Summary
Here's how to install the SAP MMC on a work station, so that you can conveniently connect to multiple SAP environments. This is handy for both SAP NetWeaver specialists, as well as system administrators who are not SAP NetWeaver specialists but need to be able to restart multiple systems (e.g., to apply security patches). The Goal
Here's a little trick to make the life of an SAP NetWeaver administrator easier. By installing the SAP MMC on your local workstation, you can now perform all your SAP MMC functions (start/stop systems or process, dump threads, view developer traces).
You will need administrator privileges on the various systems (something you will have anyway), but this way you wont have to logon to each environment or share an account with other administrator (security auditors like that). As a bonus, from this one screen you can now see at a glance if all systems are up. I installed the SAP MMC that came NetWeaver 04. Another bonus of using my local version is that I dont have to enter a password to stop a system, as I do if I use the SAP MMC installed on a NetWeaver 04s system itself
2. Register sapmmc.dll by rebooting your machine, or (quicker) double-click it and launch it with <C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe> [the path to your system32 directory may be slightly different] 3. Run "sapstartsrv.exe -t", and confirm the pop-up to "Register COM Typelibrary only":
4. Run "MMC" add the SAP snap-in (the sapmmc.dll you installed above): Under the "File" menu, select "Add/Remove Snap-in" Then click the "Add button Add "SAP Systems Manager" from list of available snap-ins.
5. "Save As" a local file, e.g., "SAPMMC.msc" 6. Add your systems by right-clicking on SAP systems and selecting properties. Under the "Fixed" tab (if you don't see the desired SID in the dropdown, just type it in). This is the tedious part
