Tuesday ........................................................................ 6pm SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME ORDINARY FORM SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY EXTRAORDINARY FORM ear brothers and sisters, the glory of the Lord has shown upon us, and shall ever be manifest among us, until the day of his return. Through the rhythms of times and seasons let us celebrate the mysteries of salvation. Let us recall the year's culmination, the Easter Triduum of the Lord: His last supper, His crucifixion, His burial, and His rising celebrated between the evening of the Fifth of April and the evening of the Eighth of April. Each Easter - as on each Sunday - the Holy Church makes present the great and saving deed by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death. From Easter are reckoned all the days we keep holy. Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, will occur on Wednesday, February 22. The Ascension of the Lord will be commemorated on Thursday, May 17. Pentecost, the joyful conclusion of the season of Easter, will be celebrated on Sunday, May 27. Likewise the pilgrim Church proclaims the Passover of Christ in the feasts of the holy Mother of God, in the feasts of the Apostles and Saints, and in the commemoration of the faithful departed. To Jesus Christ, who was, who is, and who is to come, Lord of time and history, be endless praise, forever and ever. Amen. D Sai nt Stephen of Hungary www.SaintStephenChurch.us

THE HI GHEST FORM OF CHRI STI AN PRAYER I S THE MASS. Having a Mass offered for loved ones, living or deceased, or for a special intention can be done by filling out a white Mass Intention envelope, which can be found in the main vestibule of the Church, and dropping it in the collection basket. The requested donation is $10 per Mass. We cannot promise a specific date will be available, so booking a few weeks, or even months, ahead of time is a good idea. EPISTLE Romans 12: 6-16 rethren: Having different gifts, according to the grace that is given us: either prophecy, to be used according to the rule of faith; or ministry, in ministering; or he that teacheth, in doctrine; he that exhorteth, in exhorting; he that giveth, with simplicity; he that ruleth, with carefulness; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. Hating that which is evil, cleaving to that which is good: loving one another with the charity of brotherhood: with honor preventing one another: in carefulness not slothful; in spirit fervent: serving the Lord: rejoicing in hope: patient in tribulation: instant in prayer: communicating to the necessities of the Saints: pursuing hospitality. GOSPEL John 2: 1-11 t that time there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee: and the Mother of Jesus was there. And Jesus also was invited, and His disciples, to the marriage. And the wine failing, the Mother of Jesus saith to Him: They have no wine. And Jesus saith to her: Woman, what is that to Me and to thee? My hour is not yet come. His Mother saith to the waiters: Whatsoever He shall say to you, do ye. Now there were set there six water-pots of stone, according to the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three measures apiece. Jesus saith to them: Fill the water-pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And Jesus said to them: Draw out now, and carry to the chief steward of the feast. And they carried it. And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters knew who had drawn the water: the chief steward calleth the bridegroom, and saith to him: Every man at first setteth forth good wine: and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee; and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him. OFFERTORY Psalm 65: 1, 2, 16 hout with joy to God, all the earth: sing ye a psalm to His Name: come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will tell you what great things the Lord hath done for my soul, alleluia.
SECRET allow, O Lord, these our oblations: and cleanse us from the stains of our sins. Through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
PREFACE Preface of the Most Holy Trinity t is truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto Thee, O holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God; Who, together with Thine only- begotten Son, and the Holy Ghost, art one God, one Lord: not in the oneness of a single Person, but in the Trinity of one substance. For what we believe by Thy revelation of Thy glory, the same do we believe of Thy Son, the same of the Holy Ghost, without difference or separation. So that in confessing the true and everlasting Godhead, distinction in persons, unity in essence, and equality in majesty may be adored. Which the Angels and Archangels, the Cherubim also and Seraphim do praise: who cease not daily to cry out, with one voice saying:
COMMUNION John 2: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 he Lord saith: Fill the water-pots with water, and carry to the chief steward. When the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, he saith to the bridegroom: Thou hast kept the good wine until now. This first miracle did Jesus in the presence of His disciples.
POST COMMUNION ay the working of Thy power, we beseech Thee, O Lord, be increased in us: that quickened by the divine Sacraments, we may be prepared by Thy grace to obtain that which they promise. L O B T A S H I T M Sai nt Stephen of Hungary ststephenofhun@aol.com Eli understood that the Lord was calling Samuel. So he said to Samuel, Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply, Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the Lord came and revealed his presence, calling out as before, Samuel, Samuel! Samuel answered, Speak, for your servant is listening. I Samuel, c. III MASS INTENTI ON GUI DELI NES n recent months, there have been some questions raised in regards to the offering of Mass intentions. Canon law states: In accordance with the approved custom of the Church, any priest may accept an offering to apply the Mass for a specific intention. (Canon law 945) The faithful who make an offering so that Mass can be celebrated for their intention, contribute to the good of the Church, and by that offering they share in the Church's concern for the support of its ministers and its activities. (Canon law 946) Separate Masses must be applied for the intentions of those for whom an individual offering, even if small, has been made and accepted (Canon law 948). Accordingly, we can only accept one intention per Mass offering. Note that it is also quite possible for a priest to say Mass for the intention for which a stipend has been given, and simultaneously for other intentions as well. He may, for example, celebrate a regularly scheduled parish Mass for which some parishioner has provided an intention (and a stipend), but at the same time he may perhaps have in mind the intention of his elderly mother. In fact, he may have as many intentions as he likes while offering a Mass, so long as he has accepted a stipend for no more than one of them. While on the surface this may seem illogical, keep in mind that the spiritual value of a single Mass is infinite. The intention for which a stipend was offered is not somehow getting short-shrift if the celebrant offers that same Mass for other intentions as well! The Mass stipend is regulated by Canon law 952. The stipend suggested in the Diocese of Allentown is currently $10.00 per Mass. While we have in the past accepted Masses farther out than one year, we will now abide by Canon law 953 "No one may accept more offerings for Masses to be celebrated by himself than he can discharge within a year". This means that no Mass will be scheduled farther out than one year. To that end, let me announce this policy: Particular Mass intentions for a specific date (e.g. May 16 or the First Saturday in June or "My Son's Birthday," etc.) MUST be requested before February 1, 2012 in order to be reserved for the calendar year 2012. Whether offered/celebrated according to the Extraordinary or Ordinary form, the objective Fruits of the Mass are the same. One may request one form over another and I will try to honor those requests as much as possible. MARCH FOR LI FE 2012 The 39 th annual March for Life will be in Washington, DC on Monday, January 23 rd . On the morning of, a mass will be offered in the Extraordinary Form at 6:30am here at Saint Stephens. After which a bus will depart promptly for our nations capital. Those interested in making the journey with us are asked to reserve a seat on the bus by contacting Mary Vigilante: 845.893.7215.
