This chapter considers the design of feedback compensators for linear, constant coefficient multivariable systems. One of the fundamental design objectives is, again, the achievement of suitable pole locations in order to ensure satisfactory transient response. Most of what is discussed in this chapter applies equally well to continuous-time systems or to discrete-time systems.
