DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. B. C. D. Accept valves and equipment on site in shipping containers with labeling in place. Inspect for damage. Provide temporary protective coating on cast iron and steel valves. Provide temporary end caps and closures on piping and fittings. Maintain in place until installation. Protect piping systems from entry of foreign materials by temporary covers, completing sections of the work, and isolating parts of completed system.

FIRE STOP SYSTEMS A. General Purpose Fire Stopping Sealant: Water based, non-slumping, premixed sealant with intumescent properties, rated for 3 hours in accordance with ASTM E814 and UL 1479. PART 2 EXECUTION 2.1 EXAMINATION A. 2.2 Verify excavations are to required grade, dry, and not over-excavate

PREPARATION A. B. Ream pipe and tube ends. Remove burrs. Remove scale and dirt, on inside and outside, before assembly.

INSTALLATION A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. Install Work in accordance with International Plumbing Code and local / jurisdictional codes. Install trap primers on all floor drains and floor sinks. Install non-conducting dielectric connections wherever jointing dissimilar metals. Route piping in orderly manner and maintain gradient. Route parallel and perpendicular to walls. Install piping to maintain headroom without interfering with use of space or taking more space than necessary. Group piping whenever practical at common elevations. Provide clearance in hangers and from structure and other equipment for installation of insulation and access to valves and fittings. Refer to Section 220529. Provide access where valves and fittings are not exposed. Coordinate size and location of access doors with General Contractor. Establish elevations of buried piping outside the building to obtain not less than 3-1/2 ft of cover. Where pipe support members are welded to structural building framing, scrape, brush clean, and apply one coat of zinc rich primer to welding. Install valves with stems upright or horizontal, not inverted. Install water piping in accordance with ASME B31.9. Sleeve pipes passing through partitions, walls and floors. Inserts: 1. Provide inserts for placement in concrete forms. 2. Provide inserts for suspending hangers from reinforced concrete slabs and sides of reinforced concrete beams. 3. Provide hooked rod to concrete reinforcement section for inserts carrying pipe over 4 inches (100 mm). 4. Where concrete slabs form finished ceiling, locate inserts flush with slab surface.

Pipe Hangers and Supports: 1. Install in accordance with ASME B31.9 ASTM F708 and MSS SP89, and IPC Table. 2. Support horizontal piping as schedule 3. Install hangers to provide minimum 1/2 inch (15 mm) space between finished covering and adjacent work. 4. Place hangers within 12 inches (300 mm) of each horizontal elbow. 5. Use hangers with 1-1/2 inch (40 mm) minimum vertical adjustment. Design hangers for pipe movement without disengagement of supported pipe. 6. Support vertical piping at every floor. Support riser piping independently of connected horizontal piping. 7. Where piping is installed in parallel and at same elevation, provide multiple pipe or trapeze hangers. 8. Provide copper plated hangers and supports for copper piping. Install potable water protection devices on plumbing lines where contamination of domestic water may occur; on boiler feed water lines, janitor rooms, fire sprinkler systems, premise isolation, irrigation systems, flush valves, interior and exterior hose bibs. Pipe relief from valves, back-flow preventers and drains to nearest floor drain. Install water hammer arrestors in accordance to plumbing drainage institute standard WH-201. Provide 8 x 8 access panel to provide access to arrestor.

SERVICE CONNECTIONS A. B. Provide new water service complete with approved reduced pressure back-flow preventer and pressure reducing valve and sand strainer. Provide sleeve in wall for service main and support at wall with reinforced-concrete bridge. Caulk enlarged sleeve and make watertight with pliable material.
