It contains the information about the companys manufacturing process and human resource department. Objectives of the project


The report is prepared to fulfil various objectives. They are 1. To understand the technical part of manufacturing biscuits. 2. To know the working of food industry. 3. To know how the production process of biscuits takes place practically.
4. To know the managerial aspect of company specially of human resource

department (HRM).

Introduction
We have visted to Parle products Pvt.Ltd situated at Khopal. Parle products Pvt.ltd was established in 1929 by Mohan Lal Dayal Singh as a small company by the name of Parle products which was emerged in British dominated India. Today, the Parle brands have found their way into the hearts and homes of people all over India and abroad.

The Parle biscuit brands, such as, Parle-G, Monaco, Krackjack, Marie Choice, Hide & Seek and confectionery brands such as Melody, Poppins, Rolacola, Mangobite enjoy a strong imagery and appeal amongst consumers across the world.

Parle products Pvt.Ltd has functional organizational structure.It has got different sections for different functions like production department, Human Resource department, Finance department etc. But this report deals mostly with the production department. It does not include information related to other departments. Parle products Pvt.Ltd uses continuous manufacturing system. It is known for the best human practice. Parle has fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by conducting blood

donation camps, planting trees, free distribution of biscuits, establishing Shri Mohanlal Dayal Prasuti ghira etc

Industrial profile
Industry simply refers to the production of economic good (either in material or a service) within an economy. Industry produces durable, non durable and consumer goods. Consumer goods can be broadly categorized as food, Textile, shop, cosmetic etc. These all come under fast moving consumer good (FMCG). Among them our report is about food industry. The food industry is complex, global collective of diverse business that together supply most of the food energy consume by the world population. Among the products of food industry this report deals with biscuit. Biscuit industry in India in the organized sector produces around 60% of the total production, the balance 40% being contributed by the unorganized bakeries. The industry consists of two large scale manufacturers, around 50 medium scale brands and small scale units ranging up to 2500 units in the country, as at 2000-01. The unorganized sector is estimated to have approximately 30,000 small & tiny bakeries across the country.The annual turnover of the organized sector of the biscuit manufacturers (as at 2007-08) is Rs. 4,350 crores.In terms of volume biscuit production by

the organized segment in 2007-08 is estimated at 1.30 million tonnes. The major Brands of biscuits Parle Bakeman, Parle G, Elite, Cremica, Dukes, Anupam, Craze, Nezone, besides various regional/State brands.

COMPANY PROFILE
A long time ago, when the British ruled India, a small factory was set up in the suburbs of of Mumbai city, to manufacture sweets and toffees. The year was 1929 and the market was dominated by famous international brands that were imported freely. Despite the odds and unequal competition, this company called Parle Products, survived and succeeded, by adhering to high quality and improvising from time to time. A decade later, in 1959, Parle Products began manufacturing biscuits, in addition to sweets and toffees. Having already established a reputation for quality, the Parle brand name grew in strength with this diversification. Parle Glucose and Parle Monaco were the first brands of biscuits to be introduced, which later went on to become leading names for great taste and quality. At present headed by: Ajay & Vijay Chauhan

Parle biscuits and confectionaries are fast gaining acceptance in international markets, such as the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia. The more sophisticated economies like U.S.A., UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are also relishing Parle products.

As part of the efforts towards a larger share of the global market, Parle has initiated the process of getting ISO 9000 certification. The Parle name symbolizes quality, health and great taste. Findings
Our findings related to parle products Pvt ltd are as follows: I. It uses continuous manufacturing system. In this system the items are produced for the stocks and not for specific orders. Before planning manufacturing to stock, a sales forecast is made by head office to estimate likely demand of the products.
II. Parles biscuit baking oven is the largest of its type in Asia. III. It is known for the Human Resource practice. IV. Parle enjoys a 40% share of the total biscuit market and a 15% share of the

total confectionary market, in India.


V. Parle has initiated the process of getting ISO 9000 certification. VI. Parle-G is the Worlds Largest Selling Biscuit. VII. Parle has more than 65 contract manufacturing and mother units in India. VIII.As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, Parle is keenly

involved in the overall development of the younger generation, with a focused endeavour to build the New Face of India and spread happiness and joy all over. IX. 24 hours production is carried on for 6 days with 6 shifts.
X. For maintaining hygiene and quality of product workers are made

mandatory to use hand sanitizer in the interval of 2 hours and toffen glass is used in whole manufacturing process.

Recommendations:
Parle has taken full care of hygiene and quality of its product so Parle name symbolizes for Quality Health and Taste. It should keep it up. As competition for parle is increasing day by day it should maintain its low price without reducing quality and quantity of its products. Though it avoids packing of broken biscuits breakage of biscuits takes place frequently till it reaches to the ultimate customer so it should take extra efforts to avoid breakage of biscuits by using different method of packing. Although it has taken full care of hygiene and quality workers are found working without wearing gloves so it would be better to use gloves.
