Due to its modular architecture and very efficient bandwidth utilization, WALKair inexpensively supports a diverse range of services. The WALKair systems highly scaleable base station and terminal stations deliver the services right to the customers premises. Furthermore, WALKair is easily upgradable, and thus always ready to meet the growing demand for broadband services and transmission capacities of up to 4 Mbit/s. Base station WALKairs base station communicates with the service nodes and supports the necessary standard interfaces to the terminal stations via the air interface. The base station consists of an outdoor antenna unit, an indoor. IFMUX and a scaleable number of basic units. Depending on the services to be provided, each base station can be configured for up to 16 basic units per sector and has an overall capacity of 32 Mbit/s per sector, where each cell can be divided into four, six, eight and twelve sectors, depending on bandwidth demand. Terminal station The terminal station is installed at the customers premises. It consists of an outdoor antenna unit and an indoor basic unit that provides transparent access to all services. Each terminal station can be configured for up to three different interfaces to provide services at scaleable bandwidths of between 64 kbit/s and 4 Mbit/s. WALKair also supports the simultaneous operation of mixed services. For example, one interface could be used to provide leased line services to a workstation, another to transport frame relay services to a router and a third to transport ISDN-PRA services to a PABX. No other system offers you as much flexibility as WALKair.
