Teaching in Tough Times

We are incredibly blessed at First Baptist Church Naples to host some of the most effective communicators in America. We trust that regardless of the subject or the person that we will Proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we present every man complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28). We welcome Chip Ingram as our guest preacher this weekend. He is one of the most winsome and effective Bible teachers in America, the former president of Walk Through the Bible, and a pastor of many years. His compelling and practical speaking impacts millions over radio and online. He will share how each of us can discover Gods genius plan for people. We will also hear Brigitte Gabriel on Sunday evening, as part of our special Seasonal Speaker Series, as she speaks from personal experience concerning radical Islam. The recent attempt by a would-be Jihadist in Washington D.C. to detonate an attack as a suicide bomber should remind us of our conflict with radicals who would destroy us and our freedom. There was little mention in the news reports that this terrorist was motivated by radical Islamic belief. Of course, there are moderate Muslims who have become Americanized and enjoy the freedom of our society and do not want to rock the boat. However, radical Muslims adhere to the words of The Islamic Response to the Governments Nine Accusations, written by five detainees at Guantanamo Bay prison camp, including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed: We are terrorists to the bone. So, many thanks to God. Therefore, killing you and fighting you and terrorizing you, responding back to your attacks, are all considered to be great legitimate duty in our religion. These actions are our offerings to God. Jihad, by Mohammeds command, is found in the Quran in Surah 9:5: Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem. That does not sound like a religion of peace, though there are peaceful verses in their scriptures. As I have been speaking about the end times, remember that there are 1,239 prophecies in the Old Testament, and 578 prophecies in the New Testament. Because there are 31,124 verses in the Bible, those 8,352 verses are about 27% of the total. Over one-fourth of the Bible has a prophetic element. God predicted that the end times would be perilous times. We must love and share Christ with those who are brutal, haters of good holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power (2 Timothy 3:1, 3, 5). May we be informed as well as inspired and endure hardship, doing the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4:5).

There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00 service. Come and meet Pastor Wicker.

ACT! for America

Brigitte Gabriel
Why we must defeat radical Islam and how we can do it!
We, as infidels in the eyes of our enemy, need to understand the danger we face: A totalitarian ideology - whether its origin is mainstream or marginal - threatens to enslave, dominate, and murder us in order to realize its vision for global conquest. --Brigitte Gabriel

Brigitte will present the latest threats radical Islam poses to our safety and security.
Brigitte Gabriel was born in the Marjayoun District in Lebanon to a Christian family. Gabriel remembers that during the Lebanese Civil War, militants launched an assault on a Lebanese military base near her familys house and bombed her home. Consequently she and her parents were forced to live in an 8x10 bomb shelter underground for seven years with only a small kerosene heater, no sanitary systems, no electricity or running water, and little food. To get water, she had to crawl in a ditch alongside a road to a spring in order to evade Muslim snipers. Gabriel comments that anyone who voices an opinion contrary to politically correct thinking is immediately tagged a racist or bigot and that this has resulted in a social paranoia which discourages free thought and expression. Morever, she states that societies and cultures must be held accountable for their actions and that by not judging others...we have helped created the monsters we are dealing with today.

Awestruck Ministries In the Missions Kiosk This Weekend

Another remarkable year has passed for Awestruck Ministries and we can not help but be encouraged by the events that transpired in Baja, California in 2011! Several trips took place and we successfully partnered with two distinct programs: CABO ENGLISH CHURCH which ministers to two of the poorest communities in Baja California Sur, and CRUSHED GRAPES MINISTRIES which is reaching people of the mountains of Baja, California Norte/Sur. Crushed Grapes is a home-grown ministry and an outgrowth of some of Awestrucks earliest work in the peninsula. They have truly captured our vision of Mexicans reaching Mexicans with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Continued financial support of AWESTRUCK MINISTRIES is needed to fund men and women who live in Mexico to minister each and every week of the year by providing biblical literature, films, transportation, meals for impoverished children, and much more. Your prayer support fuels the called-out ones spiritually and emotionally giving disciple makers insight and Spirit-Filled abilities to excel in Gods work. In 2012, we will be focused on enhancing the quality and variety of our outreach possibilities. We will continue to partner with and empower locals with the tools they need to negotiate Christian living and disciple making. Please see us in the Missions Kiosk this weekend with questions, to join our prayer team, or to contribute financially to Gods work among the Mexicans of Baja, California.
