferings and sacrifices of our Sraswat
forefather families may be largely unrecorded in the history pages. They fled
across borders, through dense forests, rivers and sea, under cover of
darkness, leaving behind every possession but valuables and family deity.
They sunk others in wells and rivers. Once a group of such 30 fleeing families
arrived at Kundpur coast by boat. The locals drove them out. They ran out of
drinking water and supplies. The boat went along river to Basrur. Locals were
afraid that the Portuguese may follow! The refugees used sign language to
convince Kannadiga locals who allowed them to stay in a graveyard near the
forest. Some died there due to tiger and snake attacks. Our Swmiji rushed for
help to Basrur, convinced locals, purchased some land and settled migrants.
Later a similar thing happened at Harkade. This is how just formed
Jeevottam Math proved a savior.
Golden Chapter page 54 of [ithasa -History by Chandrakant S. Keni,
records one such great son of the soil, Narayan Vittal Malya of Vern, Go
(where Mahlas temple existed). He moved to Kumta with his wife. This
couple sacrificed their whole life for Saraswat cause. With his wits and
wisdom, he won 5 lands at gaMgaaoiL\L, haonnaavar, vyakTapur, homaaDI, kasarkaoD, from
Keladi koLid King, for the use of the displaced from Go and their temples. In
1668, he constructed Sri Venkatesh temple at Gangolli and got land for ina%ya
ivainayaaoga expenses from Keladi Rni Chennammji. Later the temple was
donated to Jeevottam Math.
During the religious oppression, our Sraswat forefathers fled South to
costal Bhatkal, Mangalore, Cochin and neighbouring areas, with whatever
they could lay hands on and their family Gods. Some moved North: Kudal to
Kalyan etc. But they remained connected to their origin, culture, tradition,
customs and language for centuries.

Now there are over 135 Narasinha mahajana Kulvis in Go and more
than 700 spread in other states and are multiplying. Go was liberated in 1961.
Our Sansthn is very accessible since then. We shall repay our dues to our
forefathers by preserving our proud culture and regain further prosperity
through spirituality.

3. NARASINHA HAVAN
How I can be servent of Our Real Father?
By: Ganpati Krishna Nyak Mumbai
Narasinha Havan : 50 years ago, in 1962, as per the directions of HH
Shreepd Dwrakanth Teerth Vader Swmiji, our elders thoughtfully laid the
path to our prosperity by spirituality, by setting a tradition of annual Narasinha
Havan at the lotus feet of Lord Laxminarasinha at Veling, Go. Nyak,
Bhandrkar and many other kulvis from Mangalore to Mumbai participated in
this 2 day event on every Krtik Shuda Nevami-Dashami.
First Servent of God: Shankar Vaikuntha Nyak of GudeangadiKumt took the lead and started the tradition of Narasinha Havan. Later his
son Raghuveer Nyak,Sirsi continued and led the Silver Jubilee celebrations
with great pomp under the guidance of HH Shree Vidydhirj Teerth Swmiji
and now will again lead Golden Jubilee celebrations on November 3-4-5,
2011, Krtik Shuda Astami, Navami and Dashami. As devotees, it is our duty to
get actively involved in this spiritual experience.
Achievements: By the grace of Lord Laxminarasinha, in the last 33
years under the able leadership and dedication of Dmodar Narcinva Nik of
Mrgo as President and with the help of several other selfless kulvis, we
have been able to see the present glory of the sansthan development and the
surrounding serenity. Major facilities around temple have been upgraded
while maintaining old architectural and heritage values. With new leadership it
will soon reach further heights of popularity.
Present Progress: Our temple has been adorned with a copper
dome and golden kalash since April 2004. Six years ago on Mgh Poornim in
February 2005, in place of (baR*mailaMga ) Stambh, Laxminarasinha Vigraha maUitwas installed in the presence of HH Shree Vidydhirj Teerth Swmiji. Again
on Mgha Pratipad, 10th February 2009, Purusha, Bhandrkar Purusha,
Brahmo and Pike shrines were reinstalled in their new abode.
Our Noble duty : God is our creator and parent. He wishes us, His
children to visit Him as often as possible, spend quality time with Him in silence
and be happy and blissful for ever. So while visiting temple, as gratitude for all
what He has given us, take with you offerings, like p~M puYpM flaM taoyaM which He
10

has created in this universe in abundance. It is customary to pray and do some

for the day.

saovaa or ina%yaivainayaaoga

Before entering temple, beg pardon for any impurities, like wearing
leather belt, lapses in baa*ya Sauiw. Look at and pray to the sauvaNa- klaSa Kalash,
from where Universal Divine energy is flowing into temple. Touch the steps
and pray at the entry door for gracing entry and get ready for kRpaSaIvaa-d
blessings.
Be one with God in heart and as a child, submit offerings to His lotus
feet padkmala, then focus on His heart and eyes. Fold your hands, start chanting
EaI narisaMh maM~ or ! namaao Bagavato laxmaInarisaMhaya in your mind. Make minimum 3 ([cCa ik`yaa
&anaSai> - pUNaa-vatar ) or 4 ( cats~ao ivaYNaumaMidro ) or more rounds. (Recommended
rounds:Shiva 0, Durg 1, Vishnu 3, Rma 4, Mruti 5, Datta 7 and Ganapati 8).
After round, from close proximity pray inagau-Na $p and at full round, pray and
surrender SarNaagait namaskar. At the end, take tIqa- p`saad blessings with dovata smarNa. Sit
in the temple for some time chanting in mind naama jap and take Prasd. Before
departing pray, for kindness kRpad`iYT and get blessings and protection till you
revisit the temple at your earliest.

While in temple, possibly never ring temple bell loudly, except during
rati, Pooj and calling attention of devotees. Wear light coloured or simple
cloths. You will be able to see and enjoy the Lord's decorations better.
Cooperate to see that serene atmosphere prevail all-around you. Follow
common discipline and set noble example of sew for others to follow.
Cleanliness is Godliness. Never look for services from others. See how you
can serve some cause or someone in need. Do not use soap while taking bath
in EaI laxmaInarisaMh tIqa- . Actively participate in every ]%sava, Havan, Narasinha
Jayanti and Pratisthpana Day etc. and other events. Practice serving the
Lord as His eternal child and be happy.

4. Who Am I ?

[-Svar: prma kRYNa: saiccadanaMd ivaga`h.Anaaidraid gaaoivaMd sava-karNa karNama\ IIbaR*masaMihtII

By Dr. Seema H. Kini
God originally created this world by two of His energies: matter and
sprit. Material body exists due to Matter with Spirit in it. The sprit
consciousness or jaIvaa%maa is smaller than Material atom and is One ten
thousandth of the tip of hair. Any layman knows that the material body without
consciousness is a dead body, and it begins to decompose. Due to My, a
layman thinks that he is the same as his body and engages in so called
enjoyments. Shankarchrya counters this with his wise words:I am a minute
part of Supreme eternal being: symbol of truth, absolute knowledge, bliss and
joy.
God lives in 'absolute' world. There are no negative things like hunger,
birth, death, old age, sickness, darkness, etc. pUNa-mad: pUNa-imadM pUNaa%-pUNa-maudcyato. pUNa-sya
pUNa-maadaya pUNa-maovaavaiSaYyato II There is absolute bliss means there is no sorrow

Bhagawn Krishna in Git says that jaIvaa%maa and prmaa%maa or the

friends, where from comes our memory, knowledge and forgetfulness. He
further says, mamaOvaaMXaao jaIvalaaoko jaIvaBaUt: sanaatna: II 15.7 II Being His fragmental

Here, while living in this world, we have to achieve our life goal. We
should strive to achieve jaIvanmau> or a liberated state. Or be situated in our own
constitutional position as an eternal servant of Almighty. Meaning a kma-fla%yaaiga
renounced one with knowledge that everything in existence is Lords property.
We are here only to carry out His plans. This relieves one from Material
bondage.

Bhagawn Shankarchrya further clarifies our doubts in inavaa-Na YaT\kma

by saying: I am not the thought, Body-Mind-Intellect, ego or changes of body,
&anaMid`yaas, kmao-ind`yaas, nor pMcamahaBaUtas, or pMcavaayau saPtQaatu pu$Yaaqa- etc. But I am prmaa%maa the symbol of unknowable, formless, limitless, beyond space and time, the
eternal form of Knowledge and Bliss . Though this contention of
Shankaracharya that I am prmaa%maa is indigestible, the same is given here to
initiate and inquiry into the thought and that each begets the answer from His
beloved Guru.

5. raQaaraiNa : The Ideal lover (From Baagavatma\ )

By Shnt K. Nyak
God has blessed all women in this world with 7 great divine virtues:

kIit-: EaIvaa-k\ ca naarINaaM smaRitmao-Qaa QaRit: xamaa. Krishna has 64 or even unlimited super
excellent qualities. Beloved consort madna maaohna maaoihina : Rdhrni is the internal
potency dOvaI p`kRit of Krishna. She was bestowed with 33 Divine rgs to give
an example to the whole world of an ideal lover and ideal feminine nature.
Actually she is the reflection of the Lord only. Rdh - Krishna are like
Sunshine - Sun. Together only they can exist. Krishna was firmly in her heart.
Her qualities of exquisite beauty $pmaQaur, pleasantness icar , cleverness catur ,
dexterity dxa, shyness )Imana\, great love p`omamaQaur etc. complimented Krishna for
enjoying his youthful proclivities in her company.

SyaamasauMdr madnamaaohna

Krishna was very attractive. He mismerised everyone

in Vrindvan. His one glance would disarm all the young damsels of the whole
universe, what to talk about gopis of Vrindvan. Krishna's free behavior
appeared exactly like a young boy's attraction to a young girl. Sweet vibrations
of His flute vaoNaunaad fascinated all in Vrindvan - even cows, the deer, the birds,
the trees - everyone. Even calves were stunned and stopped sucking milk.
Their eyes seemed to embrace Krishna. The sound vibrations of flute melted
gopis' hearts, turned them impatient to meet Krishna. They forgot the societal
rules and restrictions on them, could no longer engage their mind in their
duties of household affairs.
Krishna's melodious flute notes captivated Rdhrni and her friends,
who inquired and went in search to Vrindvan. The first time she glanced
naMdkumaar, she felt divine happiness. Functions of her different limbs were
stunned. Lalit, her friend, whispered Krishna's name in her ear. She opened
her eyes wide. Cunningly, soon they started talking flirtatiously. Krishna
pretended to go fetch some flowers for them and took Rdhrni away alone
in forest!
The young gopis of Vrindvan were beautiful. They had heavenly
smiles, alluring garments, movements intended to give impetus to lusty
feelings. Most of them were married and Krishna's attractive features lured
them. They would sometimes press Krishna's hand on their laps; sometimes
keep his lotus feet on their breasts. After doing this they would talk with Him as
if they are angry! But Krishna's eyes were particularly flying over to attractive
14

Rdhrni like black bee Ba`mar flying to lotus flower. She had beautiful chakor
(bird)-like eyes, moon like face, golden body complexion. Her heart was full of
love for the Supreme Lover. Her beauty enhanced the beauty of the ornaments
she wore! She longed for Krishna, the Supreme Enjoyer of all pleasures. She
was prepared to give all for Krishna's satisfaction. He too enjoyed her
emotions: pride, fright, fatigue, frustration, jealousy, etc.
Krishna once said, When I like to enjoy the beauty of Rdhrni, I
make joking remarks at her which she listens with rapt attention. But by body
language, eyebrows and counter words she neglects Me. She becomes
beautiful, increases My pleasure one hundred times! In madness, Rdhrni
once churned water instead of curds. Krishna too matched playfully by
pretending to milk a bull!
Krishna is dancing with me alone. was the feeling of each gopis' heart
during rasa dance. Rdhrni felt every night's rasa as her first dance with
Krishna. She felt the entire night passing by like seconds! Body fragrance of
Krishna - a mix of camphor, lotus and sandalwood, increases her desire,
bewilders and she becomes a mad woman in ecstasy!
Krishna embraces Rdhrni in such expert manner, that it appears
like a dancing festival of peacocks. She gets intoxicated and feels like a female
elephant enthused by a male elephant. She is ever-youthful because she
satisfyes Krishna's every desire of love. Once at Yamun, when attacked by
strong Krishna for fun, she was disturbed, rejected Him, but within felt icar,
great satisfaction. She excelled by controlling Krishna with her selfless
spiritual love.
In a family, a grandchild sometimes gets more attention than one's own
child. Similarly Rdhrni's ability to control Krishna by love, Aa%masamap-Na, by
satisfying His every desire for love, put her ahead of 16,108 married wives;
though each one of them was attached to Krishna like iron to the magnet.
When Krishna permanently left for Mathur, forgetfully Rdhrni
sent a message to Krishna, that M Yashod is feeling separation from Him.
Each moment appeared like million years. She wept, confused, heard vaoNaunaad,
remembered their pastimes together, sang His prayers, felt Krishna's blissful
embrace in heart for ever.

4.
Why get involved in spirituality?
Scriptures help us understand our eternal identity as spiritual beings, as

I have no loans to pay. Am I free?

No. Our scriptures caution us and say that every person without
17

exception is born with three debts, namely from Lord, saints and ancestors

dova?Na ?iYa?Na ip~?Na.

God's debts: for giving us this rare human life- these can be repaid by
devotion, sacrifices, prayers etc. Ancient sages' debts: for giving us the
spiritual knowledge in scriptures - these can be repaid by studying and
distributing the Aa%ma&ana, the real knowledge to all. ip~?Na : the debts of our
ancestors - these can be repaid by producing worthy sausaMskRt children.
After repaying of all these debts one is supposed to leave behind his
worries of mind due to family, property and worldly relations and stay in holy
places and practice spirituality till the end.
7.

ASaaSvatma\, du:Kalayama\. Living by their teachings is only the way to everlasting
pleasure and peace of mind.

have declared for the benefit of mankind: Do not search in vain for happiness
outside. Happiness is within. God is within you. Meditate on the reality and be
happy for ever.
9.

How to build inner strength?

What cannot be cured has to be endured cheerfully. These hundred
inconveniences, annoyances, irritations will lead to inner strength and will
power can turn disadvantages into advantages.
Do not evade responsibilities. Cut down on external activities
consistent with your responsibilities. Yearn to spend more time on the inward
journey in life with prayer and meditation. This will give you the capacity to turn
out more work in less time.
18

How we can live carefree as kma-yaaoiga ?

Always do something positive. Do not plan too much. The planning is
already done by God. Time is life. Spend it most profitably. Overcome the
obstacles by faith in God and faith in yourself. Living must be purposeful, one
must have goals to reach, ideals to strive for. Good or bad, whatever happens
is by the will of God. It is the positive proof of His approval. So do not criticize.

What is Prnyma? Is there any easy way to do it?

Prna is the vital currents in the body. To restrain by breathing, Hamsa
Prnym is the easiest and effective. Every morning and evening, sit

Close your eyes. Calm your mind. Keep your back straight. Say to yourself, I
am going to enjoy watching my breath for next 10-15 minuets. Take deep
breaths naturally and rhythmically. Your upper chest should be bulging
over and lower abdomen should be contracted same time when you
inhale. Indirectly while 'inhale-exhale' make a light natural hum: Sah-Aham.
He is I or Ham-Sah or Aham-Sah. Hold your breath for as long as you can
and then exhale slowly. Natural Inhale -Hold - Exhale -Hold in each cycle

Hindu Sacraments

Samskras or sacraments are Vedic rituals and sacrifices done for

purity by Hindus to receive higher physical and spiritual benefits. Human body
is made fit to become a temple for the God to live in, the pure soul jaIvaa%maa and
Supersoul prmaa%maa.
Scriptures give fine details, of which 16 are main YaaoDSa saMskars and duty
bound, of which gaBaa-dana conception ceremony, jaatkma- Birth, ]pnayana
Upanayana or aopdoSa, ivavaah -marriage, An%yaoiYT - funeral are important.

gaBaa-dana : The procreation is enjoined on the Hindu to repay his triple

debt he carries at birth, to Devs, Rishis and his Ancestors. In gaBaa-dana, the would
be parents, offer prayers to God to help the bride conceive healthy and worthy
child. This conception ceremony is done a week after the ?tu period of the
woman.
jaatkma- : This ceremony is at birth. Before the umbilical cord of child is
severed, the father of child looks at the face of the new-born and at once
redeems his debt to his ancestors! Then he splashes in cold water, gives
charities and comes back. Soon the child is given to mother to suckle and kept
in her room. This help the child feel secure all her life. Father caresses child,
administer a drop of honey touched by his golden ring for maoQaa or intelligence,
and chants prescribed chants for longevity.
]pnayana : Upanayana- means taking the male child to Guru or Gyatri
Mantra. This thread ceremony is performed at age of 7 years or older.
Generally his father becomes Guru and mother Gyatri. He starts his journey
to spiritual life and parents provide him ideal life environment for study.
His Yajnopaveeta - 3 threads of maoKlaa, represent p`Nava !, maoQaa, EaWa :
God- Intelligence- Faith : Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesha, 3-Gunas, 3-debts, etc.
maoKlaa protects his purity and wards off evil. Deer-skin attached to it gives
spiritual, intellectual eminence. Palasa wood staff given makes him watchman
of Vedas, gives him long life, luster and holiness. Seeing sun, he prays for
virtues, vows for duty and discipline. He undertakes vows to please Gods,
serve elders and fellow men, engage in creative activities, etc. The boy
becomes 'twice born' iWja. His first duty as beginner in vaNaa-Eama Qama- is to learn
saMskRt language and understand meanings of Mantras and do vaodao@t ina%yakma-,
i~kala saMQyaavaMdna etc. his daily duties, as per scriptures.
20

laGau saMQyaavaMdna : Consists of (3) parts : Applying Gopichandan, Prayers

and Conclusion:
1) First : Aacamana sip warer and chant 24 names of Vishnu. Then gaaopIcaMdna
naamaQaarNa at 12 places, ca-SaMK -gada-pd\ma-naarayaNa maud`aQaarNa at 19-10-5-6-52
places. Then twice Aacamana. Then p`aNaayama or control breath and invoke Sun for
energy thrice.
2) saMklp vow to invoke Sandhy, then AGya-p`dana 3 times oblations to Sun
with water, YaDMganyaasa or salute Gyatri by body part activation exercise. God
Gyatri is then prayed, at least 10, 28 or 108 times : I meditate upon the
adorable radiance of the Divine Sun, the shining creator. Thou shall illuminate
all our faculties. Then saMQyaaMga tp-Nama\ or oblation to Gods and Veds.
3) gaayai~p`sqaapnama\, request gaayai~ saMQyaa saUya-naarayaNa (ivaYNau) deities to return
when reinvoked. Conclude laGau saMQyaavaMdna with Aacamana and prayers.

saMQyaavaMdna

is a well designed procedure to clean body and mind

impurities daily and atone for lapses in duties. It is interesting to note that on
the days of Mahbhrat war, all men performed saMQyaavaMdna at dawn before going
to war, and after sunset on returning! Neglecting scriptural guidance, is like
patient not following instructions of doctor. A caairs efforts will pay
dividends, like bumper harvest to farmer after toiling in rain, sun and cold.
Thoughtfully a laGau vaOYNava saMQyaavaMdna booklet is being developed by Shree Rm
Mandir Wadl, Mumbai for use of busy young generation.

ivavaah : paiNaga`hNa or marriage is a holy ceremony where the bride and

groom are treated as Laxmi and Mah-Vishnu. Girl is given away in duly
performed marriage, which brings girl's parents merit of 21 pious rebirths, for
helping predetermined God's plans.
We call it sometimes Astrologically calculated, Arranged or Love marriage!
The union of two souls or even two families, promote ga`hsqaaEama Qama- householder duty. By prescribed vedic mantras, the priest guides the couple for
lifelong prosperity, material and spiritual pleasures. ivavaah introduces couples
for vaNaa-Eama duties: good character, tolerance, self sacrifice and good attitudes
together.

9. Essence Of Git

gaItaopinaYad

]pinaYad = ]p + inaYza +Yad\ = Process of studying + with steadfastness +

attaining ultimate reality or Moksh.
Upanishads teach the principles of Par Vidy or Atma Vidy, the real
knowledge and the practical means of realization of God. They point out the
duties, obligations, dos and don'ts.
Rig Veda (21), Yajur Veda (109), Atherva Veda (50), Sma Veda
(1000) contain in all 1180 Upanishads, collectively called Vednta. Human eye
limitations are addressed by scientists with telescope and microscope.
Similarly sages experience divinity through the eye of knowledge gained by
following Dharma, the moral conduct and spiritual discipline. Upanishads are
whisperings of God to sages for uplift of mankind. Purnas(18) and
Upapurns (27) contain religious stories, can be called as Vedas of common
folks.
Upanishads form the foundation of our Santana Dharma or religion.
Religion means to know God, understand God and accept God as our real
father, as 'baIjap`d: ipta.' Religion should help mankind to live happily under one
Absolute God, you may call Him by any name : Lord Narasinha, Rma,
Krishna, etc.
Gitopanishad, is the essence of all Upanishads, comprises of 700
verses, divided in to 18 chapters or Yogs, beginning with Arjuna Vishda
Yoga. In the Git Lord Krishna dispels Arjuna's confusion and dilemma, by
explaining his moral duties, and highlighting Yogic and Vedntic philosophies
through examples.
The following 51 important verses, from God's own words: Git, you
