Terms and conditions for Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)

Your registration and personal details


It is important that your registration and personal details quoted on your registration confirmation letter are correct. If you need to make any amendments to any of these details, you must notify the Institute of Financial Services as soon as possible. Full name: this is your name as held on our records. This will be the name that will appear on any certificates generated for you. If this is incorrect, you must notify the Institute within 30 working days of receiving your registration confirmation letter. Address: this is the address as held on our records, which we will use for all correspondence, including delivery of certificates. Please also see Study material and delivery opposite.

We advise that the study materials should be read in conjunction with the syllabus. Syllabus details can be found on our website www.iofs.org.uk. In addition to the study material you receive on registration further information can be found at www.iofs.org.uk and www.cdcs.org. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the most up-todate materials for your examination. If you are in any doubt please contact Customer and Student Enquiries.

Examination
You must sit the examination you have registered for on the date quoted on your registration confirmation letter. If you do not sit on this date you will be required to pay for another registration for the next examination session. You must arrive at your examination centre 15 minutes before your examination time. If you are late for your examination appointment you will not be allowed to sit and will forfeit your fee. You must produce one of the following forms of identification when you arrive at the test centre: l Current, original passport; l Current, original, signed, photocard driving licence; l Current, original government issued ID card that carries your photo and signature. These documents must be valid/unexpired, bear a signature and a photograph. Failure to produce such ID will result in you not being able to sit your examination and you will forfeit your fee. If your ID is in a foreign language it must bear an English translation. Results will be released to you 6 weeks after your examination. If you have been unsuccessful it will include a report that details areas of weakness where you would benefit from further revision. Results will also be available on http://my.ifslearning.ac.uk. In order to pass, the 70% passmark must be obtained in both section A and B.

Fees

The fee(s) that you have paid for this registration are also shown on your registration confirmation letter. 2.2 If you decide the module is not appropriate to your needs you may cancel your registration. A full refund will be given if materials, fully intact and undamaged, are returned to the Institute within 14 days of receipt. After this date all fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable. Resit payments may be refunded within 14 days of receipt. Additional study material may also be returned for a full refund within 14 days of receipt. 2.3 The fees paid cover: 2.3.1 One set of study materials per registration. 2.3.2 One examination entry valid up to the examination date.

Study material and delivery


Unless previously supplied by your employer, your study material will be despatched shortly after the date of your registration confirmation letter. If you do not receive the study materials within four weeks of the date of your registration confirmation letter, please contact Customer and Student Enquiries who can track your material. Alternatively you are able to track the despatch of your material through http://my.ifslearning.ac.uk. Unless you have specified an alternative delivery address for your study material, this will be delivered to the preferred address quoted on your registration confirmation letter. The material will be delivered by courier and in all cases will require a signature to confirm receipt of the parcel. When packages are returned to the Institute undelivered, the Institute will await contact from the student to arrange re-delivery. It is the students responsibility to advise the Institute if they have not received their materials. Students can track their materials online using the http://my.ifslearning.ac.uk username and password issued in their confirmation letter. 4.4

Resit examinations
In order to arrange a resit examination you must re-register with the Institute of Financial Services by 31 January 2012. This is for the examination only and does not include study material.

Certificates
You will receive an overall qualification certificate within 60 working days of completing the qualification.

If you do not receive an overall certificate within the timescale given, please contact us. If you do not contact us within this time, a fee will be incurred to send these documents to you.

Policies

7.1 Written policies are available on request for the following areas: 7.1.1 Special Consideration for students who cannot attend an examination and/or feel they have not been able to demonstrate their true level of ability in an examination due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control, eg accident, sudden illness, disruption in the examination. If you are unable to attend the examination due to circumstances beyond your control, such as death or serious illness of a close relative, or personal illness, these deferrals will need to be supported by independent documentary evidence. Cases that will not be considered are those such as holidays, house or job move, or lack of preparation. To claim for the above, the Institute will need to have received you claim within 48 hours of the examination. Claims received more than 48 hours after will not be accepted. 7.1.2 Reasonable Adjustments applies to students for whom the standard arrangements for the delivery of, and response to, the examination may adversely affect their ability to demonstrate their true performance level. 7.1.3 Enquiries and Appeals. 7.1.4 Certification. 7.1.5 Malpractice. 7.1.6 Deferral If you wish to defer the examination to the following April, you may do so free of charge before 31 January. If you wish to defer the examination after this date, the cost will be 80.00. We will need to receive this payment fee before your examination will be deferred.
