Auxiliary verbs
The verbs be, do and have are auxiliary verbs.

BE is used as auxiliary for continuous forms. Peter is reading a text. DO is used as auxiliary for negatives and questions in the simple present and the simple past. Ann doesn't like sports. Did you watch the movie yesterday?

HAVE is used as auxiliary for the present perfect and past perfect I haven't watched this film yet.

Exception: the verbs be and have got don't need an auxiliary verb in the negative and in the interrogative forms.
