Win XP Setup Not Detecting Your Hard Disk Drive
Most oI the latest hard disk drives (sata) are not recognized by Windows XP during installation. The problem
is that Windows XP does not support the latest SATA-AHCI or SATA-RAID hardware. The solution Ior this
problem is to integrate sata drivers in Windows XP setup so that the hard disk is recognized by Windows XP
setup during installation. That is what called Slipstreaming. The method oI integrating installation Iiles in
Windows XP setup.
Slipstreaming SATA Drivers Using Nlite
II you don`t have Floppy Disk Drive specially on your notebook/laptop and your Windows XP setup is not

detecting hard disk drives. You can still install Win Xp but you need to read the 'Slipstreaming SATA driver
into WinXp boot cd using nLite so that your hard disk is recognized by the windows xp setup
Requirements
nLite(download here), this will be used Ior slipstreaming(integrate) SATA drivers into WinXp setup. 1.
Extracted SATA drivers(iI you are using Intel chipset Intel 82801GR/GH, 631xESB/632xESB,
82801GHM, ICH8R/ICH9R, 82801HEM SATA RAID Controller, get the drivers Irom your
manuIacturer website or let me know your system model no)

Step By Step Guide
Copy the contents oI your Windows XP CD to a new Iolder and name it 'WinXp.

Download the intel SATA drivers.The correct Iile name is something like 'Floppy ConIiguration
Utility.

II you have downloaded already extracted drivers than skip to Step 10.

Extract the downloaded SATA driver Iile. You will get green icon 'I6Ilpy32. 4.

Extract the green Iile 'I6Ilpy32 again and you will get this time a Iile with .IMA extension.

Now you need to browse the Iolder 'I6Ilpy32 using WinImage (download here) and select the .IMA
extension Iile.

You will see all the SATA driver Iiles. Extract them to any Iolder(I name it 'SATA driver on my
desktop) by selecting all oI the Iiles and choose 'Extract.

II you open up the 'SATA driver Iolder it will look like this.

Next again and you will come to 'Presets. Ignore this by choosing 'Next again.

In 'Task Selection, choose 'Drivers and 'Bootable ISO by high-lighting them. 13.

Select 'Insert-~Single driver.

Browse to the SATA driver Iolder(the one you extracted using WinImage) and select either one oI the
.INF Iile, I choose 'iaahci.inI.

A screen like below will pop-up, make sure it`s 'Textmode driver and select all oI them by holding
CTRLA key and choose 'OK.

Choose 'Next and you will be prompted.

Finally, you can create your project as ISO image or burn it directly to CD-R under 'Mode. I choose
'Direct Burn. You can put anything Ior 'Label but not too long. Choose 'Burn and you will be
prompted again.

Choose 'Yes to burn it to CD-R. Wait Ior it to Iinish and choose 'Next 21.

Choose 'Finish to exit nLite.

Now boot your computer using the cd you just burned using nLite. 23.

and I need to install Windows XP ProIessional. Can you advise / direct me to which driver(s) to
slipstream. Based on what was installed Ior the Vista (OS), my presumption is that it should be an
AHCI driver (but it may be rather that a RAID driver would do the job quite nicely I don`t know the
diIIerence between the tow).

Hi, a really helpIul solution to part oI my problem.
I have been trying to install XP on an Advent Modena M200 laptop (purchased Irom PC World with
Win 7 installed) . . I was able to Iind the SATA drivers Irom the Intel website . and the graphics
and wiIi drivers . and successIully installed Win XP.
However, I have been unable to Iind an audio driver. The original audio driver was listed as 'IDT High
DeIinition Audio Codec. I have Iound three diIerent sources but none are compatible . The IDT
website say they provide customised drivers Ior each Brand/manuIacurer which are copyrighted and
not available Ior download. The PC World, 'TechGuys site, has nothing listed Ior this product . . I
know this is a long shot, but I wondered iI you, or any other contributors, might be able to suggest a
solution ?

all you people are retarded. all you need to do with your laptops is switch the SATA mode Irom AHCI
to IDE in bios. judging by the questions you wouldn`t be able to install an OS iI your liIe depended on it
leave alone integrating drivers into anything. just do yourselI a Iavour and give your laptop to a random
homeless person they`ll have more idea what to do with it.

I have a Lenovo laptop X60 series model 1706-w6y.
I tried the Win XP Iloppy approach with the matrix Iiles supplied by Lenovo, but it just wouldn`t work
(probably couldn`t determine the right Iile to select).
For the liIe oI me, I can`t seem to pin down the correct sata chipset Ior this computer on Lenovo`s site.
I`ve been scouring the internet with no luck.
My Win7 upgrade disk has no problem installing except that it wants the XP OS wich WON`T install.
Ubuntu oI course doesn`t care. It just works. Thanks Ior nothing MicrosoIt!

Ior some reason.
Win7 upgrade will load, Ubuntu will load, but Win XP OEM.HECK NO!
