RCIA: Please pray for the participants and leaders of the RCIA group, who are preparing for the Rite of Election on February 25th at St. Patrick Church. Penance and Reconciliation: God Rich in Mercy This week as Lent begins our Why Catholic? small groups will explore the meaning of reconciliation. We all need to turn to God and ask for forgiveness. This just might help you with that process. For more information on Why Catholic? contact Carl Fahringer in the parish office, or your facilitator. Religious Education for Children: After this weeks Mardi Gras-Lenten Family Session, our faith formation classes will resume as scheduled from 9:45-11:15 each Sunday, beginning in the Parish Hall. A gentle reminder to parents to help your children arrive timely and to continue their good attendance. Contact Diane Black with any questions. Knights of Columbus Monthly Chicken Dinner and Lenten Fish Fry: Dont miss the Knights delicious chicken dinner, this Sunday, February 19th, from 12:30-2:30 PM. The price is $7.50 and the proceeds help fund their many charitable activities. With the start of Lent, plan on attending their weekly Fish Fry dinner, from 5-8:00 PM. Updated Parish Pictorial Directory: New parishioners and those who missed the photo session last year are encouraged to sign up to have your family picture published in the Parish Directory. These pages will be available to insert in each Directory. The photo session with local photographer Belinda Sheeley is scheduled for Sunday, March 4 from 12 noon to 3 pm. K of C Pro-Life Celebration: Stop by the Parish Hall to view all the posters submitted to the contest they are wonderful! The Contest winners are Joseph Rock, Elijah Rock and Lizzie Beeson. Thanks to the K of C, and especially to Ernie Beeson, for hosting this event to celebrate the gift of all life, and to Sharon Schuhmann, our guest speaker. Archdiocesan Catholic Mens Conference: Our Lady of Lourdes Church will be the location for this 8:30 am 1:00 pm, March 31, 2012 event. Keynote speakers include Archbishop Kurtz and Deacon Greg Hall, owner of the drilling company that freed the trapped Chilean miners. The Conference will bring an opportunity for men to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ bringing benefits to each participant, their families, and their Parish Community. They will offer sausage and 3 varieties of pancakes blueberry, chocolate chip and regular flavors along with coffee, iced tea and milk. Donations will be accepted in lieu of charging a set price. Contact Doug Hayes, 477- 8590, with any questions. Lent Begins: Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. This is a day of Fasting and Abstinence, as is Good Friday. All other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. The Churchs three Lenten traditions are prayer, penance/fasting, and almsgiving. Our Church is open for private prayer during Parish Office hours, or you may want to attend our 8:30 AM Tuesday Mass. Each Wednesday during Lent, you are encouraged to join in the Rosary at 6:00 PM, the Stations of the Cross at 6:30 and a Communion service at 7:00 you may attend any or all parts. On the table near the loft stairs we have provided Lenten devotional material, including the Little Black Book for adults, the Little Purple Book for children, the CRS Rice Bowl, and other seasonal offerings. Nurture your spiritual preparations for Easter.
