MULTI TERRAIN VEHICLE

Problem statement:

A vehicle has to be built which would be able to cross a predefined terrain in least time. Vehicle should be able to cross all the terrain. Team with maximum points will be declared as winner.

Track and game description: Track through which vehicle will pass, will contain many obstacles like uphill, wooden bars (rods of wood of diameter 5 cm) and, water, marbles (something like powder or oil just to make track slippery). Length of each segment of obstacle will be 25 cm. Order of task would be uphill, sand, wooden bars, water and marbles and downhill. Points will be awarded when a particular task is completed. Total time limit is 3 min.depth of water and height of obstacle is 5 cm. Slope of uphill is 1/5.standard marbles will be used(or powder or oil) Point structure: 1 every task completed will earn 10 points each. If vehicle stops in between no points will be awarded.

2 one retry can be taken but it will result in deduction of 10 points Robot specifications: 1. The machine should fit within a box of dimensions (l*b*h=250mm X 200mm X 200mm) at the start of the game. The external device, which is used to control the machine manually, is not included in the size constraint. The external mechanism to move the balls is also not included in this size constraint. 2. If the machine uses an externally placed power supply, the external power supply is not included in the size constraint. However in case of onboard power supply, the machine along with the power supply should fit in the above mentioned dimension box. 3. During the game the machine can expand its parts provided it does not damage the arena in anyway. If the machine causes any damage to the arena in any way it will be disqualified. 4. The machine should NOT be made using Lego parts, assemblies from toys etc. However, the remote control systems from toys can be used. Judging the winner 1 team with maximum points will be d winner 2 in case of same points there will be a tie breaker, in which a team has to go thru last two obstacles again and team doing it the quickest will be the winner Power supply and controls: 1. The machine can use an externally placed or on-board electric or non-electric power supply. Mechanical force/power should not be transferred to the machine from outside. Chemicals, compressed gas and rockets, etc. are strictly prohibited. However commercial batteries like dry cells and lead acid cells are permitted. In case of machine using non electric power supply, kindly get it approved from the organizers through email. 2. In case of electric power supply, the voltage at any point must be lower or equal to 24V DC during the game. 4. The machine must be controlled by some wired/wireless remote control mechanism at all stages of the game. 5. In case of wired mechanism the wire must be slack at any point of time during the game. The total length of wire must be more than 250 cm. General rules: 1. A team can use only one machine. 2. Team Size: A team can consist of a maximum of three members.

3. The machine will be checked for size and safety. The machine should not cause electrical power breakdown. The judges at their discretion can eliminate any machine whose strategy and operation is considered dangerous. 4. In any case of dispute, the judges decision will be treated as final and binding on all. 5. The organizers reserve all rights to change any of the above mentioned rules as they deem fit. As soon as the changes are made, they will be displayed & highlighted on the site.
