Leadership Development Spring Events

In the next few weeks, a number of trainings/events will take place in the Church Development Area of ministry. Training opportunities include the following: MBA Pinewood Derby - February 19th, Heritage Baptist Church, Family Life Center, registration 1:00 p.m. Dwight Sisk will again bring his fiberglass track that utilizes a computerized timing system that measures the cars time down the track to a thousandth of a second. Grant Jones, Heritage, and a host of volunteers will administer the race. Vacation Bible School Training - The Associational Vacation Bible School Training will be April 26, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. This years theme is Amazing Wonders Aviation, focusing on Gods Amazing Powers. Children will learn about Gods power over nature, circumstances, sin, death and our lives. Vacation Bible School is still the number one evangelistic tool we have to reach children for Christ. Margaret Spain, Eastern Hills, is the Associational Vacation Bible School Director. Association Bible Drill - Sunday April 15th, First Baptist Church. Each year, approximately 70 children participate in the Associational Bible Drill. It is the culmination of many hours of preparation on the part of the children, parents and especially Church Bible Drill Leaders. Bible Drill is more than an event. It helps to give children a foundation that is rooted in the love for the scriptures. Children who participate in Bible Drill learn scripture that will serve them throughout a life time. It is worthy of our time, support and encouragement. MBA Annual Golf Tournament - The Annual MBA Golf Tournament will be Thursday afternoon, May 10th at Arrowhead Country Club. Each year, approximately 80 golfers gather for a time of fellowship and missions support. The money raised from the tournament is utilized by MBA ministries. The proceeds this year will be divided equally between the Community of Hope and the Samaritan Inn Ministry. The majority of the funds are raised from partners who sponsor a golf hole. We are grateful for the Associational Golf Committee chaired by Steve Dubose, First Baptist. Under their leadership, thousands of dollars for missions have been raised benefitting numerous MBA Ministries.

Disaster Relief Training MARCH 2-3, 2012

On Friday, pictures and registration will begin at 4:00 p.m. Classes start at 5:00. All registrations must be made online at www.sbdr.org. Trainings will be at the MBA office. Supper will be 6:00-6:30 on Friday. On Saturday, Chainsaw Field Training Classes will be 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. All payments must be received no later than seven days prior to the training event to hold your spot. HERITAGE TO HOST PINEWOOD DERBY FEBRUARY 19

Heritages Family Life Center will be filled with the sound of excitement Sunday afternoon, February 19 at 1:00 p.m. The Robert Bates Memorial Pinewood Derby will be in full gear. RAs, GAs and AWANA participants, parents, grandparents and a host of others will be checking for their favorite car as it crosses the finish line. Dwight Sisk will have his fiberglass electronic track operating at capacity as he sends four cars at a time down the track to determine the winners. The race has been expanded to include AWANA participants and also an open race where anyone can enter a car. Its not too late to prepare a car for this exciting event. Event Coordinator, Grant Jones from Heritage, will be happy to arrange assistance for anyone who needs help in getting their entry ready to race. Call the MBA office at 271-6227 for more information.

Coosada Baptist Church has an outstanding summer intern program entering its tenth year. The intern will work with youth and children while embarking on a summer long program of discovery, learning and experiences in all areas of ministry and personal, spiritual growth.
