SCHMEARTON TECHNOLOGIES: OPERATIONS AND DECISION MAKING The decisions that I have made as the Chief Operating Officer today, I feel are of the up most significance for the company. I have listed them in order of importance. The first item on

my agenda is to interview prospective candidates for the Master Toothbrush Technician position so that we can effectively become more efficient at producing the travel toothbrush and be more profitable in doing so. The second item on my agenda is getting our product, the travel toothbrush shipped to the customers. The third item on my agenda is finishing the monthly report. Meeting deadlines are important for the companys functioning ability, like the president of the companys investor meetings, addressing the items I was unable to accomplish, explaining what I would do to achieve those goals and discuss the implications of todays decisions.

SCHMEARTON TECHNOLOGIES: OPERATIONS AND DECISION MAKING Items to Accomplish Today and the Rationale for these Decisions

Interview Prospective Candidates The first item I chose to do is interview the prospective candidates for the production line position. I chose this item because overall production has been down. The cost of production is up. I feel if the potential candidate is hired, then the cost of production will go down and overall production will increase. This is a positive decision because the company will become more profitable.

Get Delivery Shipped I have chosen to get the delivery shipped to the customer as the second order of business on my agenda. I have this second in order of importance because it is critical to get our product out to our customers in a timely fashion. Customer satisfaction ensures customer retention. I feel like this is important because if our customers needs are not being met they might as well take their business elsewhere.

Finishing the Monthly Report Finishing the monthly report is my third order of business. The president relies on this report as he has monthly meetings with investors where they discuss the direction that the company will go in. If these meetings do not take place, the investors can potentially pull their money from the company. This report is due today.

Items Unable to be Accomplished Today As for the items I was unable to accomplish today. I am delegating some these responsibilities to other departments. I would delegate the inspection of the production line to the Maintenance Crew Manager. Factories of any size have a mechanic for the factory equipment. As for the meeting with the toiletry supplier, this would be of least concern for the company because it is not essential for it to make its product, even though there is an incentive for managing costs.

Implications of Today's Decisions By getting the interview for the Master Toothbrush Technician with the prospective employees done first, the company has a better chance at filling the open position which will keep costs down and productivity up. By getting the delivery shipped to our customers, we are satisfying them because they get what they need. Lastly, getting the monthly report done I have kept true to the deadline with the president of the company. The president will be able to fulfill his obligation to the investors.

Conclusion In conclusion today, I feel like the decisions that have been made and carried out will help to ensure customer satisfaction and continue moving the company in a successful direction.
