Installation and operating instructions for The Waterboy Reefmaster Series of Marine Reverse Osmosis Units.

Basic Reverse Osmosis Principles: Reverse osmosis is a method of purifying water by forcing it under pressure past a semi permeable membrane thus reversing its natural osmotic pressure. The membrane is designed to only let molecules of pure water pass through (H20) but larger molecules with specific chemistry are rejected to waste e.g. nitrates and phosphates. These pass over the membrane and not through it and are sent via a waste outlet to drain. Through years of experience in the marine trade, as well as a family tradition in water purification we have developed our range of reverse osmosis machines. We have thought about you, the environment and your machine every step of the way. For these reasons and the reasons below, we assure you, no other brand produces the quality of water The Waterboy Reefmaster range does whilst reducing waste water as well as protecting the heart of the unit.the filmtec membrane. Absolute 10 , 5 or 1 micron premium pre-filter to trap sediments, dissolved particles etc. Silver sintered carbon block to remove chlorine, chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals as well as inhibit bacterial growth which could move into the membrane chamber and destroy the membrane. The worlds best membrane (filmtec by Dow) is always present in our units Check valve on the R.O. production outlet to prevent air or water back feeding into the membrane and damaging it. 300gpd waste water flow restrictor, factory pre-set to reduce waste water flow as well as increasing membrane back pressure thus improving production quality. On selected models the units have a waste water membrane flush kit assembled on the flow restrictor to enable one to easily flush the membrane chamber thus increasing membrane lifespan and ensuring constant production quality.

 On selected models the units have a resin chamber that polishes the R.O.water ensuring that the t.d.s reading (total dissolved solids readings) are kept where we like them..0 J On selected models we have our new innovation, in conjunction with Tunze and there incredible high quality calcium carbonate we have developed a unit that buffers the r.o./di water thus stabilizing and neutralizing the ph whilst adding approximately 11ppm of calcium into the r.o.water. T.D.S meters are available optional as hand held units or inline T.D.S meters that can be installed onto the r.o.machine (selected models have these installed on request) Please read the following instructions carefully before installing your unit. the main unit comes fully assembled however the membrane element will need to be removed from its packaging and installed, the mains plumbing connection will need to be done and the inlet, outlet, and waste pipes will need to be connected. The installation pack will include 5 items. These are, 1) 6 meters if 6mm / tubing 2) 1 x pre-filter housing spanner 3) 1 x roll of thread tape (PTFE tape) 4) 1 x brass adaptor and ball valve 5) 1 x 50gpd filmtec membrane element (most important piece of your unit) The following paragraph applies to the items found on the bottom left hand side of the diagram found on the diagram page that are surrounded by a rectangular dotted line. Please note that your unit requires a minimum operating pressure of 2.5 bars and a maximum pressure of 5 bars to operate. The ideal running pressure is 4 bars. If your pressure is below 2.5 bars, a 24v Waterboy booster pump will need to be purchased and installed. If your pressure is above 5 bars a Waterboy pressure reducing valve will need to be purchased and installed. Should you wish to automate the unit to top up automatically, an electric 12volt Waterboy solenoid valve and float kit will need to be purchased and installed. It is recommended that you use a sharp blade to cut the tubing and always cut it straight. If you would like to connect a pipe to a quick release john quest fitting.simply force it into the fitting as far as it can go in and it will seal itself. To remove the pipe from the fitting, remove the small plastic cir-clip, push in the spring load circle around the pipe close to the fitting and pull the pipe in the opposite direction. If you would like to connect the pipe to a jaco nut type fitting.simply remove the nut, slide the tubing through the hole in the nut, push it into the fitting and fasten the nut. To remove, simply undo the nut.

1) remove the ball valve and adaptor from installation pack, add thread tape to the adaptor and ball valve and install behind a garden tap (recommended method), Or connect it inline or T it off from a pipe line and place a brass plug on the end. 2) Connect a piece of tubing from the ball valve to the inlet elbow, found facing downward on the left hand side of the unit. (the sediment filter housing) 3) On the right hand side of the unit on the second pre-filter chamber (the carbon chamber) there is a quick release elbow with a pipe that connects to the quick release elbow found on the membrane housing cap. Remove the pipe at the membrane housing cap by using the method explained earlier. 4) Turn the water on and let the water run out the small pipe you just disconnected for 2 minutes (you are now flushing the carbon fines and stopping them from being forced into and damaging the membrane). After 2 minutes turn the water off but do not reconnect the pipe yet. 5) Unscrew the membrane housing cap, make sure the o-ring remains seated on the housing and insert the filmtec membrane found in the installation pack (ensure the little nipple with the 2 black o-rings goes in first into the chamber as shown in the diagram) then screw closed the cap tightly and connect the pipe back into the fitting and insert the cir-clip back into position. 6) Connect a piece of tubing to the r.o. production outlet and another to the waste water flow restrictor outlet. (if you have a model that has the resin chamber, the r.o. production pipe is already connected to the resin chamber) 7) If your unit has a resin chamber above the membrane, disconnect the pipe from the r.o.production outlet on the membrane housing from the resin chamber inlet housing and switch on the water letting both the waste water and the disconnected r.o.water production pipe run to drain for 2 hours. If you have no resin chamber, simply let the r.o. production pipe and the waste water pipe run to drain for 2 hours on initial start up. 8) After 2 hours connect the r.o.water production pipe to the resin chamber (ensuring all cir-clips are in place and all nuts are tight) and connect a piece of tubing to the outlet of the resin chamber found on the right hand side of the resin chamber (this pipe will be your Pure water delivery pipe) 9) Should you have the model that has the Tunze calcium carbonate chamber above the resin.simply connect your r.o. delivery pipe to the outlet of the Tunze calcium carbonate chamber.

Maintenance: 1) if you have the model with the waste water membrane flush valve, open the flush valve once a week while water is on, for 3 minutes then close it and continue to produce water. 2) Replace the pre-filters every 6 months with genuine The Waterboy cartridges (Absolute sediment and silver sintered carbon filter) 3) On selected models replace the resin every 6 months with genuine The Waterboy Maxi DI Resin. 4) Replace the membrane every 2 to 3 years.
