Go Green With Kids 3
The Green & Blue Group (G&BG) has successfully organized Go Green With Kids 3. This annual event has been held for three years consecutively. This year, we have Segambut Welfare Association and Sathya Sai Baba Bhajan Kepong Unit as co-organizers to make the event a success. Approximately 300 children have participated in the drawing and colouring contest with the theme Waste Separation and 50 parents attended Takakura Home composting workshop. Dr. Wong Ruen Yuan, the president of Green and Blue Group, addressed the importance of practicing waste separation among the urban residents as the amount of garbage generated in the city is much higher than in rural area. By separate the garbage accordingly, we can reduce the negative impact to the environment. GGWK3, a happening family day indeed! See you in 2012!

Waste separation can reduce environmental pollution and land, and to turning waste into treasure. Waste separation collection can reduce the waste volume and reduce the consumption of land resources. Besides, the mixture of food waste and recyclable items would damage the recycle value. So, lets practice the concept of 2R1S: Reuse, Reduce and Separate waste at home.

The baskets and compost were given away to the participants of the workshop, sponsored by Green and Blue Group.

Model of transportation of solid waste to landfill

Children and parents got to know where have the rubbish gone once they threw it. Rubbish travels from the urban area, passes through oil palm plantation, greens, padi f ield, mountains and arrive at the landfill. How much carbon emission, air pollution and water pollution have been produced? The kids would find out.
