1 March 2012 / Thursday 4 Tekun / 10.45 11.45 Quadratic Expressions and Equations Quadratic Expressions Understand the concept of quadratic expressions At the end of the lesson, students should be able to i) Identify unknown, term, coefficient and quadratic expression ii) Form quadratic expressions by multiplying any two linear expressions Identify, form Confident , Dare to Try A4 paper, worksheets 1. Induction Set (5 minutes ) - Students were given 3 questions to form quadratic expressions. - 3 students were choosen randomly to write their answer at the front. 2. Developmental Lesson ( 35 minutes ) - Teacher explain about the todays lesson. - Students were asked to use their prior knowledge to identify unknown, term, coefficient in an expression -Techer explain and discuss with students. -Teacher proceed to form quadratic expressions. Questions that were given during the induction set were discussed by teacher. - Teacher give the students a few more examples to be disscussed. 3. Activity Set ( 15 minutes ) - Students were given a worksheet and asked to answer 8 questions together with their partners. - Students were called randomly to write their answers at the front. Teacher checked the answer and disscuss with students. 4. Closure (5 minutes ) - Students were given a few more exercises as homework and had to pass up tomorrow morning before the assembly begins.

5 March 2012 / Monday Quadratic Expressions and Equations Quadratic Expressions Factorise quadratic expressions At the end of the lesson, students should be able to i) Factorise quadratic expressions of the form ax2 + bx + c, b=0 or c=0 ii) Factorise quadratic expressions of the form px2- q, p and q are perfect squares Factorise Confident , Dare to Try Worksheets, chalk 1. Induction Set (2 minutes ) - 3 students were choosen randomly to state the number of perfect square 2. Developmental Lesson ( 20 minutes ) - Teacher explain about the todays subtopic. - Students were asked to use their prior knowledge about HCF to factorise the qquadratic expressions. -Techer explain and discuss with students. - Teacher give the students a few examples to be discussed together with the students. 3. Activity Set ( 10 minutes ) - Students were given a worksheet and asked to answer 4 questions together with their partners. - Students were called randomly to write their answers at the front. Teacher checked the answer and disscuss with students. 4. Closure (3 minutes ) - Students were given a few more exercises as homework and had to pass up tomorrow morning before the assembly begins.
