[DELEGATE HANDBOOK]
Dear Delegates, Greetings!! DelTech MUN Organizing Committee is very excited to have you as a delegate in DelTech MUNs second MUN. All the members of the Board have seen and participated in the DelTech Model United Nations and other MUN sessions and they are very well educated with the rules of procedures used in DelTech MUN. Model United Nations Organizing Committee has designed this delegate handbook to provide any information the delegate may need for the conference. DelTech Model United Nations encourages all delegates to participate actively in the preparation of the conference and in the conference itself. All delegates are welcome to contact their chair or Executive Board members for more information. DelTech Model United Nations is a three-day simulation of the United Nations. It is also purely run by students hands, which therefore making the delegates works more than crucial. All participants are expected to speak their opinions actively during the conference. The Student Officers will be responsible for leading the debate, acting as an arbiter of any disputes, and answering your inquiries pertaining to the conference and the preparation of it. Reading this handbook thoroughly will be very helpful. You will be able to at least have a taste of the conference beforehand, and you will have a sense of what and how to prepare. We hope that this guidebook will endow you with some helpful information. For the workshops, whose location and the date are specified in this handbook, you are responsible for bringing your own handbook. Please print this handbook and bring it with you on the day of the workshop and the day of the conference. Inquiries are always welcome through the email, mun@innovafest.com

Introduction to MUN
Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations. It gives students the unique opportunity to debate and discuss issues that affect our world today with an aim to negotiating peaceful solutions. Pupils are asked to adopt the viewpoint of a particular country and negotiate topics ranging from human rights and security, to ecology and the environment and political issues.
Excited?
This is a very detailed guide to the procedures of MUN, but please dont be put off. Deltech MUN is as much for beginners as for experienced delegates and our chairs will be happy to assist you on the day if you are still confused. There will be many first time delegates at the conference, so dont be nervous. Everyone has been a first time delegate at one point, and the DelTech MUN team is a lovely group of people who will be more than happy to help you throughout the weekend. Before the conference, you can e-mail members of the DelTech MUN Organising Committee for information and help or visit the website and check out the DelTech MUN forum for help from other MUNers. However, you are more than welcome to contact the chairs, whom will be more than happy to help you in any way possible.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The following chapter provides Representatives with all of the logistical information needed to attend the DelTech MUN Conference. Questions about this information should be directed to the DelTech MUN Executive Office at the e-mail mun@innovafest.com.
Number of Representatives
DelTech MUN's goal is to provide an exceptional educational experience to as many people as possible. For this reason, we have limited delegation size in an effort to keep the number and diversity of delegations as broad as possible. Representatives will be assigned in one of two ways, either: a) as individuals, assigned to a specific country and simulation, or b) as a delegation, assigned to all simulations on which a country is represented, or possibly more than one country Each country may have either one or two delegates representing it for each simulation on which it is seated.
Conference Fees
DelTech MUN uses a per delegate fee structure, as follows: a) Fee per delegate: Rs. 300 b) Boarding & Lodging Fee: Rs. 50 (extra, per day)
Dress Code
Representatives will be expected to dress in standard business attire for all UNIMUN meetings, including the substantive sessions on Thursday and the final business sessions on Sunday. DelTech MUN reserves the right to refuse admittance to the Conference floor to any Representative who is inappropriately attired.
[DELEGATE HANDBOOK]
Conduct
Representatives are expected to conduct themselves, at all times, in a manner befitting international diplomats. This means that every courtesy, both in speaking and behavior, should be extended to all Representatives, faculty members and Secretariat members at the Conference. DelTech MUN reserves the right to expel any Representative not acting in a courteous and professional fashion.
Badges
Name badges act as Representatives' credentials for the Conference. Each badge will list a Delegate's name, country represented and the body to which he/she is assigned. Representatives and faculty members will be required to wear their assigned credentials (badges) at all times while in the Conference area. It is required that all participants wear their credentials at all times while in the UN. This includes events before or after normal Conference hours. No one will be admitted to the UN grounds or any Conference area without approved credentials.
Placards
A placard with the name of each delegation will be placed at that delegation's group of seats in each simulation. These are the property of the UN or DelTech MUN; the placard should not be defaced or removed from the room.
Position papers
Once you are assigned with a country in specific committee, you can start writing a position paper. Position papers are to be handed in to the student officers on the first day of the conference. While preparing for the position paper, you will find yourself becoming familiar with the topic. The position paper should follow this format:

Solution
(you are to be writing a resolution with other delegates. What do you think the resolution should contain for main elements? Which delegation do you expect to be the main opponent of the resolution?)
Your position paper needs to be at least three paragraphs, singlespaced. Please use 12 sized Time New Romans font style. When you are choosing the topic, please choose the one you would likely to be participating most actively. You will be able to use the position paper during the debate and the merging session. The sample position paper is attached in this handbook.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION
1. Resolution The resolution needs to be completed by the end of the merging session. The resolution contains one or more perambulatory clause(s), and two or more clause(s). It should be written by one main submitter, and one co-main submitter. Main submitter and Comain submitter are the one who are obligated to retain the podium to make a speech relevant to the resolution; they present the resolution. Co-submitters do not necessarily have to agree with the resolution; if one thinks that the resolution is debatable, he/she can be a co-submitter for a designated resolution. For one resolution to be made, the resolution needs a signature of at least five delegates (co-submitters.) Usually, the approval panel usually gets five to seven resolutions made during the merging session. The resolutions not approved by the approval panel will be not debated during the conference. You may start working on the resolution before the conference begins. However, all delegates should expect to compromise on the resolution written as working as a team.
2. Crisis DelTech MUN has successfully done the scripted crisis in its very first session. The active delegates led not only the debate to a success but also the crisis to an astounding success. DelTech MUN, each and every year, provides new kind of crisis situation to the conference. The delegates will be notified with the contents of the crisis on the second day of the conference. The delegates are expected to participate actively during the debate on the crisis. Each committee will be asked to provide a written resolution to the crisis, after the debate in the committee, at the end of the conference. The resolutions will be carefully read by the Board and the Secretariat, and the result will be announced at the closing ceremony.

3. Debate While the student officers lead the debate, the actual participants who make the conference shine are the delegates. The delegates are expected to respect the student officers, board members, staffs, and other delegates. Therefore, any threats or any unparliamentarily used language will cause a serious consequence. 4. Rules of Procedures
