Writing a 20 minutes essay

27th Sep, 2011 Notes: Today in class we write a 20 minutes essay about the difference between a flag and a map. Homework: Begin detailed research in the geography, climate and natural wild life of your home country. Tonight, you are to go to two sources: 1) Wikipedia 2) The tourism site for your country, bookmark both sites. Start making a list of FACT in three area: Geography, climate, wild life in your JP. Be ready to discuss the accuracy , from your perspective, of the FACT you found. During the class we wrote about the difference between a flag and a map. _My country: Vietnam

+ Geography: Vietnam is located on the Indochina Peninsula, the South East Asia. Vietnam has land borders with China, Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam is composed of three regions with the northern highlands and the Red River delta, central part of coastal lowlands, the highlands in the Truong Son range, and southern Mekong Delta Vietnam is an Asia country.

_ Climate: The South side of Vietnam has two seasons: rainy and dry. Monsoon in the north with four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter

29th Sep, 2011 Notes: Tonight, you are to write a 20 minutes essay answering a question: what are the most important things to know in terms of structure when writing an essay? You are to write this on your laptop (JP) after todays note. In a quiet place, give yourself exactly 20 minutes from start to finish with no breaks, no edits, no rewrites, just as if you were writing it by hand in class. Homework: WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW IN TERMS OF STRUCTURE WHEN WRITING AN ESSAY? Everything has each own structure. If you know the structure of it, it will be easier for you to do. So does an essay. When you start to write an essay, definitely you have to write a introduction first. So what will you write in an introduction? You will introduce what is the main point in an essay you are about to write. It cant be a sentence. It has to be 2 sentences or more than that. Second, there are bodies. How many paragraphs are depended on the essay. If its a long essay, there will be more than 3 paragraphs. But if it wont, you just need to write about 2,3 paragraphs. And in the bodies, you will write more details, informations of the topic you are writing. The last paragraph is the conclusion. You will summary all you have written above in conclusion. It also include your opinion, your idea or what you think about the topic. And you do have to say the main point of the topic again.

30th Sep, 2011 Notes: Today, the teacher will call our names to read the essay we wrote yesterday and mark them. Homework: 1) Review all your notes on the structure of an essay. 2) Make sure your JP homework for wed and for Thursday have 3 fact lists (Geography, Climate, Wild life) remember that the assignment was not to Copy (download) Wikipedia or tourism site information, but to use those sites, and others, to make your own lists in your JP! 3) Submit week 2 JP to me PDF with section number & letter between 5pm Friday & 5pm Sunday
