Camp Impacts Lives by:

The camp experience at Camp Wesley Woods is an adventure of a lifetime. The following are some of the general experiences you can expect. As campers arrive, they will receive their cabin assignments, check in all medications brought to camp, meet their counselors, move into their cabins (resident campers), and begin their orientation to camp life. After campers settle into their cabins, the first activity of camp is worship. Games and orientation to camp life complete their first evening. Faith development and nurture are high priorities at Camp Wesley Woods. Singing, worship, and Bible study lessons form the context of our Christian fellowship at camp. To this atmosphere of praise and devotion, many activities are available to our campers. Activities are designed according to grade-level abilities and are listed at the beginning of each grade-level section of this catalog. Please remember, more activities are listed for each grade-level than can be done in a week. Campers participate in the selection of some of their activities. Due to scheduling and sometimes weather concerns, some activities may not take place in any particular week of camp. Activities that require special liability waivers are noted. Pastors are at camp each week through the Minister in Residence Program. They are listed on the Camp at a Glance page. These spiritual guides are an integral part of camp life participating in many camp activities and leading morning and evening worship. For those campers who are part of the resident program, evenings at camp are exciting times. Evening activities include: large group games, night hikes Monday evening, the Wesley Woods Carnival Wednesday night, worship and prayer sessions, and our special Thursday evening worship that includes Holy Communion and candle lighting.

Trained and Caring Staff

The effectiveness of Summer Camp is dependent on quality staffing. Our summer staff go through intensive training and preparation for the summer. Each has a love for God, loves working with kids and has a desire to see young people grow in their faith while having fun at the same time. We strive to make sure each camper feels special and knows how much God loves them. Each week, a volunteer pastor or lay person will give a week of their time as the Minister in Residence (or MIR). The MIR helps campers learn more about the Bible and teachings of Jesus through devotions, leading worship and sharing their faith while participating in activities with the campers. A list of MIRs is located on the Camp Sessions At-A-Glance pages.
