Presentation Title: Business Analyst as Hero: Successful Adoption of Software Visualization

WI BADD

Presentation Description:

Please provide a description of the presentation (short paragraph). Recognition that "users don't know what they want until they see it" is universal, yet the artifacts that capture and communicate project requirements are predominately textual in nature. Such documents, written for a technical audience, make life easier for developers but may fail to achieve the best outcome for the business. With "mean time to prototype" now an important competitive differentiator, the business analyst who masters visualization and champions its adoption will have an enormous impact. The presentation addresses the primary challenges to successful adoption and how to overcome them, based on the speaker's six years of experience at industry leader iRise. Learning Objectives (at the end of the session, participants will be able to): 1. Understand why visualization is important 2. Identify the people, process, and product challenges preventing successful adoption 3. Learn what specific steps you and your team can take to overcome them Other: No Yes | Please Describe:

Additional Speaking Information

Please note that from an event planning perspective, this is not a fund-raising (money-making) event for WI BADD or the three IIBA Wisconsin Chapters. Each year we very consciously budget the event to break even. In our down economy, we have strived to keep the event affordable for both attendees and sponsors (the primary source for event revenue). We know that speakers are a big part of why attendees are therethey want to hear what you have to say! We have a tricky balancing act to perform in order to attract quality speakers and keep speaker expenses in line with our budget. As such, we will do our best to accommodate remuneration requests. We need your help in tracking and staying within our speaker budget. As a general policy, we do not reimburse travel expenses. However, if requesting travel reimbursement, please provide the following information: From City, Airfare estimate, Rental Car estimate, Mileage estimate, Hotel (we will likely have blocks of rooms at Sheraton (http://www.sheratonmadison.com) and Clarion Suites (http://www.clarionhotel.com) for approximately $110 per night), Meal estimate, TOTAL Travel Estimate, and NOT TO EXCEED Amount.
