The department of Electronics and Computer Engineering is a pioneer in the domain of research and development.

Electronics and Computers have touched the lives of almost all of us and hence are one of the fastest expanding disciples today. Considering the diversity and wide range of the fields pursued here, we bring our paper presentation competition- IDEAZ under four titles. The event gives a bright and fair chance to all the budding scientists and innovative minds to prove their mettle and win exciting prizes too. This year research papers are invited for the following: IDEAZ EC 1. Quantum electronic devices and systems 2. Modern transistor technology (FINFET, NOMFET, Graphene Transistor) 3. Fuzzy logic and mechatronics 4. Biomedical applications in electronics 5. Image Processing Applications (EVRS, Text and Face Recognition, etc.) 6. Modern display technologies (e-paper, quantum dots, etc.) 7. Power optimization in smart grids 8. Spintronics devices and applications 9. Any new and innovative electronic device/product to serve humanity and society IDEAZ COMMUNICATION 1. Next Generation Mobile, Broadband and Broadcast Satellite Systems 2. Satellite-based Disaster Recovery/earthquake Surveillance 3. Optical communications and devices 4. vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-roadside communications a. intra-vehicle communications b. vehicle-to-Internet communications 5. Intrusion Detection and Response in Wireless Networks 6. Cognitive Radio for emergency and public safety applications/wireless medical networks 7. Cross-layer Design and Optimization in Wireless Networks 8. Advanced identification techniques (Biometrics, RFID, etc.) 9. Smart Grid Networking IDEAZ COMPUTER SCIENCE

1. Security a. Information &Cyber Security b. Applied Cryptography & Cryptoanalysis 2. Distributed Algorithms 3. Data Mining & Stream Mining 4. Computational Biomechanics 5. Machine learning 6. Multimedia Databases 7. Information Retrieval

General Rules 1 Any undergraduate or masters student of any discipline is eligible to participate in this event. However PhD students and research scholars are not allowed to present their papers 2 Each team may have a maximum of three members. 3 No team is allowed to send more than one entry for the same departmental cell, but you are free to send multiple entries provided your papers are related to different cells. 4 Each category will have three prizes and participation certificates for all the participants.

5 This event will be conducted in two stages and its detailed procedures have been clarified below.

STAGE-I: Abstract Submissions

1) Participants are needed to send in the abstract of the original/review work including the references, the idea proposed with figures (if needed) to cogni.ece2012@gmail.com. 2) Abstract should not exceed 500 words and the covering page of the abstract must have Name(s), Institution of study, Email address(s), contact number(s), Name of the cell you wish to present the paper in, & Topic of paper presentation.

3) Your email should have the category name as your subject and your file name should have the title of the concerned paper.

For Example, A paper on simulation of a Hydrocracker unit in a refinery unit should have its mail subject as Modeling, Simulation, Design and Process Control and its title as Simulation of Hydrocracker unit. 4) Selection to the next round for final presentations will be based on the abstract submitted. 5) Deadline for Abstract Submissions is 15TH February 2012. 6) The result for the first round will be put up on the website till 17 February 2012 and will also be mailed to you. 7) For any particular queries regarding paper presentations, please contact the event coordinators (contacts have been mentioned below).

STAGE-II: Full Paper Submissions

The second round will be conducted at IIT Roorkee during COGNIZANCE 2012 (23-25 March). 1) Participants should submit their full paper in .doc and .pdf format. You need to bring three hardcopies of your complete paper (i.e. printed report) & two passport size photographs of each participant along with all the necessary details attached. 2) Formatting rules should be strictly followed. A font type of Bookman Old Style with a font size of 12 should be kept. 3) Participants should ensure that their papers include all relevant figures, tables and bibliography. 4) Submissions, in any case, should not exceed 12 pages in length, double-columned.
