JANE SANDANSKI AND THE PARTICULARITY OF MACEDONIA AND THE MACEDONIANS (Summary) Jane Sandanski joined the Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation (MRO) when it was already ideologically and organisationally defined. Independently of that fact, in a relatively short time, Sandanski distinguished himself as its authentic leader. Under his leadership the Pirin region was transformed into a firm barrier against Supremacist (vrhovisticki) adventures and Bulgarian aspirations towards Macedonia. Defending the principles of the MRO, Sandanski clashed with the Supremacists and the Bulgarian policy towards Macedonia. In addition, with immense energy he defended the principles, goals and the territory of the MRO and Macedonia. At the same time San-danski defended and affirmed the political, national, cultural and spiritual particularity of Macedonia and the Macedonian people in general, particularly vis-il-vis Bulgaria. This conclusion comes from the evidence left by his ideological opponents, as well as from other independent sources of various provenance.
