DEVON HORN RIVER BRIDGE DESIGN
This project included conceptual design, navigable water permit applications, detailed design and construction inspection of four 2-lane access road bridges in Northern British Columbias Horn River Shale Gas Area. Focus has completed the initial access road layout survey and subsequent creek profile surveys for the bridge conceptual design.

NEXEN ACCESS ROAD DESIGN

Nexen retained Focus to undertake the design engineering of a 35 km section of spine access road, providing access to shale gas drill sites located in Northeast British Columbia. The design was challenging as it had to accommodate differing terrains; including permafrost and Muskeg. There were further constraints due to the stringent environmental regulations. The project was successfully completed on time and on budget.

SIERRA YOYO DESAN ROAD UPGRADE

Nexen Access Road Design

Focus was retained to ensure the 188 km industrial roadway met design criteria that included a minimum cross section width, a paved surface, capacity for heavy loads, and a defined design life for the road and structures. The route includes eight bridges which underwent load assessments and rehabilitation design for replacement or upgrading. Focus provided design documentation, mapping and base plan production via LIDAR remote sensing, bridge concept reporting, analysis of existing bridges with recommendations for rehabilitation or replacement, and environmental assessment and permitting.
