6151-T1 Appendix 6151-T1 Vessel Design Documentation

This appendix provides guidance for pressure vessel design documentation. Code stamped vessels will have vessel design documentation provided by the manufacturer. Vessel design documentation is required for all pressure vessels built on site and for all Code stamped pressure vessels that are modified without the National Board repair stamp. It should consist of two parts: the first, a narrative that describes the vessel, any special hazards and how they are mitigated. The second part should list the design data (which may be substituted by standard engineering data which meets the intent of the Codes manufacturers data report). Vessel Design Documentation is written by the lead engineer, and is technically validated by a peer mechanical engineer before being approved by line management. A copy of the documentation must be kept on file for each Division. A copy must also be kept on file with the Maintenance Services Manager in Facilities Management. The pressure vessel test record may be used as the design documentation, provided that it contains the required information set forth in this appendix, in addition to the requirements of Appendix 6151-T3 Pressure Vessel Testing Procedure.
