INDUSTRIAL FINANCE CORPORATION OF INDIA[IFCI]

The Industrial Finance corporation of India was established in 1948 under the IFCI act,1948.The main objective of the corporation has been the provide medium and long-term credit to industrial concerns in India. The objective of the corporation as laid down in the preamble of the IFCI act, 1948, are.Making medium and longterm credits more readily available to industrial concerns in India, particularly in circumstances where normal banking accommodation is inappropriate or recourse to capital issue methods is impracticable. The financial assistance of the corporation is available to limited companies or co-operative societies registered in India and engaged or proposing to engage in y Manufacture,preservation or processing of goods y The mining industry y The shipping business y The hotel industry; and y The generation or distribution of electricity or and other from of power.

Initially the authorized capital of the corporation was Rs.10 crore which was divided in equities of Rs.5000 each. Later on the authorized capital was increased to Rs.20 crore. Since july 1,1993 this corporation has been converted into a company and it has been given the status of a limited company with the name Industrial Finance Corporation of India Ltd. IFCI has got its registration under Companies Act ,1956.Before July 1st,1993,general public was not permitted to hold shares of IFCI. Only Government of India ,RBI, Scheduled Banks ,Insurance Companies and Co-operative Societies were holding the shares of IFCI. The financial resources of IFCI consist of paid-up capital, reserves ,repayment of loans, market borrowings in the form of bonds/debentures ,loans from Government of India ,advances from the Industrial Development Bank of India and foreign currency loans.

Functions of IFCI The functions of IFCI can be broadly classified into: 1.FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 2.PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES.

FINACIAL ASSISTANCE:
The IFCI is authorized to render financial assistance in one or more of following forms: 1. Granting loans or advances to or subscribing to debentures of Industrial concerns repayable within 25 years .Also it can convert Part of such loans or a debenture into equity share capital at is option. 2. Under writing the issue of industrial securities i.e. shares, bonds, or debentures to be disposed off within 7 years. 3. Subscribing directly to the shares and debentures of public limited companies. 4. Guaranteeing of loans raised by industrial concerns from scheduled banks or state co-operative banks. 5. Guaranteeing of deferred payments for the purchase of capital goods from abroad or within India. 6. Acting as an agent of the central Government or the World Bank in respect of loans sanctioned to the industrial concerns.

Financial assistance is available from IFCI for the following purposes:

For the setting up of new industrial undertakings. For expansion or diversification of the existing concerns. For the modernization and renovation of the existing concerns. For meeting existing liabilities or working capital requirement of industrial concerns in exceptional cases.

IFCI provides financial assistance to eligible industrial concerns regardless of their size. However ,now-a-days, it entertains applications from those industrial concerns whose project cost is above Rs.2crores because up to project cost of Rs.2crores various state level institutions are expected to meet the financial requirements of viable concerns. While approving a loan application ,IFCI gives due consideration to the feasibility of the project, its importance to the nation, development of the backward areas, social and economic viability ,etc.

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES: The IFCI has been playing very important role as a financial institution in providing financial assistance to eligible industrial concerns . However ,no less important is its
promotional role whereby it has been creating industrial opportunities also. The corporation discovers the opportunities for promoting new enterprises. It helps in developing small and medium scale entrepreneurs by providing them guidance though its specialized agencies in identification of projects, preparing project profiles ,implementation of the projects.Etc. It acts an instrument of acceleration the industrial growth and reducing regional industrial and income disparities.

Realize the organizational environment is essential because organizational efficiency is largely determined by how well it is able to access and administrate its environment .Especially trainings will good experience for all.

Even this recession also the companies which are there in our India can survive. Especially the infrastructure companies are doing well. I planned to do my training in a company which is producing essential products for manufacturing two wheeler and four wheelers.

I did my Institutional training in THAI SUMMIT NEEL AUTO Private Limited, Hosur . During the training period information has been collected about the organizational atmosphere, in reality also information regarding the aspects of administration tasks. In this report the information listed regarding the institutional training linking the practical with the theories. It will help as a pre-practical during the period of my job.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

THE INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING IS UNDERTAKEN TO GET A FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE COMPANY PRACTICALLY WHAT IS REALLY EXIST IN THE ORGANIZATION.

INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE IN FILLING THE GAP BETWEEN THE THEORITICAL KNOWLEDGE OF OUR STUDIES TO THAT OF THE REAL SITUATION IN ANY INDUSTRY.

Thai Summit Neel Auto Pvt .Ltd. (TSN) is a joint venture company between JBM Group of India and Thai Summit Group of Thailand with 50-50 equity partnership. Having started its operations in April 2005, the company has latest and ultra-modern facilities in its various plants situated at Gurgaon,Hosur,Pune and Pantnagar. The facilities include Pressing,welding,pipe Bending , Painting,Special Purpose Machines(SPMs) and Powder coating machines.

Almost all major two-wheeler manufacturers (motorcycle and scooters) in India are this companys esteemed and delighted customers.

A vast range of products of this venture include parts of the two-wheeler such as Fuel tanks ,assemblies ,guards ,tubular frames and complete mufflers.

Our Thailand based JV partner, Thai Summit Group is a 30 years old group with Over 30 plants dealing with the manufacturing of automotive and agricultural machine Parts. In India, TSN is poised to become No.1 in part supplier of components for two wheeler manufacturer across India.
