Scientifically and Practical Institute for Horticulture and Alimentary Technologies. 1. Scientific directions: Drafting the projects on the establishment of vineyards and orchards. Creating new varieties of vines and fruits with different directions of consumption and increased resistance to unfavorable environmental factors. Obtaining and multiplication of the vine and fruits planting material, innitialy for the production of the virus free planting material of local and global origin. collecting, studying and maintaining the genetic fund. Developing and improving the technologies for growing perennial plantations. Developing and implementation of the integrated system for the protection of vineyards and orchards against pests and diseases Creation of machinery and mechanisms for the work in vineyards, orchards and nurseries. Development of advanced technologies regarding raw material processing to obtain new types of horticultural products and wine. Developing innovative technologies to produce high quality wines on the basis of the improving the technologic regimes of producing wines with denomination of origin, sparkling wines with a high hygienic level. Review and maintain genetic fund of wine and food organisms; Development of advanced technologies for processing and inactivation of harmful side products. Promotion of vegetable varieties suitable for production. Development of technologies for new food manufacturing processes and using modern machinery to process fruits, vegetables, meat and milk. Developing methods to ensure authenticity and performance in control and safety of fruits and wine products. Development of normative and technical documentation for fruit and wine and alcoholic products for the integration into the international organizations (EC, ESA, etc.). Study of management and marketing of fruit and wine products' competitiveness on international markets; training of highly qualified scientific personel

. 2. Relevant scientific results (2008-2011) The Direction "Viticulture and Winemaking" at the moment is the founder and owner of a collection of over 3000 varieties and clones of grapes, it has about 400 invention patents and a unique collections of microorganisms for the wine industry with more than 200 strains; 83 new varieties of grapes with high resistance, including 28 varieties are approved: (Guzun, M rg ritar, Muscat Letnii, Apiren roz Basarabean, Apiren negru de Groze ti, Apiren roz extratimpuriu .a.) There were about 10 thousand hectares planted with varieties: Moldova, Alb de Suruceni, Leana, Guzun , Ialovenschii ustoicivi i Soiuri pentru vin: Viorica ,Muscat de Ialoveni , Riton , GM, Bianca

Also, the Institute has developed: The list of wine lands of Central and South Regions including 50 lands capable of producing wines with denomination of origins (VDO), the map of the Republic of Moldova with wine lands highlighted. 5 - files on the production of Wines with Denomination Origins (VDO). 20 - National Standards (MS); 2 - Technical general aspects in the field of Regulation for "Wines with denomination of origin"; 50 - technological branch instructions. 8 - General Rules for the manufacturing of wine; The Institute is: co-author of Vine and Wine Law of the Republic of Moldova; of the recommendations on viticulture and oenology ; project developer in the field of modern location of vineyards; author of: the charts for growing technological vine planting regulations, vineyards capital expenditures and projects annual purchase price of grape varieties. Was developed and implemented active yeast production technology for frabrication of white, red, aromatic and sparkling wines. The direction for "Horticulture" Were entered in the Register 32 common varieties: Braeburn, Braeburn, M riri Red, Discovery, Elstar, Fuji, Fuji Fujico, Fufi Kiku, Fugi Kiku Fubrax (B), Fuji Yhin Aztec (B), Gala Must, Gala Brookfeld, Gala Buckeye, Gloster, Gold Chief, Golden Delicious (B), Golden Reinders, Golden Smoothe, Granny Challenger Dalivair (B), Granny Smith, Imperial Gala, Jonika, Jeronime, Morren"s Jonagored, Mutsu, Redfree (imun la rap n), Red Jonagold, Red Delicious Sandidge, Camspur, Red Chief, Romus 1 (tolerant la rap n) Royal Gala i Wilmuta. During the years our scientists sent to take the State test 294 varieties, including 149 native species and 145 varieties introduced. 146 varieties have been approved, including 66 autochthonous varieties and 80 introduced. Currently in the volume of production of local varieties of grafted trees the share of autochthonous varieties of plum and apricot exceeds 50%, pear 70%. We have competitive varieties in all species grown.

In the last five years were surveyed over 3,400 varieties and elites (introduced and native) and about 18 000 hybrids obtained by using different types of crosses (single, double, topcross, dialele). The Germplasm Fund, an endowment of the institute and State, represents collections of varieties and micro cultures of the main species of fruit, orchards and nursery selection of hybrids located on an area of 145 ha. In the past decade fruit assortment of Moldova has been completed with 41 varieties, of which 12 developed at the Institute. There have been developed recommendations for new cutting techniques for cherry, apricot, peach and plum plantations which has helped to increase labor productivity by 4 times and labor saving mechanization process based on cutting trees; Recommendations were developed for foliar fertilization of apple fruit plant, which has helped to increase overall yield by 15-20% per hectare. Four technical regulations have been developed:

Food Technology Department New technologies have been developed for industrial manufacturing of a wide variety food attributed to national cuisine: preserved vine leaves, cabbage variety Moldovan, spices (tights) with the use of indigenous raw material, there were parties of experimental mixtures beans and grain extruded policomponents, was developed technology to produce them; Were obtained C02 - extracts of wheat germ, amaranth seeds, grape and walnut kernels, It was developed "Rules for determining sterilization and pasteurization regimes for the canned production" Technology was developed to produce canned "vegetable oil and dried Tomatoes"; A branch was maintained a comprehensive collection of lactic acid microorganisms that have been added to the National Collection of Microorganisms.

Were developed and implemented, at national and international scale, advanced processing of agricultural raw materials with a result in products with a curative and prophylactic purpose, produced with low material and energy necesary, documented by Moldovan standard (MS) 8; corporate standard(SF) - 7; instruction technology (IT) - 15; standard interstate (GOCT) - 4 The direction for Legumiculure. Were sent to the State Commission pepper varieties: Autumn Gold, Rocket, Cristi decor. fore the potato varieties were tested 35 new perspective and incorporated in the State Register.

The tomato crop was studied from 95 sources, were made 160 individual selections were studied 75 hybrid populations both fertile and sterile. Were tested and recommended for inclusion in the State Register of 16 herbicides on crops of carrot, cabbage, cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes and peppers. Effectiveness is 10 to 12% of production per hectare. Were developed: Potato cultivation technology. Technology of onion seed crop. Technology species growing root (beetroot and carrot). In the operating department there are, currently, 25 doctoral students indoctorate I PHTA. Within three working I PHTA specialized Scientific Councils 05/18/07 specialties."Technology and nonalcoholic beverages", 01/06/08. "Vineyard" and 5/18/03."Technology of storage and primary processing of plant products." Inquiries are innovative, competitive and future oriented character that is highly appreciated by national and international scientific community. The results lead to the solution of many socio-economic problems of great interest and contribute to the development of Moldovan science. 3. Illustrative material plant patents
