Audience
This course is intended for system administrators or network operations personnel who install, configure and administer Citrix NetScaler products.
Preparatory Recommendations
Before taking this course, Citrix recommends that learners have the following: Intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols and understanding of the OSI model Experience with network devices (e.g. routers, switches), various networking protocols, and aspects of application and site architecture (e.g. DMZ, VLANS) Moderate exposure to UNIX (particularly BSD variants) Exposure to basic systems administration concepts, including logging, software upgrade procedures and high availability operations Familiarity with web server software (e.g. Apache, IIS, WebSphere) Basic knowledge of DNS, SSL, and compression concepts Understanding of concepts related to server load balancing and content switching Knowledge of network security threats and site protection concepts (e.g. firewalls, worms, DDoS attacks) Citrix also recommends the following books for learners who would like to strengthen their understanding of networking and web concepts prior to attending the course: Web Protocols and Practice by Balachander Krishnamurthy and Jennifer Rexford Load Balancing Servers, Firewalls, and Caches by Chandra Kopparapu
Key Skills
Upon successful completion of this course, learners are able to perform the following: Configure Citrix NetScaler products using both the Command Line Interface (CLI) and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) toolsets Configure server load balancing Configure SSL offload Configure compression offload Create policy expressions using the Citrix NetScaler policy engine Configure basic content filter policies Configure content switching Implement software upgrade procedures Configure high availability settings Address VLANs and advanced topology issues Apply anti-DDoS site protection features Implement troubleshooting procedures
