Department of Health and Ageing, Canberra [February 2010 June 2011] Lead team responsible for overseeing management of the Departments 50+ websites Responsible for developing and implementing the Departments online strategy and direction Championed use of Government 2.0/social media techniques in Department communications. Achievements Developed and mentored the team managing the Departments first Facebook page, which grew in 26 weeks to over 175,000 likes. Developed and mentored the team managing the Sexually Transmitted Infection Condom Tin Design competition, a crowd-sourcing exercise involving online design, entry and voting. The competition attracted over 600 entries in four weeks and 11,000 votes in six weeks. Implemented the Departments YouTube channel, used strategically by four campaigns. Developed and implemented web badges (widgets) for H1N1 vaccination, deployed across 100+ external web sites. The capability has subsequently been reused by the department. Implemented external and internal blogging platforms for the Department, including all materials.

Health Reform Taskforce Online Communications Director (acting EL2)


Department of Health and Ageing, Canberra [August 2009 January 2010] Led integrated Communications and ICT team managing the strategic development and operations of the yourHealth consultation website in support of the 2009-2010 national health reform consultation, implementing and managing web 2.0 tools. Responsible for communication activities related to the entire consultation, including developing responses to media enquiries and materials to encourage public participation. Responsible for liaising with Ministers offices and preparing executive briefs.

The portfolio Department responsible for the Child Support Agency (CSA). Centrelink, Medicare and Australian Hearing. CSAs enabling services were progressively merged into Human Services starting March 2009.

Responsible for strategic direction and ongoing business management of DHS websites plus all CSA online properties including CSAonline and DHS and CSA intranets. All previous responsibilities as CSA Online Communications Director. Achievements Facilitated integration of DHS and CSA teams into a single area. Implemented CSAonline online messaging system. Supported development of a website for children of divorced parents.

Child Support Agency, Canberra [January March 2009] A reclassification from the Online Communications Manager role, with the same responsibilities. Achievements (additional) Oversaw first stage integration of DHS and CSA intranets, a project managed by CSA ICT.

Child Support Agency, Canberra [October 2006 December 2008] Responsible for strategic direction and ongoing management of CSAs website (www.csa.gov.au); intranet (C3) from July 2007; secure customer portal (www.csaonline.gov.au) from Sept 2008. Managed Online Communications team (9 staff) in External Relations & Service Quality Branch. Defined strategic business direction for the online channel within the context of the CSA mission. Thought leader supporting agency increase use of online in external engagement. Responsible for development of Ministerial briefs, business cases, business specifications, design and content for websites, online campaigns and web channel extension projects. Achievements Development and implementation of intranet revitalisation strategy, involving user satisfaction benchmarking and tracking, usability review, site redesign, content and information architecture review, ongoing functional enhancements, resulting in 80% increase in usage over 12 months, double digit increases in staff satisfaction and greater intranet flexibility. Progressively expanded and renewed CSAs online assets in line with overall strategic goals: Supported the development and launch of the Scheme Reforms subsite, Teen and Indigenous subsites, Child Support Estimator and iterative redevelopment of CSA website and intranet Developed and implemented online media release distribution system, reducing publication times from two days to near instanteous Redeveloped 60% of CSA website content in short timeframe for Scheme Reforms launch Reinvigorated CSAonline (customer and employer secure portal).
