Jesus the Good Shepherd

One day, Jesus made this illustration to the people about the good shepherd in the book of John chapter 10. He said, the good shepherd enters the sheepfold through the door. This was in contrast to the thief who either breaks in violently or uses other illegal means to get in. The good shepherd calls the sheep by name and leads them. The sheep hear his voice and follow him. The good shepherd leads the sheep and they find pasture. But what about the thief? The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (vs10a). The thief must therefore be a very bad person. He steals your joy, your peace, your health, your success, blessings and even your salvation. But Jesus continued, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (vs10b). This is to terminate the work of the thief in your life. Jesus continued by saying, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep (vs11). In other words, while the thief comes to steal from your life and destroy it, Jesus on the other hand offers His life so that we can have abundant life. He added again, I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own (vs14). Jesus was highlighting the importance of having Him be the Lord and Savior of our lives. Every human is led either by Jesus, the good Shepherd, or by Satan, the thief. We see the negative consequences of Satans influence over human life today. They manifest in the collapse of moral standards, the loss of peace and love, untold human suffering in various forms; and the destruction of the soul of man in hell. The absence of God brings in the dominion of evil just as the absence of light brings in darkness. If you dont have Christ, then Satans dominion is over your life. But Jesus gives salvation. He says, I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture (vs 9). True salvation, true peace, and true blessings can be found only in Jesus. We must each choose whom to follow-the thief or the good Shepherd. Jesus knows you by name. He gave His life on the cross so that all your sins should be forgiven and you can become a child of God. He is alive for ever and is the only one who deserves to be the Master of your life. Turn to Him now and experience the forgiveness and a new life that only Him can give. If you are willing to do so, make this prayer in sincerity to God. Pray saying: Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I have gone astray. I come to you today for a new life. Please, forgive all my sins and wash them with your precious blood. Come into my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. Give me the grace to live for you all the rest of my life. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. If you just took the decision to live for God and made this prayer of repentance, then know God has forgiven you totally and now considers you His child. To know God more and grow in His grace, pray and read your Bible often. Get connected with genuine Christians who manifest Gods righteousness to fellowship and serve God together.
